Why does everyone hate ow?

hard counter the game was fun the bones are fun. Every change they’ve made since OW2 has been dog doo

I don’t hate the game. I’m just not happy about the poor state of balance, and particularly what has been done to my favorite heroes. Season 9 was a mistake.

It depends on what you define as OW.

I like Lucio Surf and a couple of other custom games. I will play those.

If you put me into solo queue quickplay or competitive the most likely end result is that I alt+f4 after one game. I find the standard game in it’s current state borderline unplayable. If someone asked me if I hated OW I would say yes because I assume most people don’t really care about the custom games I do actually like, and literally any trashfire game can be fun if you’re playing with friends.

Eh my guy we get more seasons in a year. As we have layered seasons with multiple events piled into each other, some having up to three in one go.

OW1 had the issue of just not having content for like half the year.

It’s not, we are getting more.

theirs about 5~6 seasons in a year of OW2. Which will also have things like the summer and winter events scooped in as part of those seasons. While halloween has gotten it’s own event, same for archives season.

TLDR we are getting all the OW1 events, on top fo the new at least 4 new ones.

Not remotely.

casual 6v6 can kind of comes down to stand next to tanks, spam damage till ult, maybe ult combo.

where as 5v5 your positioning and individual hero interactions are a lot more important. And you have to take more consideration in what the enemy is doing, because you really can’t just easily nuke the whole enemy team with something like grav dragons.

It is actually a bit harder to get into, because it is more FPS like then it was in 6v6.

No hate here. Just disappointment.

OW1 was just a better experience in comparison to OW2…IMHO.

OW2 is a confused flailing mess at all levels. Maps are gone. Modes are gone. Character backstories and build up are gone. New Modes they create just languish or are abandoned. Promised modes never arrived. Broken matchmaking. A Dev group with no real vision of what they want the game to be. Ridiculous pricing structure that brings about more complaints than praise. On and on.

IMHO, I wish they would just get rid of the F2P nonsense, charge 5 bucks a month for access so everyone playing is invested in the game a little, and just roll back to loot boxes, events, and completely remove this FOMO money grab structure they have now.

Archives, Halloween, Lunar, Winter, Summer. Half a season more. Most of the “events” being either limited time game modes (which OW1 had), pay-only crossovers, or quickplay hacked (which is what experimental was in OW1).

Also, the lack of content in OW1 was because they were working on PvE. They’ve said this themselves.

Battle of Olympus, Winston’s beach volleyball, and prop hunt are all reused events alongside already existing ones from OW1 like Lucio ball, all of the winter game modes, junkenstein, april fools, and the capture the flag game modes. I wouldn’t necessarily call any of that “new content.”

Not only that but entirely gutted the best event from the game, Archives. The event that gave the most lore for the heroes.

You just put an extremely oversimplified of 6v6 to make it look less nuanced.

5v5 has removed all forms of risk from most heroes kits (rein pin cancel, cree’s high noon, lifeweaver’s existence, etc.). Not only that, but they made it easier for bad players to land shots with the projectile size increase.

It has been dumbed down into a CoD shooter where the homogenized heroes rule the game. There is no strategy, it’s just 5-man Deathmatch with 0 thinking required.

We just hate Overwatch 2.

Overwatch classic would be a huge success.

-Promised us “Story mode”, gave it to us only for premium prices. Those who have it have to wait ridiculous queue times if they want achievements unless they queue with friends.
-Promised us weapon examinations, we didn’t get that.
-Promised us skill trees for earlier mentioned story mode, they ditched it before they even announced the game.
-Removed the lobby chat.
-Made it so that we can report people willy-nilly and cause false reports and false suspensions and bans to happen because everything is also subjective now.
-Battle pass.
-Skins and “skin bundles” for 20+ USD.
-It’s literally the same game but with $$$ now.

Do I need more.

Yerp, but still have their own part to play in events skins and their own game modes.

Meanwhile OW1 very much likes its payed OWL skins, which these more or less replaced.

And before you say it, you can in fact grind out coins in game and outside via the using Bing a lot. 5 minutes a day their will get you most of the content for free.

So we are getting more content in a year then we did in the first year or two of OW1.

I’m not talking end game, I’m talking peek.

And those are along side new content and other events. they run alongside the main content, or are supplemented with a new game mode like flash point or clash.

we got two new Halloween events that run along side it.

April fools has different changes every year.

they just haven’t returned yet, not surprised because we only had on year for that to run and that was work being done on both underworld and the PVE missions that got reworked.

Na that’s how a lot of games just break down. half the complaints going into 5v5 were that you were punished for playing like that.

Also you need to add what those nuances are if you actually want to have an argument here.

Or you know you don’t have room for a dedicated peel tank, that fixes those restrictions for you. As you could bubble or pop dm over the Cassidy, or rien

Also like you can still cancel and punish both cooldowns with the same tools you always used be it sleep/flash/DM/bubble and more for each.

the way you play around those abilities hasn’t changed, if anything it easier to punish these days requiring a lot more game sense to pull these off at all.

ahaha, ah god. salty reaper player when their hero isn’t meta.

Meanwhile I as mei have been having a great time now that I’m not tide to a gimmick that gets countered by every tool in the game. And can actually kill things and pressure players out of a given space.

on a side note, OW is nothing like cod and OW hereoes are still extreamly unique not only against each other. But in the gaming space as a whole.

Their a not many games that will give you tracer/pharah’s/genji/mei/riens and mores playstyle while being an FPS.

It’s not the same game though. There was a complete balance overhaul and Overwatch 2 has nothing to do with Overwatch.

Nothing of what you said has anything to do with what he said the reason was for people hating Overwatch 2.

You literally counter-argued nothing. Id sooner ignore your type of comment than his, frankly youre the bigger space waster.

Overwatch 2 is scummy and anti-consumer which is reasonable criticism, and if you think it isnt just remember it got into legal troubles with 2 different countries for 2 different reasons

Overwatch 2 is more than deserved of complete hatred solely for their new monetization system, especially considering the previous 7 years of this game was MUCH more friendly despite being a lootbox system, for the sole reason that you could unlock EVERYTHING without spending a cent. I had 90% of all Overwatch cosmetics for all heroes without ever having bought a single box.

When you gather a community that spent their entire time with a much more friendly system that allowed players get ANYTHING simply for playing, and switch it to bundles bloated with garbage, pretend sales that never existed, insane amounts of FOMO for cosmetics not even tied to specific events, and one of the worst battle passes in the market?

They deserve criticism, and pretending its not valid just because Blizzard started doing their job again is delusional, and downright childish.

The literal in game items that were modeled after the real life merch you could buy was MORE EXPENSIVE. Your fake item costed more than the real item.

Its scummy, it deserves hate. Its corporate encroachment in gaming, doing all they can to push boundaries as far as possible before its no longer profitable.

Ever though that it may be because every game suffers from the same things?

Also Fortnite and CoD are at leas still relevant. OW is not.

They could’ve made a new platform for it. Instead, everyone was robbed of Overwatch and they slapped a different game over something people had already paid for.

Yeah, it’s a different game. But they genuinely should’ve just made an ACTUALLY NEW game if they wanted to do all that crap.

It’s like they went “Here, we have lemonade! But, we removed all the lemons and replaced it with pickle juice, but we still call it lemonade. And yes, we’re keeping your money.”

For me, it’s because they keep nerfing the heroes I enjoy. I haven’t played in a few weeks now.

i dont hate ow. ive decided to find the fun in it. when i dont, a break of 1 or 2 days usually fixes that.

It’s that one kid you knew in college with big dreams and you can see they are capable of pulling off what they set out to do with the resources they have.

Only to find them years later homeless and stealing wiper blades off cars to pay off an nft they brought.

You expected maybe their life to go a little different, but not that drastic and worse.

Ow1 went through several layers of fundamental reworks, like end of OW is a completely different game then it released.

Also regardless if they slapped the two on it or not, 5v5 would have been a thing.

loot boxes are litterialy designed to feed off of people with limited time and gambling addictions.

OW’s highest profit came from when those boxes didn’t have dup protections and really low coin payout. And the practice is not only illegal in several countries, but has had bypartision backing from the US gov to regulate the whole industry if they didn’t knock it off.

And the legal trouble OW2 faced was about how it handled bundles. And was required to sell items separately from each other. Like that was fixed real quick.

You payed upfront for the content, and those boxes were desigend to not payout everything in a given season and were on timers. So you had to pay at some point if you wanted everything at the end of a given season. Unless you reaaaaaaaaaaaalllly no life the game, or wanted to wait a full year.

My sister played it nearly every day and got a 50+ boxes for free at the end of every season and still be missing half the skins. Not uncommon to be the ones she wanted either.

that and well the holidy structure also kind of hurt OW’s ability to do thing’s outside of the given season’s that were already established. Like if they wanted to do something other then the summer games, they would have had to still run SM games because otherwise people wouldn’t have ways to grind out old content form the previous year.

game bad because how they make money off of none game play features oh noooooooooose.

great criticism on everything except the actual game it’s self.

I will agree hereos in the battle pass was scummy that’s gone, and that their should be more ways in game to grind coins. Because if you like you can get most of the content for free by grinding MS rewards off bing.

??? You have 3,000 posts, but you were bored of the game years ago?

Left 4 Dead 2 is an even older game and people aren’t tired of it. People don’t just get tired of games and then decide to blame the game; you have to accept that blizzard has done something wrong here.
