Any tips to increase FPS

Im playing on a bad laptop.Any tips on how can i get a better FPS?
I put my power managment on High performance.

Hey cone,

You can find some tips here. For more specific suggestions, we should get a DxDiag:

  1. Press Windows Key + R.
  2. Type DxDiag and press Enter.
  3. In the DxDiag window, click Save All Information.
  4. Name the file “dxdiag” and click Save
  5. Paste the DxDiag into a new post, select and highlight everything you just pasted, and hit the (</>) button. That’ll make the information much more readable.

If you have issues pasting here, please use Pastebin and post the link (ex: Pastebin (dot) com/123456).

your system supports up to 16 gigabytes of ram, meaning that you could upgrade your ram. on the other hand: your gpu is fairly bad. you could try to find a cpu with a better gpu if that exists but, i would recommend buying a new pc. if you have room for a desktop, you could look for a cheap used one and then upgrade its graphics card.

Here’s the real problem. This is a very slow CPU with a very slow iGPU - it’s what used to be called Intel Atom. It’s amazing you’re able to play SC2 on it at all.

I’d definitely not recommend upgrading it as your money is best saved for something else. Check out the link @Zenlaka gave. Basically you want to make sure nothing else is running in the background and all SC2 settings are on the lowest setting or switched off.

A clean Win7 install with just SC2 could be a little faster too.

So i need to upgrade only cpu and gpu?Any suggestions?

It’s a laptop/notebook and an old one at that. So I’d recommend making the best of what you have and saving for a good replacement.

Edit: What you could get would depend on your budget and what else you want to use it for.

your gpu is integrated into the cpu and you can not upgrade one without the other. there is stronger cpus but, i am not sure if they come with stronger gpus. a stronger cpu however(for example a quad core) might help. i am able to run it fairly well on an amd a4(quad core 1.5 ghz) but, that have a radeon hd 8330 which is likely a better gpu than what you have. if you are determined to upgrade however, you should go for a quad core cpu. though based on videoes on youtube, it does not seem to be possible to upgrade anything in that pc.

Please ignore the point above about the number of cores. For SC2 dual-core is all you need. The number of cores is generally meaningless, it’s the performance of the CPU for the particular task that counts.

please ignore caffeine. i have studied computers. your cpu does not seem to be possible to upgrade and as such: you need something new. i suggest looking for something and putting away a little money each time you do not find it. eventually: you will have saved up enough. you could look for discount offers to get a stronger laptop cheaper.

Perhaps, in which case you’re probably like my students who thought they were so clever because they’d learned a few things from the Internet.

If you had properly studied Computer Science you’d know what IPC is and how more cores doesn’t make a single-thread process faster. Off the top of my head I can think of at least a few multi-core processors that are worse for SC2 than his dual-core. Look up these: Qualcomm Krait, Exynos 7870 Octa-core, Atom Z3740D. Yes, they don’t all run normal Windows, but the point is: quad-core > dual-core is a simplistic viewpoint. They same applies to RAM in spite of what you keep insisting.

I did not understand much of what were you saying but thank you for all the suggestions im probably gonna buy a new pc or try to upgrade this one if it is possible. The tips i was looking for were some ways to reduce graphics or anything lower than low.

So could i send you the specs of the pc when i find one,so you could tell me is it good one for that price?

yeah sure, just post the specs and i can tell you how good they are. you do need both a good cpu and a good gpu. not even an i7-7700HQ could run it above high without scrolling lag. the optimal cpu would likely be something above 3 gigahertz while the optimal gpu would be something like gtx 1070 or 970. 770m is also fairly good but limited to ultra. you should also have more than 8 gigabytes of ram if you hope to play a lot. on my pc with 8 gigabytes of ram: i have to restart the game between games to avoid unplayable framerates.

I’d highly recommend against an i7-7700HQ, unless there was some super good deal, it’s old and overpriced. Generally laptops make worse game machines than desktops due to the thermal constraints and memory bandwidth issues.

You also can’t go by CPU speed (MHz/GHz) alone. The same goes for GTX1070, total overkill for SC2.

Like I mentioned on another thread your computer has problems, but you’re unwilling to provide details to troubleshoot the real issue.

Don’t worry, most of that was a reply to @andreasasp2. There’s nothing else to do with that laptop once you’ve done the steps already mentioned by myself and Blizz tech support.

If you are looking to upgrade now how about indicating a price range and your requirements so something good can be recommended?

please ignore caffeine. he is attacking me here in the technical support forum and not being useful. i know what i am talking about. you need a cpu with good clock speed, a good amount of cores(at least for running background tasks) and a good amount of cache. an amd ryzen might be useful without costing a lot. those have actually exceeded intel`s cpus now. i mentioned i7-7700HQ as a cpu that would be too weak, not as something i suggested. you need at least 12 gigabytes of ram as 8 is too little. starcraft 2 leaves a lot of trash data because of memory leaks. you also need a dedicated gpu, not an integrated one. if it says intel hd or uhd, it is integrated.

That’s interesting as I was presenting scientific evidence to help someone avoid your mistakes and you were disputing it by just affirming that your opinion is right. Do you have any actual evidence to show that what I’ve said is wrong?
