Well thankfully the game is called Overwatch 2 and not Taking Suggestions.
The reason role queue was introduced was because it was needed, not because people asked for it. Also the reason for 5v5. By the way: Role queue was also because tanks are simply too much. Three of them broke the game. Two of them limit game design space. One will be good for the game, and that’s all that matters.
As to the claim that “the vast majority of people don’t like it”: First, citation needed. You have no data to make such a claim. Second, even if it were true, whether people like it or not is 100% irrelevant as no one knows how it will play once the game is balanced around that idea.
They are getting Diablo 4 too. Anyone with half a brain knew at the time it was being made.
Work with me here. Yes I know there is a diablo 4.
The point i’m trying to make is we asked for a better game and we received what Blizzard thought was a good deal. We didn’t have a chance to voice our opinions before they started development on Diablo mobile, or OW2. It took a healthy dose of embarrassment to get Diablo 4 development rolling.
This theme with Blizzard that will continue. My poorly written parable was the ugly envelope with a message.
I mean, Paladins is 5v5, League of Legends is 5v5, Rainbow 6 Siege is 5v5, Valorant is 5v5.

This entire comment is delusional.
Blizzard didn’t need any “embarrassment” to make a sequel to one of their tentpole franchises. Get a grip.
And the idea that they need to ask permission of their fans to start a project is laughably childish. It’s beyond absurd. I almost can’t believe you actually typed that out.

… I dont know why OP and many others actually think this is a “democracy” or like everyone gets to decide. This is THEIR game, they are open to feedback and they will fix problems the way they see fit.
Player adapts to the game, not the other way around.
Where did I type this out? Seems like weak fallacy attempt to me, make it seems like I’ve said something else I didn’t, or you inferring what you took from my comment as some sort of fact.
Yeah I think our opinion does matter and I don’t think i’m delusional for thinking that. There is no evidence they started on diablo 4 before their “don’t you guys have phones?” embarrassment. Yes, in my opinion it was butt blasting embarrassment.
So what is it you’re trying to say exactly? That our opinion doesn’t matter and my lose descriptive analogy makes zero sense when sense can be made there if you’re looking to think about what I’m trying to say.
What is it? Trust Blizzard despite a decade of evidence? You do realize people emotionally invest into these games right?
I don’t think I’ll mind it. It’s not like I saw Overwatch and said to myself “Yes! It’s 6v6!”. That part really didn’t matter. I might have enjoyed 5v5 or 32v32. Though, I am still annoyed they went hero limits and then role queue, I guess this is just the natural course of things. Also, I want more slots for players for workshop, it would be fun to mess with.
They hide it under a label called ‘carry potential’. Lets be real, casual matches around similar SR where never about who’s the best player in a team, but the weakest one. That’s why players struggle with climbing no matter how well they play.
Then what WILL fix the problems?
I was pretty clear, I think you have no idea what you’re talking about, and you aren’t worth having any further discussion with. Blizzard didn’t get bullied into making Diablo 4. I don’t know how else to communicate to you how absurd that idea is, so I’ll just leave it at that.
I dunno, a half dozen GOAT-status, genre-defining games seems pretty decent to me. But you had to watch a commercial one time that you didn’t like, so we’ll just throw all that out the window, I guess.
No, that’s not how capitalism works. Customers decide with their wallets. If they don’t like it, they leave.
For Blizzard/Activision, it’s irrelevant if it’s good game or not. All that matters is if it’s a profitable product or not. The decision to go to 5v5 has got nothing to do with the game itself, it’s a business decision, one that could be successful or kill the product. You can still get a sh17 game either way.
Certain DPS who claim that priority pass was a success but still complain about queue times
If priority pass was a “success” like both company and certain DPS claim, how comes matches since then have drastically lowered in quality?
It turns out that the quality of the match no longer matters, but it’s more important for DPS to get a quicker game, I wonder why Paladins (which also has 5v5) and other games don’t also do this forced 1/2/2 hmm…
let 5v5 be like paladins, no force role queue.
Let’s be real… the OW community won’t be happy until it’s 0-5-0

Well, it’s a bit weird how they didn’t learn from role queue on WoW
2 hrs for LFR/20 min for dungeon if you’re DPS, then if you’re healer it’s like half that time and if you’re tank it’s instant lol
and honestly, wouldn’t be surprised, i’ll just go bk to TF2 if that’s the case lmao.
I don’t play Blizzard games, OW brought me to Blizzard, I was a long time TF2 player, those people that whined may actually still hate and have never tried OW.
I’m interested to see if Blizzard acknowledge the sentiment of their players on this one. Jeff did acknowledge that 1/3/2 was received poorly in 2020.
And, if they do decide to rethink, will they figure out how to make the far more interesting 2 tank, 3 damage, 2 support work?
I kind of read into this specific point of the AMA commentary:
- In 1/2/2, Main Tanks will have more damage options, while “off tanks” will become beefier and resistant to damage.
To me this means that it’s really 0-3-2 where the the tanks are just harder-to-kill dps. Then when we consider the damage options of most supports, it’s really gonna feel like 0-4-1 where one player is main healing the other 4 chasing kills, if not entirely 0-5-0.
I really dislike this gameplay style in OW1 to begin with. I’m sure others will like it, but it doesn’t sound like it’s for me and I know some who prefer chess more than checkers will feel the same way.

People asked for faster queues. This is a way for that.
