Co-Op Mutation #218: What We Do in the Shadows

Zeratul’s watcher is not immune, shortsighted reduces vision of everything to 2 range but if any unit gets vision upgrades then the upgrade is applied over the 2 range, this usually isn’t big as most vision are just ~2 range upgrade but watchers get a huge vision upgrade at 3 artifact levels making it seem like they are immune, but the range they get with shortsighted is still much shorter than the range they normally have without the mutator.

Mutation solos are nice and all, but they are way overdone. Have a fusion core building contest instead!

What we do in the shadows?

Build fusion cores, duh!

Beat it with Nova (me) and Tychus ally.

Not a hard difficulty at all. Just annoying. Nova as natural detector just trivialized the We move unseen mutator, and Nova’s units are extremely powerful and tough, and with the help of the Defensive Drone, even if enemies who got first free hits on her armies, it is non-factor.

buisness as usual. 13 minutes clear with zeratul + dehaka xD

What time do the mutations change out?

Okay, I’d just like to know what the actual is happening above ? (And not MVP’s question, it is early Monday in the AM EST).

Why is that comment flagged at all, and why that is hidden while other way more bs things happen but not dealt with?

Genuinely curious lol (zero position o above post, but very confused with the forum rules).

I guess people don’t like when someone says bad things about their waifu?

IIRC there is flat amount of flags that automatically result in a hidden post so I guess ppl didn’t appreciate the inupt.

I think coz that post includes a self-censored version of the f word. I recently-ish got caught out by that one too, and a related phrase in its abbreviated form. (Though, mine was directly edited by a mod and not hidden.)

Flags on posts with explicit or almost-explicit language get approved more easily whereas “taken in-context” nonsense with or without depth isn’t clear either way so gets left as is. (Like when some posts about who is or isn’t stupid or an idiot, etc. may get flagged but isn’t clearly rude enough and definitely not explicit, so the flags get ignored/rejected/not approved.)

Well, if it was used in a derogatory way for my waifu bae Vorazun, then I fully support the flag :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: But overall it was about Nova so I don’t care*.

* “First they came for the Nova’s, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Nova.”

Want me to flag your post for you?

Edit: I can flag my own posts. Hmm. Wonder if it actually completes the process or just ends with “you can’t flag your own posts”.

Edit2:

Done. Flagged as inapproprate. It’s already hidden; but viewable if clicked. Can anyone else see it? I think if someone (even one person?) at level 2 or above flags a post, it remains hidden until the review process. Also, there’s no “undo” flag.

There are flags for inapprops, trolling, spam, threats, and bad usernames but maybe they aren’t being used. For necro, there should be an auto-lock on threads which have been inactive for over 2, maybe 3 months.

Some of CtG’s mutation vids start with “It’s Monday 2am in Manila, so it’s tiiiiime for a new mutation”. The Philippines is 1 hour ahead of Korea, so I guess they swap out around midnight-to-1am local server time. (I think there’s 30 minutes of mutation downtime in between.) Not sure which specific timezone is used for US & EU servers.

Yeah, auto flag confirmed. And does absolutely nothing.

Good to know this is how we went from mass downvote that hide posts to mass flag to hide posts.

We live in the tomorrow now boys, or is it yesterday, if you get ma drift.

Now, please leave a like if you did help with the flag test above. Subscribe and sound off in the comments below. Wait, am I on YouTube? Lol jk.

You (poster) and I (flagger) might see a different notice than someone else reading it. But it’s not yet been reviewed so does nothing yet. I got a 12-hour “account on hold” for my aforementioned violation, which is fine. Tells me not to use expletives…in any form.

Was it a mass flag? I think just mine.

Pretty sure it won’t hide it for only 1 flag. I mean, it will hide it for the person flagging, but it’s hidden for me now and I didn’t flag it so I think multiple people must have done the flagging.

@WireBender: That makes sense.

Back to the topic (is that allowed?) - Did it with Vorazun’s and Zeratul’s. I found it easier with Zeratul hero solo even at level ~39 than with Zeratul+army at level 90+. Just mass cannons and observers. Masteries were Zera attack speed, Artifact frag spawn rate, Legion cost. (Usually, I do the opposite on all three.)

Irritation: You can’t even claim your gas the normal way, need vision all around the geyser to build refinery (Vora and others). For Zeratul, the refineries on my main auto-warped in at the start but at the expo, since the expo nexus doesn’t have vision of the geyser, it doesn’t auto-warp in. Needed probes nearby to give vision manually initiate the warp in. Not that I actually need the expo gas for this mutation.

Wrt Darkness:

  • If you don’t know the attack wave pattern on a mission, Darkness can be very painful. It’s simple enough on VT but on other maps, not so much.
  • If attack waves actually had decent pRNG, on other missions you’d need vision (+ detectors with “we move unseen”) for each possible incoming wave direction.
  • I recall one Darkness mission on Rifts to Korhal where my probes weren’t mining from some parts of my expo mineral line coz they couldn’t “see” the entirety of it. So built pylons behind the mineral line to give vision. Or once you have enough probes, they will give each other vision and the problem goes away.

I mean there are plenty of “happy trigger” ppl on this forum. And how I generally deal with general rudeness doesn’t collect friendlies :stuck_out_tongue: .

On the other hand, Wire’s right. I mean if it’s just 1 flag and it hides it, then 1 of 2 things have happened.

  1. That is literally how it works (which is the dumbest thing ever, imo).
  2. And that people are placed on a sort of blacklist (myself referring to), since I’ve definitely flagged things that are clearly a violate of Code of Conduct (necro/spam/general abusive language).

As for your particular experience, I’ve had mine locked before as well. The length and period (based on my own and other people’s accounts of events) vary widely. It just goes to show (the moderators) have no clear guideline, except their own discretion.

No real point here except that they’ve spent all this effort to revamp the old forum into this new place. Btw, when it first started (many many positive vibes), only to turn it into this exact same thing as the old forum.

I guess what did anyone expect right? If the content is that slow to release, why would they have time/resource to manage the forum haha.

  1. Let’s assume others also flagged your post. It’d be quite sad if any one level 2 member could make someone else’s post auto-hidden with just a single flag.

  2. Necros: While I don’t like necros (even if it was useful that one time), that isn’t a flag and shouldn’t be. Threads should just auto-lock after a clearly stipulated time of inactivity. And if that were implemented, spammy ‘bumps’ of course need to get flagged, deleted and reset the last-active time.

Yes pls! And favourite posts. And if the ‘total bookmarked #’ showed up for topics, it would be easier for others to find these useful posts.

  3. My issue is with the technical rules behind the flags, etc. I’m used to StackOverflow where all the mechanics are clearly documented. I understand that anything needing human review is subject to that person’s discretion, but those guidelines should be public as well. Such as, first time offense, severity, etc.

  4. An offtopic flag would be much more useful but would probably shut down half of each thread.

Honestly what gets me is that people vote Nova in situations that Zeratul would do MUCH better. Seriously.

Those people probably don’t have access to Zeratul yet but yeah I agree that Zeratul do much better than Nova.
