Same here turtle Beach 700 and elite controller on xbox one x. Mine just won’t work it was in and out for a while but now I don’t get anything in game chat. Hope they fix it soon.
This has literally been happening for Months how have y’all not fixed this? I literally just want to communicate with my team so we can work together easier. That’s all. Like how hard is that? I understand y’all say you’re working hard towards the issue but that feels like a half asś response, I doubt this is your main focus. Overwatch 2 better not start out like this …
New patch, same problem.
No voice chat. Speaking in any other part of the xbox works normally (a voice message, voice chat in any other game, party chat). Can’t hear anyone speaking, can’t speak myself. Joined team chat and can see X number of people in chat.
Spoken with friends in party chat who describe exactly the same.
As I’m sure you understand this is extremely frustrating…
I have tried:
Forza Xbox One, Xbox One X Scorpio
3x controllers (2 “normal” and 1 “scorpio”)
2x headsets (wireless and wired)
This is not a console, controller, headset, or networking issue - this is an OVERWATCH issue. I can’t emplore you enough to please work with your voice provider AND YOUR GAME CODERS.
From reading these comments I’m not really convinced it’s the 'voice provider’s fault.
You made major changes to the game on Echo’s release. Is it so hard to visit the pre and post code to determine changes in the voice chat area that might’ve led to this issue?
I hope you can understand why we are rightfully upset. Overwatch is a social game that’s built on teamwork and when no one can talk to their teammates for >2 months when no other games have the same issue is really upsetting.
If you actually are still monitoring this thread and reading these comments PLEASE change the freaking approach that you’re taking to this bug. If the voice provider hasn’t been changed then why would you expect it’s their issue after YOU updated the game??
If the voice provider HAS been changed then it seems pretty obvious it needs to be changed back.
PLEASE HELP US BLIZZARD WE WANT TO PLAY YOUR GAME!!!
What Jefflypuff said.
Just revert the changes till u guy can get it right
No echoa… PS I like play echoa but not with this cost
Now not to metion now the unexpect error thing now
Hey guys- I followed the advice someone gave above and my mic worked for 3 rounds yesterday.
Turn on Xbox from full off
Turn on controller
Turn on headset
Load Overwatch
DO NOT DISCONNECT CONTROLLER AND MIC FOR ANY REASON!!!
It was ok but… obviously it was only ME talking, since 90% of people won’t put in time to go to a dev forum to find the fix for the bug that’s persisted for over two months.
Are the developers even working on this anymore?!?
It’s been over a month since we got an update in this thread from Blizzard. Some information would be appreciated.
Yeah I’ve had that problem for a while ever Since the echo patch. I’ve not been able to talk in both game and group chats . But I’m there in the chat just can’t talk to or hear my team. I have xfinity and their default router. And I’ve done everything at least twice and still nothing. So if you ever find the problem please let me know.
Hey all,
This was escalated to Vivox (our third party voice chat provider) for investigation a while ago but we haven’t heard back from them yet. They did some investigation and tweaked something at at least one point but it seems that it didn’t fix things when they did. This is why it’s been so silent from us - we simply don’t have anything concrete to share at the moment other than the fact that we’re aware this is still happening.
We appreciate you all still being patient through this process.
Thanks for the update, but can’t you just end your contract with them if they aren’t holding up their end of the bargain?
Hey drakuloth,
What about the suggestion of at least acknowledging this bug in your UI for Xbox, as the developers I’d hope you at least have that ability. We understand the vendor is doing their part and there is not much you can do, but aren’t you kind of just sweeping this up and hoping users research this on their own at this point? Some form of acknowledgement or banner may help awareness of the player base and get more people applying the fix, and many more less frustrating games
This is the only thing that’s worked for me. Good tip
I’ve had this issue for months but just recently found my fix. I’m part of the alpha skip ahead program and believe it has something to do with the console and the game. I noticed that even though my mic is connected (Astro A40 with mixer) and I can hear game audio, the audio setting on Xbox dashboard shows me communicating via “Kenect mic for chat” and with no way of changing it unless I take out my mix amp m80 from my controller and connect my mic to controller only using the standard 3.5mm audio cable. This only happens on Overwatch and not the other console games I currently own and play online.
This calls for free skins or something. The game has been unplayable since the patch. Its litterly cancer
So for everyone coming in just a little summary to help. There are 2 methods (maybe others know more this is the two that I know for a fact that worked for people)
-
Press the xbox button go to profile pic, you will see a screen with “add or switch”, “Sign out”, and “Audio”. You go in to audio then turn off your headset mic and turn it back on. Works for a lot of people. However I haven’t seen this option on Xbox One X.
-
Go to settings > network settings >advanced settings > Alternate Mac address > Clear. it will prompt a message to restart your device, do so, remember to turn on your headphones before launching the game and you will be good.
For a company that have been in the frontline of gaming, the fact that it’s been two months without any solution or noticeable update is embarrassing to say the least. in 2020 we are having to restart console before playing a game in order to use game chat. I miss team speak honestly!
Read my last response here, hope one of them helps.
I too suffer from this. Had to give overwatch a break because I can’t play comp.
