Generally people who are always nauseatingly friendly, aggressively pro lgbt, or champion popular heroes despite them being fairly balanced are gonna be popular.

I only play up to gen 3 but Emerald is the only game I have yet to finish. I felt like there wasn’t a lot of variety in the Pokemon you see and the ones you get are only ok. I do think the actual gameplay - moves, abilities, all that jazz, is excellent in gen 3. I just was underwhelmed my the actual pokemon.
