Okay so you’re showing how poorly you understand the matchup. You’re supposing that the Protoss is unable to assertain how many mines are in the drop. Simply scouting if the factory is reactored will tell you how many mines are going to be dropped. Based off of this very easy scouting you can ascertain if it’s 2 or 4.
The way Protoss deal with a mine drop with phoenix is that they lift the mines and clear them up while taking zero damage and pushing ahead in the game. Protoss being my least practiced offrace this is a more rough answer but I’d say the number of mines + 1 phoenix. Maybe the graviton beam wears off if they built 4 and you in fact need 6 phoenix against a 4 mine drop.
Nope. I am making the point that you can’t know that information unless you tag the mines. Thanks for making my argument for me. You can’t answer these questions without an oracle. Plain and simple.
I already told you how to determine the number of the mines without the oracle which deals more poorly with the mine drop than phoenix do. This is the skill of a Terran player who has the weakest scouting in the game.
Maybe he made hellions. Maybe he made 1 mine or 4 or 8. Reactors don’t mean a thing. Answer those questions or admit that you can’t and that you need an oracle.
I’m telling you how to have optimal play with less information than you’re demanding. Like I said at the start, the oracle is an overabundance of information.
This is why people ignore you, you’re very disingenuous. You also have an incredible ego to think you understand the nuances of a match up you probably have 4k MMR for.
About the phoenix thing, I DO make phoenixes every P vs T game. When I think of opening with phoenixes, I think of trying to harass with them, which I think is incredibly overrated.
I prefer to just open fast robo and send an obs to scout. I’ve tried scouting with a phoenix just to have a liberator fly in my base or need that phoenix at home to stop w/e. Given the cyclone is absolutely a clown unit, you can easily lose a real phoenix to a cyclone, when you were simply in the guy’s base for a split second, thus… opening phoenix for scouting is terrible.
Only utility the phoenix has in the early game is helping vs cyclones. On a tangent/random note, void rays are infinitely better than tempets in P vs T, and I believe void rays are a part of the strongest comp that Toss can create in P vs T.
I’ve just been massing void rays as part of my comp, regardless of what he has. I don’t really face liberators. You can a-move into terran… and snipe armored units so fast with void rays that it’s pretty funny. Like the other day I killed 5 or 6 tanks with 9 void rays in a couple seconds.
Void ray, colossus as the main components of the army is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay stronger than anything else I’ve tried in LotV, and I’ve tried it all. It just comes down to not losing to vikings. I make around 5 phoenixes and just have the rest of my air be void rays vs viking comps and hope for the best. Add in some stalkers and cross the fingers.
My last Terran opponent commented at the end of the game about it. He was like wt h, wow… that’s so strong…
