With so many Platinum Protoss, who Patrol these forums, claiming that “APM doesn’t matter” and that “It’s how you use it that matters!” I think it’s time we put this to the test. Thus the “PPP v Reality” series is born.
I hereby challenge every Protoss player on these boards to play 30 games with 1/4 as much APM as they normally use. In fact, I will code a program that will lock you out of your mouse and keyboard if your APM exceeds the allowed threshold and it will keep you locked out until your average APM comes back down. We will need 30 replays to establish your APM. Then we will need your next 30 replays to establish if you actually ran the program, thus capping your APM, and if your win-rate went up or down. If your win-rate goes up or maintains close to the win-rate from your first 30 replays, then you will have beat the challenge: you have shown APM does not matter to you.
How many Protoss players are willing to take on the challenge? Is there a single one that is anything but a fountain of pure nonsense on these forums? Is there is a single one of you out there ready to prove you know what you are talking about? I think deep down every one of you realizes the cold, hard truth -APM is 95 to 99% of the skill in SC2- and will reject this challenge.
How is it that I can be so confident to challenge all of Battle.net? Well, you see, it’s a little thing called reality:
Like I said, its a mental health issue… they say every night these lies and bs so they can sleep. Just wait another series won by goblin or gungfubanda against Clem.
No one wants to play along with your insanity. You are like an emo teenager with the mentality of “the whole world is against me.” When are you going to wake up from your madness?
So,who is more skilled of two Diamond guys? The one spamming control groups for 300-500 apm or the one with efficient 150-200 apm?Because you are ARGUING that the guy spamming for over 500 is more skilled it’s basically what you are tryign to say.Idiot.
Oh come on,spamming APM is pretty common in noob leagues (diamond and mid/low master included). Being very fast and efficient with your APM is not common and its actually very hard to achieve which is why the very top of SC2 is represented by just few % of the community. It’s not just about high APM like you are trying to make it and APM on its own is not indicative of skill.
Skill is determined by knowledge about the game, decision making based on said knowledge and experiences, understanding game mechanics and so on.APM is the cherry on top.
I’m waiting for the thread claiming T is OP because GOD Clem lost to Marinelord, something that should never happen if the game was balanced because Marinelord is an inferior player. Now Clem is on the loser bracket and could be out of the tournament if he loses another series.
Clem losing to some rando protoss is just the cherry on top and you know it. But PPP spammers and their disingenuous arguments and/or outright blatant lies really know no bounds.
The fact that there are still people blind to protoss overperformance is truly amazing. Just count how many tournaments they win, how frequently they make it to the finals - anyone paying attention and with any brain cells left in their skull will notice it. You don’t have to be a genius to know winning 4x as many tournaments is the opposite of balanced:
Balanced.
keeping or showing a balance; arranged in good proportions.
Well when the proportions are 4:1 in tournament wins and 2:1 in Grandmaster, it factually cannot be described as “balanced” unless you want to write your own version of the dictionary.
Oh look a third protoss player who refuses to take the challenge. What do you know. Amazing. A Protoss avoids an APM challenge like a cow avoids a meat grinder.
The flaw with the criticisms presented in this thread is that there is no reason to suggest avg spam from one race would be significantly greater than another.
Correct. Furthermore the action latency shown in the chart which isn’t biased by spam. You either have to react to events fast or the events play out without your attention and terrible things happen. The APM charts have scattering but the action latency is very tightly packed. All GMs are sub-50 milliseconds. So if you took APM, action latency, and hotkeys you could predict what league a player is in with incredibly high accuracy.
All of these boil down to 1 thing: how fast you can smash the keyboard, aka APMs.

What will u say to replay in other thread were just like Terran apm 200. Protoss apm 70 there was epm 150 for Terr, epm 60 for protoss. Protoss showed he a moved
There’s a reason why one old times wc3 pro had his name apm70 as a funny name
Reality is a protoss like that is super bad… yet makes Terran op mines op threads. Omegalul
