I actually argue that tanking and playing a DPS aren’t THAT different. Yeah, you have to be more patient as a tank and more selective about your battles, but you still have to be aggressive, and you still have to be able to kill things as a tank. The idea that DPS players don’t know how to play tanks is not one that I think holds up to the light of day.
Yeah, but you could just throw 2 tank games and get a lootbox and 25 coins for your effort and then play DPS without waiting. It is sort of a bad idea just because ain’t nobody going to play the full match. Nah.
Hey, man, it is not his fault role queue is literally unsalvagable. He tries his best and no matter how he tries, we all know none of them will work because role queue is inherently bad for the game.
This type of system should have settings about when to start working and when to stop.
This will create a fourth separate line (the DPS priority line) and someone would say that the low priority DPS line time would increase, but people filling in as tank will end up be playing for those DPS low priority as well.
well, if this was his only idea…
Also role queue in of itself is a good idea. But the “While you wait” that’s on ptr should have been there on d1 and they shouldn’t have taken 4 months before actually balancing something.
So the problem isn’t role queue, but usual blizzard slowness with the updates
It’s just # minutes doing something else, for # minutes less in queue.
If anything it’s probably more minutes not playing DPS, overall.
Since you might play a 15 minute tank game, instead of having a 10 minute DPS queue.
But to spend nearly 100% of that time playing the actual game, rather than something arcadeish, is pretty cool.
I think I specifically know more about concepts involving role queue than most people on this forum
Considering I was repeatedly pushing the idea of Role Queue for about a year, and my last mockup design about a month and a half before it came out was structurally almost identical to the one we got ✅ [2-2-2] Putting RoleQ into Quickplay
Your initial post clearly indicates you have no idea. You cant “trick” the queue system and even if you could making your queue time shorter would only make someone elses longer.
The queue system is just a math algorithm with an actual queue for DPS before it starts actively matching you.
And yeah, it would put you “ahead”, but that’s fine if you are “ahead” playing something else for 15 minutes, instead of going directly into a DPS match in 10 minutes.
