It often is. There are several different types of BC openers but basically if the zerg is even slightly off beat, he dies. It’s different from a hellion banshee opener in that 1 queen can zone a banshee whereas a BC requires all your queens to respond. That means vs a banshee your queens help out vs the hellions, while vs a BC they do not. This is a huge deal with simply deflecting the more mild hellion pressure variants but when it comes to the hellbat allin variants or the ones that open liberator into BC it literally decides the game then and there. If your queens are in the wrong spot and get pinned down by a bunch of hellbats, it’s over. If the BC picks off your banelings, it’s over. If the hellions one-shot a cluster of lings, it’s over.
Why would you be making banelings against BC’s?. Do you expect the Banelings to kill it?

I agree Tactical Jump is obnoxious but it is everything Terran have vs. Zerg right now. Let’s trade the removal of TJ for a revert on Queen AtA range back to 7?

This idea that 8 range queens make it impossible for zerg to take damage is absurd. We regularly see dozens of drones dying to standard openers and have seen this for years. Your problem is you want damage that doesnt require skill or have any risk. i.e. battlecruisers

The issue with taking away TJ is that the BC is so slow, it would get kited to death by everything. You’d have to buff it’s mobility to compensate by increasing move speed or adding another ability like TJ but less global.

5 queens (750m) can kill one BC (400m300g) if they use Transfusion 5x zerg will not lose a single queen … first bc dont have yamato and TJ is on CD …

The queens could kill the BC, sure. But only if the Terran is lazy enough to let them. And lets not gloss over that 5 transfusions there lol 75 energy each and they just what, arent injecting? No creep? A much more realistic scenario is that a bunch of drones and maybe 1-2 queens die and the BC flies away. Be honest.

They don’t outclass other harass options in any way shape or form except ease of use. In fact they have a bunch of weaknesses compared to traditional hellion banshee and hellion liberator openers. The strength of BCs is in the late game and how they snowball with yamato and tactical jump.
Good luck getting some drone kills with banshee nowadays.
It happens all the time. The maps are designed to let it happen. Just the change in map style alone far outweighs the queen range buff not to mention the queen and creep nerfs and banshee buffs. Blizzard loves to expose the sides and backs of mineral lines to either terrain or airspace.
Terran players whining about having to use basic micro on banshees for why they “need” the BC is the epitome of laziness that terrans have come to be known for. Zerg players are expected to juggle drones, queens, transfuses, block the hellions with an evo chamber & surround with lings, still hit injects and still spread creep, but the only thing Terrans should have to do is move-click a BC around and after banking 1000 minerals go home and drop some barracks? Give me a break. Terran has major design issues and the BC is top of the list.

So easy to get zerg honest with banshee that all pros are opening BC nowadays. And that’s not because they want BC later on, in fact there are several follow ups: bio, mech with or without BC, BC could be either the main unit of mech or a support unit, ecc. They open BC because in this moment, it is the only consistent (I repeat: consistent) way to keep zerg honest. They should put TJ locked behind un upgrade, giving back yamato to mantain the number of upgrades, then we should see whether with the remaining harass options, zerg are descouraged from playing greedy.

Why aren’t the others consistent, though? Is it because they require micro, and the terran might mess them up, meanwhile BCs are so easy to use an neanderthal could micro them? Sorry, players shouldn’t get a free pass in the early/mid game just because they picked terran. Surviving the mid-game should be based on skill and luck, just like it is for protoss and zerg. If you screw up, you shouldn’t make it past the early/mid game, just like protoss and zerg. If you want consistency, it should come at the cost of skill.
