No one but blizzard cares more about the viewing experience of OWL than how the game actually plays.
Good luck actually getting ppl to spend money on OW2.

I see.
So we can all blame GreyFalcon.
It really did come out of nowhere. I had not even considered it until devs announced on the livestream
I hope they reconsider before they get too deep into development
5v5 is fiscally driven. Actual gameplay is secondary. It let’s them make due with a smaller and less talented dev staff. It let’s them simplify the game and attract a larger player base. It let’s them potentially go battle royale. It let’s them go mobile. It let’s them compete directly with successful esports like apex, warzone and fortnite. It let’s them retain their largest demo(dps). And so much more.
It’s 100% a business decision. Nothing wrong with that, they’re a company after all. But it’s worth keeping in mind that ‘accessibility’ drives every decision they make because accessibility typically translates into dollars. Quality is secondary. It just needs to be “good enough”.
Role queue
5v5
I have been asking for 122, so there you go. it was me
I do think tanks should be changed the role is unpopular and killing queue times
OW2 will be fine. people that like tanking now are a minority thats killing queue times. its not popular and something big needs to be done
5v5 will be easier for the Devs to balance and easier for the vast majority of the player-base to understand. Hopefully it will balance queue times too for all the cry-baby dps simps out there “My queue times are massive but I don’t want to play anything else, I just want brain off pew pew.” Who knows how that’s going to affect the tank players who could share the burden of responsibility with their fellow tank. Once they realize how hard they’re going to get sh!t on being the only one taking care of that role for the team, they might just toss in the hat and yeet dps with the rest of them. Going to make OWL more dynamic in my opinion and that’s good for the brand which is good for the community as there will be more interest and so more players and thus more reason for ActiBlizzard to put out fresh content. Only time will tell. Shields up! Fingers crossed!
The playerbase doesn’t know what it wants. It’s impulsive and makes decisions without thinking.
I don’t think I ever asked for 5v5, but I do want it.
Tanks are impossible to balance properly due to synergy & the nature of the role.
Orisa is in the state she is now because of synergy, with only 1 tank per team tanks can be balanced individually instead of how they perform alongside X Y & Z tank
Also queue times should be way better since half the tanks will be required to start a match, and tanking should feel better to play too
No, it os alot of tank player sounding the warning flag that so tanking is not or ever will ne fun, no matter how you buff or rework them solo tanking will turn the role into a chore every game, i can garentee that many will leave the roke, some will stay ro try it nut very soon they will leave the role too, you will see tank numbers fall drasticly again
It’s hard to tell what the meta will do this early on because it depends on Blizzards balance but it’s possible that the meta will still be defined by tanks.
The changes to tanks is to make them more like DPS/Brawlers. They’re making them stronger individually while nerfing shields. DPS players are going to have to be able to protect themselves way more.
I think brawling will appeal to more people but not necessarily tank mains now. we wont need as many either so 5s is likely to succeed imo
Yeah, but that was most likely due to them not releasing any new content at all. THis wont solve the tank q problem, because tank players will quit
Thats literally the opposite of what will happen
The only person who matters at Activision-Blizz: Bobby Kotick wanted 5v5 so he could make the big moneys like COD.
So he could afford his second yacht.
I don’t like it, but the more I think about it, the more fun it’ll be to play DPS. Extra DPS queue times inbound!
You know, devs don’t have to wait for someone’s request to do something.
It’s like saying they shouldn’t add any new and unknown to us gameplay mechanics, because they weren’t asked to.
Fans wanted Diablo 4. They got a mobile game.
Fans wanted tanks balanced then damage lowered. They got 5v5 with all dps getting a movement speed buff.
Good old Jeff revealed 2-2-2 to us and it’s so nostalgic to watch it again.
Blizzard need to keep working on making the game better in a 2-2-2 format. 2-2-2 is the most balanced and fun way to play Overwatch. 2-2-2 has been working perfectly fine, there is no need to change it to something that is worse.
