Audio slowly fails with Focusrite USB audio interface

Hello,

I got an USB audio interface (Focusrite Scarlett Solo) and noticed that SC2’s audio starts to fail during the game. The symptoms are always the same:

  • Menu screens sounds have no problems.
  • Game starts, sounds OK.
  • After less than a minute audio starts to become delayed of what’s happening on the screen.
  • Sounds also become garbled as if they’re being played at a slower speed and crackling noises appear.
  • Switching to another sound output (using the game’s sound options menu) and then back to the USB interface will reset the problem. ie, it will work but fail again under a minute.

I’ve tried lowering the audio quality to a minimum and the number of sound channels to 16 (minimum possible). I also tried to increase the interface’s buffer size to 1024 (max) but to no avail.

My audio interface works flawlessly with all other apps, using either native or ASIO drivers.

Specs:
Windows 10
SC2 version 5.0.10.89165
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X
GPU: AMD Radeon 6900XT
RAM: 32GB

Please help.
