The yellow wings are fine

People literally do this all the time, though.

GUD VIBRATIONS literally got changed due to feedback lol.

Second, I don’t think this is a good analogy, because a musician that does corporate work hears the same feedback as a visual artist working in a corporate setting.

Even a studio artist or independent musician will hear this kind of feedback.

Like, it’s a guarantee in those industries. :man_shrugging:t4:

My issue is that there is no other yellow in the skin and it just makes the wing effects so …garish in comparison, like they could be even muted the color a little and it would be better.

(Not in reply but separate)
And also i’ve heard worse criticism of my own work in art school, these complaints are nothing, and as “pro” artists comments like this would probably just roll right off them. I’ve had people ripping my art apart in showcases after it was completed, it’s just how it is.
Even when a piece is finished there are still art critics that go, and then if they don’t like it they publish how awful your work is or everything they think is wrong with it, like, I’ve learned to take a lot of verbal beatings in the world of art, and I don’t even work for a company like blizzard, I’m pretty sure their artists are barely phased by the comments

Yeah I think the issue is they needed to neutralize the color like they did in Sigruns skin.

It looks like it’s a violet skin but it’s actually complementary red violet/blue green skin, and that’s why the bright yellow looks so loud on the skin. I think blue green wings would’ve been perfect, or even recycling the CNY green wings into the skin, but I think that the yellow would’ve been fine if they had muted it and didn’t use the default yellow.

Also didn’t they show us in a video that they had a color slider they use to modify the skins for overwatch league? Why not just throw it in there and play with the slider a little

You have a point, it makes sense. But my main concern with this post was the rude comments, the only intent that I had was to bring awareness to that.

I also gave my two cents on the color choice given the fact that I play (and love) Mercy myself.

Also, just read your response about the criticism and it’s so frustrating, lol. I’ve had deliberate decisions I’ve made in 20+ hour paintings that are done and finished be criticized like nothing. I agree that the feedback on the wings is nothing. People are really invested in that skin. For bad skins or “meh” skins that feedback isn’t given, I remember the feedback for skins like specimen 28 or the winter Mei skin and there was no constructive criticism, just “wow, that’s bad” over and over. It’s obviously a good skin or there wouldn’t be so much feedback about a specific element lol

What I’ve learned since joining this site is Mercy mains like to complain about everything.

You didn’t learn so much.
You should know there are many and many others players who aren’t “mercy mains” suggesting to change the wings color.
Not only here, but also on Reddit, youtube and twitter

I agree that they’re fine, but I do think that another color would be better

I really hope they do change it. Casual Hanzo got changed after it was released after a large number of complaints. We’re only asking for the colour of wings here, which isn’t too much tbh

i actually hope they don’t change the color of them, i’m a fan of the purple/yellow contrast, hell healing is yellow and purple is damage, just look at moira orbs or zenyatta orbs.

It’s not about hero preference. Hanzo’s was changed because it was inspired by the skin on the comic and people wanted them to match.

I’m also a long-time Mercy player (not so much second half of this year, however) and I too didn’t notice the yellow wings until I saw people complaining.

However, I think the double-standards that are bringing complaints against the wing feedback are in poor taste and very hypocritical. Hanzo’s pants and beard never bothered me from last winter and I didn’t get irritated about the complaining.

Just my opinion.

Yeah not only that, the beard really didn’t go well with the whole skin and his hair. it really stuck out, and just didn’t look good.

Politeness never resolved anything when it comes to corporations.
A lot of people “complained” about lootboxes but nothing happened.

It was only after massive angry posts by thousands of people, drop in PR which resulted in drop in stock that Battle Front lootboxes were changed.

The reason for this is a marketing strategy the “Psychological tolerance limit”
Only when mass protests hit they accept something is wrong. As long as it doesn’t reach that point the people are willing to “tolerate it”.

It may shock you, but this game is made by humans. There are artists and modellers out there who are incredibly proud of this skin, but the community belittles them and talks trash about this skin like it’s got no redeemable qualities. If you want to treat people like robots, and not have any respect for them, feel free, but you won’t get anywhere in life if people don’t actually like you.

They are not the ones whose decision it will be to change it.
It will be the people in Marketing \ community which gives feedback to directors \ executives which then orders the artists to change it.

Only extremes sway te opinions of the higher ups, otherwise its not important enough to bring the news to them.

We are talking about one detail in a skin that most people have already said they loved, it’s really not that deep.

We should have a mass protest anyway because it’s butt ugly.

They weren’t really outsourcing concept art either.
