Stop heal spamming 2k18

You know, when I am on the point as a tank and I don’t get heals while I am trying not to take damage and die while waiting, it really makes me wonder who’s fault it is.

Did i accidently reply to you, i was talking about this whole thread

ill hit i need healing after i die if i have a mercy on my team and i think she might have rez, but i still can’t figure out how something small as using the communication wheel or hitting x matters this much to people

Nah you werent, i was just wondering what you mean with “getting this mad”

Like, so mad youre gonna make a thread about it? Or more like a single post about it? The whole thingy here?

To all non-healer players here that have never played healers, a few information:

  1. If you´re in FRONT of us, we see who hasn´t full health. Your silhouette turns from blue to yellow.
  2. We see when someone´s at critical health, there´s a red cross over your health.
  3. We also see your healthbars. (I think this can be turned on and off for every hero.)

Why is this important?

When we see teammates have a yellow silhouette but one has the critical health symbol, healers will focus on the critical health teammate first, then focus on the teammates that have no critical health yet.
BUT: If you play too agressive, you (and maybe more teammates) can get crit health while healing someone else, or you even die.
You also need to remember that there´s a limit how much every support character can heal. If you get burst damage > healing output, then you die. It happens often that I heal a teammate, but the burst damage they received was too much and they died although I was healing them non-stop.

WE CAN ONLY SEE YOU WHEN YOU ARE IN FRONT OF US.
Don´t get mad when a healer doesn´t heal you even when you´re right behind or next to them. There´s a limit to what we can see on our screens, we don´t have 360° vision, so don´t be afraid to use the “Need healing” button to let your healer know where you are, because we see a cross appear on the screen that points to the direction of the teammate that uses it. But DON´T spam it. It´s just annoying and won´t make the healer move faster to you.
Sometimes, there´s a situation where we can´t get to you. Because you´re on the OTHER end of the map, or we´re dead, just spawned, or heal someone else that´s at crit health, or we simply can´t reach you. Or you´re doing a 1vs6 and we don´t follow you because it´s gonna be suicide, and two dead people in the team is worse than just one person.

Ana can only heal you when she can shoot you.
Brigitte can only heal in an AOE, and her burst healing has a range.
Lucio can only heal in an AOE.
Mercy´s staff has a range, and if you want her to fly up to you, you need to be 3/4 visible for GA to lock onto you.
Moira´s heal has a range and “ammo”, and her burst heal is on a CD.
Zenyatta can only heal one person with the orb, and as soon as you´re out of range or his sight, the healing stops.

Please remember this before blaming the support for your death.

It’s kinda hard to notice that as D.Va, but I appreciate that you’re trying :joy:

Think we’d have better luck convincing blizzard to change ‘I need healing’ to “I’m dead” after death than getting people to stop spamming.

Actually, that’s a good idea anyway. We should do that.

The worst bit for me is always the people who spam it endlessly during comp to the point where I end up missing it if anyone else uses it. I had a McCree die on me because I couldn’t see his call out over our fully healed Zarya spamming it as often as she could. It’s the most frustrating thing & I always report it.

If its QP and people start being idiots (getting angry in chat or toxic) I purposely dont heal them lol. I’ll heal everyone else but you can go find a healthpack.

In comp I find most people are okay. At most they do two but I try to get them to realise over the couse of the game that they just need to hit it once and I’ll get to them if at all possible.

Yes cause as a Reinhardt i’ll definitely 1v1 a Junkrat.

i agree otherwise. But sometimes, in rare occasions, when i play comp or qp i can be 50health next to a mercy or an ana who just decides not to heal, i believe then would be a good time to spam that i need healing

I hate the “I need healing!” button. Yesterday, I was solo-healing as Moira on Rialto, and there was a annoying Doomfist that kept spamming that button. I was solo-healing, so naturally I couldn’t focus on just healing him, going in with him at any time, ignoring my other teammates. Eventually the poor idiot left, we won the game too, but before he left, he made sure that he spammed the button another extra 20 times at full health just to let me know how bad of a healer I was. I know I’m not a good healer cause I never play them, but spamming that stupid button is one way to make me switch to my main Sombra. Just be happy that I’m filling in for support instead of picking your stupid Doomfist after we already have 3 DPS. It makes me sad, so I came here to rant. :sob:

I am not saying that it is right as I know some people do so to taunt and tease the support, but it just depends on the situation to be honestly.

True, I prefer if people use voice comms, but we all know that isn’t a guarantee. Much like healers get harassed, so do many other hero choices, depending on rank, Widow players get harassed for being Widow players so they don’t usually enter comms. Their other option is voice lines, and if they’re only doing it now and then to let healers know their position, than it’s not a huge issue.

Just like tanks/dps have keep tabs on enemies and allies alike so do supports. It’s a supports job to help their allies, it’s part of game awareness. A voice line that helps you in that endeavor should be welcomed as long as it’s not used to spite you, such in the way of spam when someone dies.

This is just a matter of spamming or not.
It’s perfectly fine to use ‘i need healing’ if you actually need them, every healer can have a moment of distraction and fail to notice you are wounded (but he could be actually prioritizing targets).
Using that button more than 2 consecutive times is wrong. no need to spam.

I love the guys who spam “I need healing!” over and over, and literally right behind them is a big health pack.

Situational Awareness Fail detected!

Sometimes we make a mistake and just don’t get to a critical target in time. Sometimes people go from being safe-ish while we take care of someone else to dead before we can even react. Other times some people just won’t be the priority at that moment meaning run away to find a health pack or lace up for that run back.

Generally speaking, if someone dies, there’s a reason for it and it’s largely not due to not being noticed by the healer. Spamming won’t change any of that other than to needlessly piss them off.

The best is being told I suck while at 18k+ heals with Lucio and how they are getting zero heals. As Lucio. You have to actively avoid me and the point we’re sitting on for that to happen. I’ll do my best to accommodate a Pharah or Widow by getting to them best I can but we have to work together on this.

I get a lot of players dying like that, from my experience its cause they have little to none awareness of the other players, and kind of expect to be pocketed.

Example, were engaging 3 people took crit dmg Im just trying to get them behind cover alive, the second they get behind cover and get a shot of healing they immediately start walking back to the fight expecting to me to continue to heal them until they go back to line of fire, and they die. Cause I didnt continue healing them to full cause theres 2 other people on crit that are still IN LINE of fire and need help to get out.

I dont understand the logic of just standing near the fight on no hp when youre behind cover. Move further away or go get a health pack. Im prioritizing keeping the Rein alive that just got CCd and smacked around and you get killed by a freakin Moira orb cause for some reason you cant bring yourself to move a couple of meters away until we save the people actually taking dmg at the moment, or grab a health pack. Nah youre going to stand still 2 meters from the fight on no hp and wait for a random bit of dmg to kill you.

If there are people taking the brunt of the enemy fire at the moment you that are standing behind cover are simply not the priority. Theres only 2 healers for 4 people, and in my mind youre safe and I need to save the other people who arent behind cover and are taking dmg.

Why 2K18? Instead of 2018? Trying to be fancy?
