✅ While you wait: Tank Queue

What if they had it so you could choose DPS, and then in addition to the Deathmatch options, it gives you the option to play Tank.

Any time spent on a game of Tank, reduces equivalent time in your next queue for DPS.

Either 1 minute for 1 minute, or some percentage boost to your otherwise queue speed of you only picked DPS.

Ideally almost instant queue into DPS after playing Tank.

Note, if you quit out of the Tank game, it also cancels the followup DPS game.

Note, Also if throwing for lootboxes would be a problem, then just don’t give out lootboxes for while-you-wait-Tank-Queue.

Play tank, throw tank, play DPS.

That’s why you make it time in trade for time.

Throwing a game quickly, or stomping a game quickly isn’t rewarded by that.

I actually argue that tanking and playing a DPS aren’t THAT different. Yeah, you have to be more patient as a tank and more selective about your battles, but you still have to be aggressive, and you still have to be able to kill things as a tank. The idea that DPS players don’t know how to play tanks is not one that I think holds up to the light of day.

Especially after this upcoming patch, where Tanks get to be a lot more aggressive.

And besides which it’s not Tank vs DPS.

It’s Tank vs unwinnable-Deathmatch vs looking-at-a-timer.

I’ve been thinking for a while this would be a great suggestion. Thanks for posting !

Yeah, but you could just throw 2 tank games and get a lootbox and 25 coins for your effort and then play DPS without waiting. It is sort of a bad idea just because ain’t nobody going to play the full match. Nah.

Hey, man, it is not his fault role queue is literally unsalvagable. He tries his best and no matter how he tries, we all know none of them will work because role queue is inherently bad for the game.

People already throw for the lootbox reward, so they kind of don’t care if people throw playing tank.

This type of system should have settings about when to start working and when to stop.
This will create a fourth separate line (the DPS priority line) and someone would say that the low priority DPS line time would increase, but people filling in as tank will end up be playing for those DPS low priority as well.

well, if this was his only idea…
Also role queue in of itself is a good idea. But the “While you wait” that’s on ptr should have been there on d1 and they shouldn’t have taken 4 months before actually balancing something.

So the problem isn’t role queue, but usual blizzard slowness with the updates

Well, I do have somewhat of a fix for that with this.
✅ Fix: Frequent game balance

Also if throwing for lootboxes would be a problem, then just don’t give out lootboxes for while-you-wait-Tank-Queue.

Since playing a legit game-mode probably doesn’t need a carrot.

What makes you such a special snowflake that you deserve a shorter Queue time than everyone else?

Queues are QUEUES… If you want to play dps, wait the time muffin

trading tank games for shorter dps qeue times, that could actually be worth looking into, i like it.

as someone who hate qeue times and don’t want to only go tank constantly this would be really neat.

It’s not really a shorter queue.

It’s just # minutes doing something else, for # minutes less in queue.

If anything it’s probably more minutes not playing DPS, overall.
Since you might play a 15 minute tank game, instead of having a 10 minute DPS queue.
But to spend nearly 100% of that time playing the actual game, rather than something arcadeish, is pretty cool.

Lol this is hilarious. Youve got zero idea how queue times even work.

Its like the entire community thinks the only reason dps queue times are so long is to punish you

Popularity and the amount of people playing the game are the only reasons, btw

I think I specifically know more about concepts involving role queue than most people on this forum

Considering I was repeatedly pushing the idea of Role Queue for about a year, and my last mockup design about a month and a half before it came out was structurally almost identical to the one we got
✅ [2-2-2] Putting RoleQ into Quickplay

Your initial post clearly indicates you have no idea. You cant “trick” the queue system and even if you could making your queue time shorter would only make someone elses longer.

The queue system is just a math algorithm with an actual queue for DPS before it starts actively matching you.

And yeah, it would put you “ahead”, but that’s fine if you are “ahead” playing something else for 15 minutes, instead of going directly into a DPS match in 10 minutes.
