So, in a recent article, Jeff himself has said that he wants to see Overwatch trend slightly more in the FPS direction, rather than the MOBA direction"

Overwatch came first, and was designed to be more FPS than MOBA.

If I wanted a more FPS oriented game, there are plenty to choose from.

Part of Overwatch’s success was because it wasn’t just a shooter.

Wrong, there is a meta and some agents are mandatory.

Not really, the reason there is a meta is because of the skills of agents.

Trend slightly more in the FPS is not “going full FPS” btw.

We don’t want Valorant, we want Overwatch. Overwatch needs to cement its identity. Being cs:go with powerups is stupid and I absolutely detest that idea in all it’s forms.

That’s exactly what someone who isn’t getting good would say!

If OW is supposed to become more fps’ish, why is the hacker hero which disables abilities and turns it into a raw gun fight not allowed to be viable?

But having only one of a role would mean that losing the tank is rly bad for the team.

because I can’t accept that I don’t actually have god aim

What hero do you mean? Sounds fake

Every FPS ever made is about damage per second.

Old OW didnt went an FPS direction. It was a MOBA. Jeff DOESNT want the game to go that direction.

Old OW wasnt an FPS first. DPS werent op back then, the othet roles were actually effective & big heals and big defense werent even needed(until the DPS buffs started).

Well, Blizzard forgotten that since the OWL started.

OW is already slightly in that direction. There’s nothing else to do than to fully do it.

Old OW will never come back.

Its something anyone that isnt delusional when it comes to all the Tank & Healer nerfs, would say.

You cant say those roles are still good when NERFS keep affecting them, but not DPS. You’re just handicapping yourself if you still use them at this point.

Not allowed? Her hacks were always broken, leaving everyone defenseless. If the whole roster was DPS, that hack would no longer be necessary.

FPS games have other qualities other than DPS. FPS games are known for their solo carry potential and lack of CC.

I can’t agree with that sentiment. I don’t just whine and complain about nerfs all day, I play the game and get good. Adapt and overcome, or you’ll never be happy.

Adapting is how one becomes good at life, it’s a healthy strategy.

Which will make the game less unique. Overwatch shouldnt be like CS:GO…

Who said that making the game more of an fps means making every hero a dps? A lot of dps heroes are straight up not typical fps heroes, such as Genji, Echo, Doom, Tracer and a lot of supports are already fps heroes, like Bap and Ana. And you have projectile heroes which are pretty unique to OW

Well, that might be true to some extent, but if you make tanks super durable, in a 132 scenario too, they can just be ignored because it’s not worth the risk or the time to take them down, they won’t draw the aggro, the game turns into DPS trading damage and flanking supports, while tanks fight themselves in the objective.

Doesn’t turning the game into an FPS defeat the original purpose of the game entirely? I bought this game and enjoyed it because it was unique in comparison to all the other games I play. If I want to play an FPS I’ll play rainbow six or COD

The MOBA elements are what drew in a lot of the players base. At launch the game felt more like a moba & less like an FPS and is what got so many players hooked on it in the first place. They shouldn’t try to change it to be more a FPS, being a Moba/FPS Hybrid is the reason the game was so successful at launch.

“Queue time: 30 minutes or more”

Heh not in Open Queue

Overwatch has some hugs hitboxes, to the point the stretch out nearly 1.50 past the model, and a lot of supports and syms case nearly 2 times.

And on another note rien, hog, torb, reaper, Mei, winston, D.va, symetra, Mercy.

All relied on very wide spread/ autolock/ AOE mechanics in their primary fires.

not to mention Mcree, Sodlier, Lucio, Zen, Zarya and Junkrat having ultimates and abilities that either autolock, or effect massive AOE areas.

Overwatch has always been a game of accessibility from the very start and no matter how many Morias or brigs they add to the game, that will never change.

I fully agree with Jeff, but the important one is the implementation. How to convert from MOBA-heavy style to FPS-heavy style? There are tons of possibilities and some can be shiny, but some are not.

The first problem of barriers and heals is that they were just too ez and stable in the perspective of shooting. The second one is that the whole team depends on that too heavily, especially barriers. I think one of the reason of the scarce population of tanks is “too heavy responsibilities”.

I think barriers should be nerfed. Some tanks use barriers infinitely and it’s sick. For heals, they should be adjusted also, but I think not the numbers, but their “control aspect” should be changed to more aim-heavy style.
