in my experience, players do care that they are being healed, and a higher rate of potential healing per second rate is of little value if the effective/actual rate in game is much lower

Iâm pretty sure the devs are trying to emphasis Mercy is about healing not Rez. Itâs why she got her rework and why she got so many nerfs. Too much of her kit was focused on Rez instead of Valkyrie.
Except you die and wonât succeed in such situation. So your best bet is continue healing, so, at least, remaining 4 teammates have a chance at surviving, instead of being left with no healing.
I pulled off 5 challenging resurrects last night and it saved us the game because they were key-picks the enemy had gotten, and people with Ultimates ready.
But my team stayed alive and I was multi-tasking and zooming around like a madman. I managed to solo-heal just fine and the enemy was getting quite annoyed with being unable to catch me. Itâs all about positioning and timing. Thatâs not always something people can pull off easily.
If the situation is really that dire, the cast time will most definitely work against you. Dire as in 3 of your teammates die and you need to defend this point or you lose. Say you classify this as dire and try to rez one of your tanks while the enemy is busy with others. Theyâll immediately hear the sound and want to stop it because thatâd mean more work for them.

Again as you said healing is more important. Rez shouldnât be a thing that you use because you have it available. You evelauate the situation and decide if it isnât a good time and is safe etc or if you should focus on healing and damage boost.
Well, if it only leads to your own death, then it canât be used in dire situations. Which usually means that your tank is down, and you got nothing to cover you.

Talking from experience with Pharmercy. With other team going 76, McCree, D.va and Widowmaker, we still lost. Sometimes it feels like playing 2v6, honestly.

It just means that our efforts were nullified, and since other teammates were not at best of their game, our defeat was clear.
Itâs just how most of my games go: either I can sit AFK in spawn, and we would win, or I can do everything to keep team alive, but we still would be defeated.
