Can't play on custom, the game crashes on this menu

Hi, I cant play on custom anymore. The game begins to load indefinitely and then crashes.

I already tried to use the repair and reinstall the game, but the problem persists.

I was playing custom campaigns last night but now today I am see this issue. What gives?

Hey all,

There’s currently an issue with any tab under the “Custom” game mode that loads custom map names. As long as players don’t select the Custom mode (which defaults to the Lobbies tab) the game won’t freeze.

As someone who plays almost exclusively custom games, being told “don’t select custom” may as well be the same as being told not to play at all.
Please fix whatever bug, or exploit, or players being terrible people, that’s causing this as soon as feasibly possible.

Totally understandable.

I only mention it so that others who come across the issue know that it’s restricted to a single game mode.

Bliz is aware of the issue so hopefully they get to fixing it soon.

It’s due to some whiny scrub who got butthurt about being banned from some custom game type. So he’s manipulating code that lets him put code into game names. He’s done this before, and Blizzard has done nothing about it. It’s just a matter of waiting until he gives up for a while.

Glad to hear. Having the exact same issue. It just started today. At first I thought it might have been related to a recent Windows security update, but before I went full on with that route I decided to check if there were any known issues Blizzard was aware of, and came across these discussions in the forum. Noticed the same things as others in that I can navigate around in other menus within SCII, but NOT the CUSTOM tab or the game freezes indefinitely. I hope Blizzard fixes this soon. SCII custom games and lobbies are the main reason I play the game, and though I see this has happened before years ago it looks like it is has not been a recurring problem since. Thanks for your updates and diligence Leviathan! Get on it Blizzard team !!

Wow… that’s awful. So he decided to ruin it for everyone else? Great solution. Blizzard should really do something about whatever flaw he is using/manipulating.

I also have this issue but only in Americas servers and other servers are fine , i mainly play on EU but at night EU server player base drops so i switch to Americas but well it crash

it’s gonna be a while i guess. Apparently some dude hacked or is glitching it, switch to a different Region like EU meanwhile

you can do that in Blizzard client or in game, simply look next to the button play ( in blizzard client ) or in game press Esc then top right there’s a globe icone

Tell Blizzard to make an example of the perpetrator and have them arrested for cyber crimes. Time to set the precedent for mass cyber assaults on corporations and their customers.
