Well, i don’t think reworking and changing what people see as those specific tank heroes will solve the issue that tanking isn’t fun.
Also turning all tanks into brawlers, seems like something that was already complained about in the form of hog (eg, being an big DPS rather than a tank).
But also the issue of teamplay - if you have a tank that isn’t working with the team, you have the second tank to fall back on, and work with. Now if you get a bad tank, that’s it - that’s game for you.

Indirectly? Probably a lot. While RQ improved increased match quality and also made for better balance, queue times has been an issue. A lot of people probably left because it took too long to find games even if those games would feel better than previously. Metas have also been a reason that people leave the game, IE GOATS and Double shield.

Changing their playstyle to appeal to the majority should help.
It’s a different scenario in the context of the 6v6 game though, where tanky tanks were by and large more useful.
That’s yet to be seen. One thing that the changes should help with is increasing the potential for individual plays and decreasing the mandatory nature of teamwork.
What I’m saying is it could really go either way, but a lot of it will depend on the changes the devs make.
If you’re still doing plays, it’s not bad.

And i highly doubt the devs will make huge changes to DPS to make tanking more bearable when their whole idea is to change tanking to be more dps-y.

Well they’ve already started reducing CC, so.
Cc was the poor man’s excuse for why tanking succs. Right up there with burst damage. But the truth is sadly something the developers can never fix… Helen Keller teammates.

Tracer, Widow, Ashe, Hanzo don’t really have huge CC nor will the CC that they have get much of a touch.
The only hero that is within that bracket is McCree but i don’t know how much of a change he would get to his flashbang without making it useless

Interestingly, they’ve also pointed out hyper mobility and snipers as things they are planning to keep an eye on.
But there’s really no argument to be had here yet. We can only wait to see what the devs are going to do with them, if anything at all.
I like 5v5, I hate the fact that tanks always decide the meta just because they’re the strongest. Tank will finally be more of a role to protect teammates instead of dps with triple health, and receive all the healing. Queue times are also shorter so it’s an easy +

Well, as a tank player I hated the news when I first heard it. While we love that tank synergy in OW1 let’s be honest with ourselves and say how many times that happens. I’m curently in a spawn of 480 SR lose streak and every game there’s a hog that it’s really bad dying off somewhere alone like there’s a crazy conspiracy and that player would not play anything else, one time I picked hog myself the second round and the guy left.
The way blizzard presented this to us was terrible but if they are really going to make individual players more inpactful, as a tank player, now, I’m looking forward for 5v5.

DPS one-tricks. I mean, not literally, cause they just wanted tanks nerfed. Well, now tanks have gotten the biggest nerf in history. And nothing shown proves solo tanks are gonna be good. There were either no changes (Hog, D.Va, Hammond) and just nerfs with shift to DPS focus (Rein’s shield having even less HP).

Again, DPS one-tricks. At least until they get tilted a sniper is one-shotting them all the time because the one tank they have is Hog or something. But then they’re just gonna blame and report the Hog for not picking a “main tank”.
Not 5v5 specifically but I thought they could’ve had a decent go at 132. I didn’t think it would be great as there would be too much damage for the Tanks/Supports, but I don’t think they went far enough in their experimental changes to give it a fair assessment.
5v5 could be interesting. Less damage coming in, fewer bodies to heal and as someone who primarily solo Tanks less troublesome synergies to deal with when my team doesn’t have any >_> easier to group up too.
Of course it’ll all depend how they adjust the off tanks. Personally I’m quietly optimistic as a lot of Tanks had to be held back due to their overbearing synergy. It’ll be an interesting shake up if nothing else
