It’s really not.
I see people saying the reason why they feel entitled to complain is because when people complained about Hanzo’s skin last year, it got changed.
What they forget is that Hanzo’s skin was based on a comic that was already out and the skins were noticeably different so they changed it to make the skin more accurate. It wasn’t the same case.

You should have learned by now especially with recent events. If people are expected to pay, likely a lot are, half measures are unacceptable.
Which we are. But then we’re asking them to change something insignificant with no bearing on the game itself, that we’re not obligated to pay for, that’s being given for free in loot boxes.

I already did by simply quoting them.
People aren’t ‘expected’ to pay; at least I know I will not.
I mean… it’s ultimately down to Blizz’s discression whether they change it or not. It’s a cosmetic so it’s not really something I’d expect them to prioritise changing. If not, I guess just don’t buy it? There are other skins out there. Mercy in particular has had consistently some of the best legendaries in the game.

How does a person who supports the artist not have the right to give feedback on the art? Like it blows my mind that people think this way lol…
If they were being commissioned, they’d have to hear this kind of feedback “can you change x color? Can you change this shape? Can you make it look more modern/vintage/x y or z?”
This is the kind of feedback heard in that industry, and this is literally the same feedback being given. I’ve hardly seen any negative feedback on it at all and I don’t see how you think that the people purchasing this art can’t give feedback on it, lol.
They don’t make these skins for free.
They definitely don’t have to change it, but to pretend that the people will potentially try to buy it don’t have a right to give feedback to it is a little silly

Well there are still a lot people in agreement that the skin is nice but the wing color change would make it better. Considering they didn’t touch the wings at all how big of a task can it be? They’re not tweaking the model, its just a pallet swap which someone has already done and proved the point.
I’m not making an argument for or against. My original argument was we shouldn’t talk down to the devs.

Do you consider music art? I can safely assume that you do.
When your favorite artist releases a song/album, do you listen to the preview on iTunes and go “hm… I don’t like this beat/these lyrics, let me communicate it to the artist and see if they can change it for me”?
Or do you just think “Well, not my favorite one, guess I’ll just not buy it and wait for the next one.”?
I’d go for the second suggestion, but to each their own.
I don’t think anyone has done that at all. If anything its people giving feedback being talked down to with posts like this one.
Your profile says otherwise, both in comp and QP Mercy is not near the top of your list…odd flex but go off I guess
Anyways, onto the topic, the twitter post and the forums are flooded with requests to change the Wing Color, so I hope Blizz listens. Any sort of different color would make the skin feel a lot more polished and complete. Even something as simple as a pink or purple to yellow gradient, to keep the yellow aspect but spice it up a bit.
I play on Xbox, did you bother to check the right profile? And even on PC I have a considerable amount of time on Mercy.
…and that’s why people do remix versions and covers all the time. A lot end up sounding better than the original.

Well… do you want a remix of the skin? At this point I would love for them to do that so everyone can stop complaining.
What do you think people have been saying AND showing? Just see for yourself

You know a remix is an altered copy of the original product that doesn’t affect it in any way, right?
There’s nothing wrong with saying what you don’t like about the art, but asking for a change at this point in the process isn’t respectful. The artist chose this. It’s the final product. Plus, not all of us dislike the yellow wings. To me a change in the wings would make them look drab. Does my opinion not count either? They can’t please everyone.

I personally really don’t like the yellow wings, doesn’t mean it wont buy the skin if I dont get it in a lootboxes because the rest of the skin makes up for nearly anything that could have been wrong with it.
What really makes me want Blizzard to change the wing color is that they have changed it in the past and even for an epic skin (the lunar new year epic, with awesome, two toned wings that made a mostly more boring skin amazing). It would be different if Blizzard had never changed it in the past because now that means people can’t argue that yellow is overwatchs healing color because mercy has blue and green wings in some skins.
And you also can’t really argue that it fits to well with the skin either. I’ve been seeing the main argument against any color change being “yellow is complementary to purple” which is true but people need to realize the skin is not purple.
This skin has a range of colors with the main color being a more red violet. Now the reason I point this out is because while it is a small difference in the color it is all the more important to explain with the OG yellow doesn’t work.
Purple and yellow look very good together and yellow can look good with green and blue, as well as the other hot colors. So if the color scheme of the skin has or combines these colors that work well with yellow than yellow should look very good.
Not so much.
The problem arises when the purple that the specific color of yellow the wings complements is slightly changed to the more red side. This wouldn’t be as big of a problem if yellow was more integrated with the design but it isn’t. This leaves us with a color scheme that could be saying as entering a complementary uncanny valley. Where we know that the yellow is off even if it is suppose to match.
Now the point of people being rude about this skin. In the comments made earlier cherry picking if that was the worst you could find I’m honestly proud of the Overwatch community for being able to approach this with their criticism as well as they had. I know I for one have seen mostly well constructed, informative, and valid criticisms and alternatives that I do hope the Overwatch team sees. Most comments go the way of “fantastic skin that could be better” than “the wings ruin this skin” which is leagues above the criticisms of last years skins.

Do you really think it was intentional? I really think it wasnt. They just didn’t bother changing the default.
That’s the problem: They’re fine.
Rest of the skin is great… but the wings are only “fine”.
