The enemies destroy worlds as they conquer. As they try to flee Kaldir, they have made its crust unstable as lava begins to burst from the ground. Don’t let them leave the planet alive!
Blizzard - Storm clouds move across the map, damaging and freezing player units in their path.
Lava Burst - Lava periodically burst from the ground at random locations and deals damage to player air and ground units.
Scorched Earth - Enemy units set the terrain on fire upon death.
Did it with Swann and Vorazun.
But this mutation was harder than I thought. Even with fully upgraded armor and shields the lava bursts and bizzards wiped out my corsairs several times.
Artanis and Karax are both good here because they have Spear of Adun calldowns which are global, but also passive abilities that help with the damage from Blizzard and Lava Burst, Artanis has Guardian Shell and Shield Overcharge and Karax has Unity Barrier and Repair Beam.
Similarly Swann can be good here because Herc Transports can teleport around the map and are beefy enough to take some hits from the mutation, also the Drill is Global and he has Repair and Defense Matrix that can help too.
Although I wouldn’t recommend Swann to anyone that isn’t familiar with using Hercs that way which is a lot of them if my random pairings are any evidence.
Indeed, the best solution for Vorazun is to make sure you always have a dark pylon control grouped so you can recall your corsairs home in a pinch, in case of disaster.
This is an incredibly tedious mission. Moving across the map is a chore. For anyone who hasn’t done it yet, it would be hugely helpful to have a timestamp list of attack waves because responding in real time is nearly impossible without teleportation.
Looks like the typical strategy here is to hide in the safety zone and deal with the waves as they get closer to the conduits (snipe the shuttles, deal with the waves at home, and maybe go out and kill the one wave that tries to snipe each bonus). That said, this is textbook hero solo territory, so it shouldn’t be too hard for players who know their standard commander plays.
Kerrigan is the best commander for this. Go mass mutalisk. Their health regen will keep Mutalisks alive plus they’re fast flyer.
Get Nydus Worm. It provide mobility for Kerrigan’s army AND your ally. Yes, your ally can use it. This is useful if your ally choose to go ground army.
I haven’t try Tychus yet. I still think Kerrigan is better on this map. Tychus’s Medivac only work for himself and his outlaw. With Nydus Worm, Kerrigan and her ally can be anywhere.
I used Stukov, as usual. not the easiest commander, but liberators sort of work, unless you get unlucky and they jump on a mothership in a lava burst and all die…
might have been easier with a Kerrigan ally instead of a Zeratul. healing creep could negate a lot of the mutations…
Mutalisks-only Abathur made this mutation rather simple, altough I must say that my Kerry ally helped a lot too. If anything, the mutation was made a bit harder by enemy comp - zerg ling bling viper. We couldn’t save the first bonus research ship, but we managed to get the other 2.
You have to constantly babysit your army, but considering Abby doesn’t require too much macro, and that his mutalisks are fast and can survive almost anything, it’s not too big of a problem.
In the middle of the game, I stopped using Kerringan and completely focusing on mass Mutalisk. Good thing that mutalisks are fast, so dodging the Blizzard is easy and essential. One time I made a mistake and got my mutalisk caught inside the Blizzard and they died no matter how hard I tried to get them out from the Blizzard.
Mass Mutalisks are so good vs the escorts and the shuttles.
Not a hard mutation but certainly not fun to play though.
I take it Lava Bursts also do damage to structures?
My trust level says “Member”, so I guess that’s level 2? I come on here frequently, but not THAT frequently. There’s a workaround for posting links anyways.
