The yellow wings are fine

Honestly, I’m a Mercy main and I can tell you, I didn’t even notice the wings color until after I saw everybody pointing it out on the forums, most complaints aren’t even in a good manner.

If you want your feedback to be heard, at least try to deliver it in a less condescending manner; you guys talk down on everything the OW team does as if they’re not capable of listening to feedback in a nice way.

Honestly, like them or not, given the reported labour conditions in some parts of Blizzard, talking down to these people should be the last thing we’re doing.

remembers all the Hanzo and Mei winter skin feedback

Um… this is nothing. Pretty valid complaints with alternatives. Just because people voice their opinion about something they disagree on doesn’t automatically make it condescending. Majority of posts I’ve seen give valid color alternatives and a lot even have mock ups from photoshop. Those are pretty legitimate complaints

Not only that but yellow is a complimentary color of purple, which is the dominant colour theme in her skin, Although it stands out alot honestly I think it flows quite well.

Exactly. If anything, I’m glad they kept them yellow. I saw the fanart edit and it just blends in too much and makes it look kind of boring having everything the same color.

It’s a complementary color scheme of red violet and blue green, which is why the yellow sticks out like a sore thumb.

In this case it doesn’t really work. There is true violet as an accent color on the chest piece, but it’s so small that it doesn’t really work together.

If they used yellow they should’ve muted it a little more like sigrun tbh. Doubt they’ll change it now but even in theory if it worked they didn’t execute it the best

We need to learn what is a “complain” and what is a “suggestion”

Just a perfect suggestion

It’s not an excuse to be rude just because other players were rude before. And yes, I found posts where people were like “seriously Blizz?”, “Are you guys serious?”, etc.

And you can find a plethora of people who say “Yes please, change! It could be gorgeous” “Yes, Blizz please. Make us a Christmas present”.

You could find, last year, the “WHAT THE F! BLIZZ! SERIOUSLY? THAT STUPID WHITE AND USELESS BEARD? ARE YOU JOKING!?”

They’re only shown during her ULT or GA. Really, I wish we could already see it in-game so you can see it’s really not that big of a deal.

From what I’ve seen, most of the feedback is pretty solid.
And from an artist’s perspective, I myself would want to know how I could make a concept better.
Imo, yellow just doesn’t work as a contrast color, and I’ve seen a variety of edits that are much nicer.

It’s still a nice skin nonetheless, but there’s nothing wrong with constructive criticism.

As a mercy player, the wings are my fav part of her character design and it’s why I rocked valk and sigrun so long when I got the game (and occasionally go back + epic CNY, best done wings of hers imo). So when I saw that something so small took away from what In my opinion had the potential to be her best skin, it kind of bummed me out initially. I’m pretty over it already, the only things I’ve ever seen them revise in 3 years was junkertown and Hanzo, I’m pretty resigned to accept they won’t revise it at all. Still doesn’t mean that yellow was the best choice tho

It’s a glowing yellow that she pops out during Guardian Angel & her Ultimate, Why would they not want it to stick out? In maps with darker color palettes her wings would probably look dull unless they made it a bright pink/purple. (Which would equally look as good or better in some peoples eyes)

Red, Green both have complementary colors similar to yellow that being orange and red, I’ve rewatched the skin reveal mutiple times and I don’t really see what caused such an outrage because really like I said before it flows well with the rest of the color scheme.

Anyways, it’s really down to personal perference then.

Yeah agreed. In school every project I do, I have to sit in a room full of people tear my project apart for 15 minutes. It’s not like whoever made it can’t handle it, and it’s nothing like the Mei feedback (“omg worst skin ever, waaah”).

A lot of the feedback consists of “this is a beautiful skin but I think x takes away from y”, which is pretty flattering that so many people care enough to give that feedback. For zhuque most people just said “that’s cool but not for me”

From what I’ve seen, the posters seem to be the ones giving constructive criticism in the majority of the cases, along with a few people who reply. Then the rest of the replies are people dragging the color choice in a rude way… I ask for feedback all the time irl, there’s a very thin line between constructive criticism and rude behavior.

I like the yellow wings, they provide a nice contrast to the darker, and cooler color palette. Could other colors have been used? Sure, but that is a strong skin design and something like this takes nothing away from it.

This is honestly such a matter of personal taste - I know a lot of people don’t care for yellow (remember that Tracer skin?)

Which was definitely crossed when people called Lucio’s and Zarya’s skins ‘furry skins’ and when there were people literally saying stuff like “After seeing these skins, I really hope insert hero here doesn’t get one”.

And yet, there are more threads complaining about people offering constructive criticism towards the Mercy skin than there are threads complaining about people being extremely rude towards the Lucio and Zarya skins.

I agree. Now let’s make it fair for everyone, we all know all presented scenarios are being inconsiderate, I saw the complaints too, but if you check and see, the top 6 threads on this forum right now are about Mercy’s Sugar Plum yellow wings.

I also decided to point it out because I play Mercy far more than Lúcio and Zarya, so I gave my opinion on a hero I care about.

Constructive criticism is not ‘inconsiderate’. ‘Incosiderate’ would imply that people were being extremely rude and demanding changes, which is most definitely not happening.

And pretty much all of them compliment the skin and offer constructive criticism. There’s only 1 that could be considered ‘rude’, but I don’t even think that one is particularly bad.
