There was a major discussion on reddit, on if all comps on competitive and competitive overwatch,(contenders,OWL, contenders trials) should be locked to 2-2-2.
So here I present to the forums: Do you think all team comps should be locked to 2-2-2 and why?

Iāve seen people say itād be awful but like: it always gives every role a chance. Heck I think itād kinda stop metas from happening.

NO locking comps is dumb and takes away from the countering facet of the game.
A Dps counter isnāt always another DPS.
They are kits wrapped in roles.
No, but there should be hero bans. That way youāre not forcing a meta, but opening up opportunities for other metas.
We have one of the outright stupidest gaming communities that has ever existed.

The ppl are just desperate to find a solution to get rid of goats but I donāt think 2 2 2 will fix the meta. It will actually make it more stale since the variations that can be used will be reduced significantly.
And even if we exclude the meta, I donāt think it will be fun joining a match just to find out everyone has insta locked on dps and a tank and you have to play healer because of it.

- All classes get equal play
- Goats is gone
- More fair matches. No more āenemy has 2-2-2 mains, we have 6 dps mainsā
- Brigitte is gone, for those who hate her
- You get to play the class you want, and donāt have to fill to something you donāt know how to play (roles in Overwatch are a lot more different than in other games. A grandmaster tank main may be a diamond healer player.

Why stop here ? Lets lock hero swaping mid game, just pre-pick like in mobas. Current OW mechanics just failed, lets rework it.

Role Queue with Team Compositions:
- Choose Competitive.
- Given a selection of team compositions sorted by most popular at the top.
- 6flex at top regardless of popularity.
- No Damage hero spots, just Flex/Tank/Heal.
- Locked roles, but instantly unlocked if you get a leaver midgame.
- Pick team composition out of 18 possible compositions (maybe less if you take some out).
- Pick role you want in a team composition.
- Start queuing.
It destroys the ability to make fun or interesting team comps though. Thatās what this game is about, being able to change to any hero at any time during the match. You want to throw this out the window?
How is the luck of draw on what mains your and the enemy team gets and not being able to play what you want healthy for the game?
That was the same argument for removing hero stacking, and the game got better.
Mains? Who switches heroes in a game with mechanics based around switching heroes on the fly? Even moreso with a game with mechanics as simple as this one. Mains. Ha.
When people switch heroes, 99% of the time itās inside the same class theyāre playing.
So you want to limit it even more then? Lets take it even further thenā¦ Only allow one shield tank, only one hit scan hero and only one aura healing hero while weāre at it.

Itās not really going to work out. You can make it 2-2-2 all you want. There will always be someone crying because at least of the characters chosen is not āmetaā. There will still be problems just now itās locked at 2-2-2.
Youāve provided a sort of statistic, and so I will need you to provide evidence if we are to move forward.
Why when itās not necessary? Iāve already stated why this system is necessary.
Providing that statistic is impossible. If youāve played the game long enough youāll know itās true. Either way Iām not here to convince you of anything. Blizzard have the stats, and the only thing anything is going to change is if they read this, and the many other requests for Role Queue that a lot of people are making.
IMO it should have been 2-2-2 from the start and then no one would think anything about it. Hero balance in a forced 2-2-2 would allow for WAY more overlap of roles to make up for being locked into a 2-2-2 in first place.
It would remove the issue of the +3 sort of balance problem we see that started the goats meta in the first place.
so for example we could see more roadhog like offense based tanks making a team comp sort of 1.5tank/2.5dps/2support. All sort of stuff could be done, hit scan support or DPS like support etc etc being the risk balance problems from a +3 or +4 overload on a team comp would be gone.
but I fear itās too late for this to happen now. OWL S2 is here in a month and away we go with either goats, goats, goats, goats or hopefully the balance team can work it so other heroes are played too.
At think at this point hero bans have a better chance of being in game than any sort of forced 2-2-2.
