This mutation was pretty easy. Had an Artanis ally as Abathur. I just made a bunch of swarm hosts at each entrance and held off everything since locusts proc fatal damage. Provides an endless wall of meat.
If you are floating minerals, you can make some for gas.
It should pay itself after 5-8 minutes so it seems worth it to me, unless you think you are going to finish the map faster than that.
Beat it on my second try. I played as Artanis in the first two game. First one is Kerrigan and second one is Swann.
First game, I went to get Reavers asap since I didnāt have a defensive commander. I expected my ally to get Lurker but instead he brought out Mutalisk? Lost the game because of my teammateās units decision. -_-
Second is pretty easy. My ally did good job on defense while Iām on the offense.
I will never understand why Kerrigans do not use lurkers on DoN.
Lurkers are terrible on the offence, a good flock of Mutas work well for defence as well as attack.
Personally never felt Lurkers were all that good a choice compared, maybe thatās just me though.
All you need is about 3-4 per entrance, not a mass of them. Especially since there this mutation deals with extra infested. You can still go mutas for offense.
Considering the tech to get lurkers and 3-4 per entrance, thatās a lot of mutas. Mutas are not bad for the map, it was probably more about the player, and honestly if you lose this mutation you shouldnāt blame the teammate, itās an easy enough one.
Unless you have someone else defending the entrances, mutas will have to stay at home to deal with Outbreak, so might as well go lurkers. Also Kerrigan creep gives +30% attack speed and healing for ground units, something air units canāt take advantage of.
Well, I am sure to use Lurkers to defend if my ally is not planning to defend together with me at night. If my ally (for example Swann) is going to defend the base on his own, I will skip Lurkers and go for mass mutalisks.
Yeah, especially if you put a few Omega Worm in front of the lurkers as a ātankā and now your lurkers are safe.
Cleared first tryā¦ extremely easy mutation. Dehaka (me) & Stukov (Pub).
It feels weird to say this, but I kind of miss aggressive recruitment.
Totally agree on this feeling. Such mutators need 3rd for mutation to be complete. And slims are just pain in the butt, being easy mutation i still get frustration fro this one.
P.S. Number of tries really donāt matter.
Picking artanis on this map weekly mutations is not good commander decision either. Itās better to analyse your own game instead of blaming teammate.
Stukov/swann ez mode. Just bring a pillow
I used Dehaka, got paired with Stukov. He was mostly defense, I was mostly attacking. Slim pickings really choked off how fast I could build an army, so I wasnāt able to clear as much as I need to early. Then I made too many igniters, thinking theyād be cheaper. Switched to guardians late, and they destroy. Still, we got overwhelmed and my last buildings got destroyed with 2-3 infested buildings left.
2nd attempt, still using Dehaka, got paired with Swann. Went right for the guardians this time. Even with terran ghost/raven comp, it was fairly smooth. I maxed out my vespene drones, but only kept about 10 on min (enough to revive Dehaka). Only got the guardian upgrades, and sunk all my resources into guardians.
Primal Guardians are the single best unit for DoN in co op. Fight me.
Have anyone manage to build 150+ army supply with 3/3 or 3/3/3 upgrade on this map?
I only played it as Abathur and I rarely go above 100 supply with him in the first place. I did manage to get 3 attack, 1 armor though. I had plenty of minerals but gas was a struggle.
Also his troops are constantly afraid of vampires
I personally donāt play mutas as Kerrigan, but I think on this map they should be quite good. And with slim pickings you may actually end up with more gas than normally.
Maybe your partner was expecting you to build cannons?
I do build lurkers on this map but I think when going mutas instead you would want to skip hydraden and build maybe 1-2 omega network max and you can clear the map much faster, likely not having to defend the extra entrances at all because of mission ending sooner (can mutas continue clearing the map during night? I think it should be possible, with most infested not being able to shoot ā¦ havenāt tried myself, though). Thatās provided your ally can defend a bit (ie. heās not playing H&H ā¦ also Tychus is probably better not being forced to defend )
Stukov was somehow fun on this one, but no commander could match the I DEF! of Swann.
