Why does everyone hate ow?

I wouldn’t say hate, thats a very strong word. For me it’s just a gigantic mound of trash that will never change , it will remain trash… basura

So yes and no, some games do break down overtime as the community delves into it’s mechanics and gets better at it.

Ye old infiinite miner, the game that inspired minecraft and could be described as minecraft meets tf2.

Had players just stop trying to play for points they got from mining an building things, and instead just ran eat each other to blow everyone up with TNT.

I personally loved release OW, but also recognize dive would have been hard meta regardless if they added or change anything.

I didn’t start posting until 2022.

Middle East lobbies are full of toxic people.

Hardly any game goes without any racism, slur, ez ez or other abuse.

Everything else is fine about the game

Bad management.
Just so incompetently managed.

I hate OW because I suck at the game.

I wonder why? Its not like they dumped 5v5 on to us, killed ow 1 with lack of updates and balancing, alienated the 6v6 playerbase, and got rid of stuff we had in overwatch 1, and never released pve. Wow I really wonder why everyone hates ow ?

I’ve always had problems with the MM for Comp, and the feel of the sensitivity is still off for me since the transition from 1 to 2, but I still powered through. My dislike grew immensely when things stopped dying and I realized the servers had been downgraded. I liked the projectile changes, but I hated the health hike across the board.

I think the game has a big potentiel but they don’t use it.

PvE had potential to be a good story mode after they cancelled hero mode with talent trees and what’s disappointing about PvE is that we don’t even know if there will be more story missions since the team who worked on the PvE were laid off.

There’s something that bothers me too is the competition. The communication might be the biggest issue. We should be aware about the matchs directly in game. Imagine you’re bored, you launch Overwatch 2, and when you’re in the menu, you have every informations about the esport ? I think it would be cool. But also something I’d love to see in Overwatch 2. We know that there are some features that are being discussing currently and the tournaments have a part of this. I think if you introduce that in game, it would make the competition more dynamic than ever. You can create a team, recruit players, playing tournaments with some rewards, Idk what kind of reward it could be. At least we could have another competitive mode. Valorant and some other games have 100k+ viewers on Twitch because there are a lot of tournaments.

Now, what do I think about Overwatch today ? It’s still the game I love for 7 years, without Overwatch, my life wouldn’t have been the same. I met so many people with this game. It’s a pain to see how the game is going atm. I still love this game, it means a lot to me. Playing Overwatch 2 in 2024 should NOT be a shame.

I don’t hate OW, I hate mostly the other players.

Game is still fun to me, but being such a team based game, with no social interaction, outside of pings, combined with toxicity in hero choices, drags it down.

I’ve severely limited my games to around 2-3 a day, and not like 5-10 hour streams as I used to do.

the same here, it doesn’t matter how good you are as a player, you just get people that can’t aim and can’t kill anything. This is a carry simulator. Maybe for less skilled players this is a great game because u get carried constantly.

I don’t hate the game. Like others have said, the game has such great potential, which is made all the more disappointing to see the constant failure to fulfill it. Matchmaking, shallow content updates, balance issues, seemingly abandoned narrative, pve cancelation and the egregious monetization all reflect corporate meddling and a studio without a real vision for the game. I’m honestly stunned at how anyone can say OW2 is a better game than OW1. I still often enjoy the game, but I struggle to think of another series that has so catastrophically mishandled a sequel. OW2 is at its core little more than stripped down content and a new aggressive monetization model, masquerading as a sequel.

I never even bothered to visit the forums at first until they decided to start talking about Mercy reworks in 2017.

I then found this forum and put up an opinion that it was a stupid idea because the very thing that po’d WoW players, such as myself and caused the rest of us to get angry and leave after having to re-learn the game again. Was going to lead to the same song and dance here in Overwatch.

Which it certainly seams to have done yet again.

I don’t hate the game, I hate the people making decisions for the game. Were told OW2 would be great PvE missions that your heroes would get skill upgrades for and the missions would be repeatable and fun. That was the whole selling point of OW2. That and they said every account would need phone number authentication to rid the game of smurfs and such. Time and time again they remove things and leave us with less.

Sure we have many more characters, but still some odd balance changes every so often. You know its bad when many content creators jumped ship because there is really no content. New character or map every season, that takes all of 4 hours and it’s old news.

When you fumble one of the greatest game to exist ever and ruin it to rumbles bad bad and on purpose. Yeah, no wonder why people grew to hate it

Those weren’t pay-only. You could watch the OWL and earn tokens to buy those skins for free. I have nearly every skin for Reaper’s OWL sets and I didn’t spend a penny.

In that same amount of time, I would’ve only been able to buy 3 skins (if we’re being generous and saying those 3 skins only costed 2000 coins each) for their crossover events. That’s also assuming that I played every season to the max for every earnable coin possible and that those skins are actually purchasable with in-game currency (which I believe wasn’t a thing for anything up until the Moira skin controversy).

As for the Bing comment, it will take you literal months of your time to earn enough to get 1000 credits. You earn 60 tokens a day and the price of a 1000 credits reward is 10,000 tokens. That’s 166 days and some change.

No, because reusing old events is not considered “getting more” content.

Not only that, but know that I think about it, OW1 also had limited time events where you could earn skins for free by simply playing the game. It would be three weeks of challenges that gave you three unique skins for 3 different heroes, usually paired with either a holiday or a short story. This was usually the in-between content that would release in the drought period between events.

I’m also fairly positive that there is a chart that compares the actual number of cosmetics between OW1 and OW2 that shows (even in the dead times post 2019 OW) OW1 had more cosmetics being pushed out than OW2 per event.

Sales are not considered content. Nobody is going to long in because they’re excited to spend money. So that removes all the crossover events. Everything aside from that is cheaper versions of OW1 events.

As for the game-modes, Clash, Push, and Flash Point have been considered as failures by a large majority of the player base. Even capture the flag is more fun than any of those.

Not to mention that the entirety of arcade was killed by the 5v5 format making heroes like Zarya capable of breaking entire game-modes with her double bubble. As well as the custom workshop modes being completely abandoned and the UI for the custom games browser being broken since launch.

Bottom of the barrel ideas that even an AI could spit out in a matter of seconds. Still an OW1 reused event concept.

This is not going to return. They fired their whole lore team. Not to mention that the PvE and Underworld missions released at the same time, so they also avoided releasing for one of those years regardless of PvE.

I have provided them in the past and you ignored them or deflected to other arguments. Besides, this isn’t what the discussion is about and it would derail the entire conversation.

  1. That wastes resources, 2. That’s a skill check for your teammates to know how to cooperate, and 3. That’s also a skill check on you for knowing where and when to use those abilities (aka messing up rewards the enemy team).

All really obnoxious and unfun abilities, and a majority that were supposed to be removed in OW2 because of how obnoxious and unfun they are.

This just reinforces bad play making while punishing a whole slew of unforeseen situations where those abilities absolutely break/deny other character’s abilities. You cannot punish a D.va who has 3.5 seconds of matrix. There is no room for counter-play, you just die.

And this is exactly why I don’t provide more time debunking arguments because it always results in hominem attacks when they have nothing to actually debate.

Your character is still a gimmick that relies on slows, a get-out-of-jail-free card, and CC. Not to mention still freezes people in her ult. Mei has never had any risks in her kit even in OW1, which is why she was globally hated.

Long range lethality, short-ranged menace, a self-sustain ability that provided her immortality, a literal fortnite wall she could place anywhere at any time, all paired together with a primary fire slow and stun. All they removed was her primary fire stun and you somehow think that’s balanced?

Except for the whining on the forum, I love pretty much everything about this game and what it has become. Truly one of the GOATs!

Because it is a severe downgrade from an actually great game, since Role Q

And you can use MS bing to earn nearly every you want for free via Micro soft points.

I do it and have gotten half the content available for free.

So your saying OW1 had no content for years got it.

At the same time your getting both those seasons and new stuff layered each other.

You can whine all you want but your getting more content at the end of the day.

yada, I’m talking about seasonal event game modes, hero master, the bot PVE content, and New actual game modes that stick around permanently.

They are not, here and reddit are less then like 2% of the actual player base.

And most of the complaints were not true. And mostly come down to not knowing how to play the mode, and insisting that they know best because they played the game for x amount of years.

Oh no total mayhem isn’t balanced who would have guessed? it’s not like you have multiple heroes that can spam cooldowns at her faster then she can pull another bubble up, or I don’t know play sombra.

Also on a side note, zayra’s had two bubbles for since the release not hard to cycle them even when one of them ended up on another person.

OW1 didn’t even have changes for a few years my guy. Like we started with rien having funny voice lines in chat, and then googly eyes. And that was it.

Even then OW2 is a continuation of the first game with the new format. As if all the content has rolled over “shocking” in know.

Or your wrong M8, and or the fact that any change of the game comes down to the same few reactions regardless of what was changed. Event he beloved october patch that eventually borked it’s self with out dev intervention. Had the “devs bad comments”.

It doesn’t if it secured your team kills and keeps you genji/cassidy rien from deing or able to position back to his team. In zarya’s case will be able to eat like a cassidy right click or a counter charge’s worth of damage for her charge.

Not really no, that’s what they heroes were made to do. And those interactions were pretty darn comon even plat level play.

going to voice hey zarya can you bubble me while I ult is base line common play.

My guy their was more mitigation in 6v6, that had enough up time to cycle abilities like nade or lucio amp multiple times a fight.

These days those tools are limited, and outside of a hand full of tanks own kits can’t really be cycled out multiple times a fight. Like your really only going to get one mauga heal, or suzu per skirmish in most cases. Unless like their was an extended poke period.

You have to play with the understanding you have to secure an advantage such a kill or significantly strong position with those tools any time you have to use them. While offensively you have to force those tools out before making a larger play.

In 6v6 it was rare you or your team didn’t have a tool that could stop any single player, and would mostly have to play for ult combo’s and big team pushes otherwise no one was dying outside of like a sniper.

You invested a metric amount of time into this conversation my guy don’t act otherwise.

I two tap most dps/supports witht he base line health pull. With headshot into a body shots. and outrange a lot of hit scan heroes that have to stop/slow themselves to aim.

She is a counter to ashe/ana/tanks that slow themselves down while shooting like mauga,

And that’s before any other cooldown comes into play.

On a side note reaper has a get out of jail card in wraith, and his gimmick is that he self heals off damage.

pfft mei was trash and easily exploitable for yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaars. The moment dive was a thing her kit basically stopped functioning. And didn’t see play till like post 2-2-2 where she had all her broken GOATS era buffs with out actual GOATS to effectively ignore her.

The problem is that people assume hating OW2 means you hate OW.

Lots of fans of the franchise as a whole, less fans of OW2.
