Xbox - Voice Chat not Working Since Echo Patch

Just recently it seems to have been fixed for me for a few game without doing anything at all anyone else seen the same?

Quitting the game until this gets fixed. I’m sick and tired of losing my patience with this game and the comms issues. We get no aknowledgement on console, and I refuse to acknowledge the game because of it. Good luck y’all. I’ll go play some other games that actually have voice comms.

I really miss comp. This sucks.

I have the fix, seriously. Go into settings, network settings, advanced, and then reset MAC address on your Xbox. You’re welcome.

FYI this is not a permanent fix but something you’ll have to do just about every time until blizzard figures it out

Guys, maybe i got the freaking solution!

Go to your Xbox settings:general, online security, xbox live security and then put"standard for adults"PROBLEM SOLVED:D!

Let me know if it fixes it for you

What I found works for me is if I hold the Xbox button and restart before I load in to overwatch

At least this has given me something. I can’t tell if it’s the mac being reset that helped or the fact that changing that setting requires a hard reset of the Xbox (mine is normally on instant run mode which is like a suspend mode on pc).

I use Astro A40s and I have this same problem. It seems to occur when the mic is “assigned” to a profile.
For example, if I am turning on my Xbox from hard reset, game chat will be fine. If I turn my mixamp on and off (while OW is open) , Xbox provides a message that it “assigns” the headset to my profile, but for some reason game chat will no longer come through.

The only way to fix this for me (and I would say this works 95%), is to close OW, and turn my Mixamp on and off while at the Xbox dashboard BEFORE I restart the game. If the game is active when I assign the headset, the issue won’t resolve. If the headset is assigned to the profile first before starting the game, it is fine. I have a faulty USB connection on the Mixamp so it periodically loses power and restarts, and every single time (no matter if I’m mid match or in menus) I immediately lose the ability to talk in game chat until I reset and take the steps above.

If the Xbox is sleeping / OW is still active and I have the same issue. I assume that the controller “assigns” a headset to a profile similarly to the Mixamp.

EDIT* If you are using a controller, I would suggest you follow the same steps except turn the controller on and off. Close OW, reset your controller, open OW. This seems to have worked for people I played with yesterday.

Not sure if helpful but when the issue happens sometimes I can still hear others (and not contribute) , and sometimes I get nothing at all. Hope this helps people.

I don’t have these options. I have alternate MAC and some others but I reset MAC.

It’s really ridiculous that a team and communications based game has had their main form of communications down for over 2 months now. Thank god for Xbox party chat. The fact that Blizzard still hasn’t gotten on this and all we’re getting from them is “we’re aware of this situation” is absurd. Fix your game, it’s been months.

I hate doing the party chat though because I can’t see which character is talking lol.

  1. The problem started right after Echo patch. At first it was that if you started your headsets after the game started you wouldn’t be able to talk so you had to shut down the game and restart it in order to speak at all. Now I just simply can’t talk to anyone since Genji buff patch.

  2. Wired connection.

  3. TP-Link Archer C1200

  4. Tried everything on the book, resetting router, modem, xbox, headphones, update headphones, etc etc etc. For the past week I have completely lost all coms in game

I notice this happens for me more often if I’m using a while you wait game mode before being put into a game.

I was having this problem until someone told me in game today to just press Xbox home button, to to the very right tab, go to audio, and just turn ur mic off and on again. And it worked?!?! I tried plugging my headset in and out so many times and messing with OW settings and changing controllers but it’s that easy. It’s definitely an OW problem though as I can hear myself in the mid even when no one else can and parties work. So please patch this blizzard as even though the fix is simple it’s annoying

Its now June 26th, and this is still an ongoing issue. Its been an issue ever since the initial Echo patch was brought in to the game. Im using a standard Xbox wireless controller with Astro A10 headset that manually plugs in to the controller. Any form of troubleshooting has not helped including toggling the audio and mic, restarting the console and game and uninstalling and reinstalling the game.

Blizzard get it together… It’s been months of unbearable competitive bc of this issue. It’s absolutely unacceptable that you have made no progress. I will not be buying OW2 if this is your service level for the console community.

Fully this…

Also - you’re on PC as well, right?

We’ve hit 200 posts in a thread over two months old and still no fix. Additionally, now Xbox party chat is having issues of its own, where people get muted sporadically and everyone appears offline. So now there is literally no comms at all possible in-game. Willing to bet that I’ll be back in this thread in a few weeks to see if there’s a fix. Also willing to bet that I’ll be just as disappointed as I am now, seriously how do you mess up your game this badly for so long?

At this point this is just a joke. Did Valve purchase Blizz and I just missed the news? I’m not sure how its possible to care any less.

Just had a frustrating comp experience to remind me this is still an issue. Months later. In a game that relies on coms.
