Looking at her initially I as well thought she was going to be very weak, and I still think she is going to have issues. However often what happens in games is people completely forget about DoT/HoT.
She can give herself (and party) more max HP. The big thing to consider however, her quick melee with knife charged causes DoT, which she gets all that damage as HoT. Her Carnage is a frontal cleave which is DoT/HoT.
Anything with range is going to completely shred her, however if she gets in close I think any team fight she is going to be a nightmare to deal with. Considering she can buff her run speed 30% she might end up being someone that gets in people faces and causes them to panic.
They said her DoT stacks with Ashe fire so thats a good place to start. Ashe fire is 20/sec over 5 seconds. Assuming Queen’s DoT is 10-20 dps, then in a team fight thats anywhere from 10-100 HoT per second.
I do think her ultimate is just going to be bad though. They said it charges slow, it has a long wide up, and it slows what is supposed to be a fast high aggression character down. “we know its bad but lets just see what happens” ?_? lol. I think her ultimate will be like Pharah or Cassidy where its a liability unless in a perfect spot.
Gotta love these “expert” judgments from people who I think didn’t bother to watch the interview with the devs and Flats on JTQ where they literally address all these points… on a character they haven’t even had any experience in actual play with.
Genuinely don’t care if it’s making half the Tank roster invalid.
The issue is pretty similar to how they nerfed Tracer when they removed a bunch of CC from the game.
Wouldn’t it make sense to do the same for ranged oneshots, when they removed barrier spam from the game, but have done almost nothing to accommodate for that.
That said, let’s take a look at the “Power budget” on damage boost Supports.
Zen: A little bit too much
Ana: OP AF
Mercy: Feeling a bit underwhelming like she needs something more, but devs need a justification for a buff.
Did they really? Because I actually felt like the problem was bigger than expected after watching that.
Like the “referenced” the problems on the hero, but it feels like they got handwaved away as not a big deal.
Meanwhile unless there’s some really hidden mechanics we aren’t aware of, then they are walking into a marketing landmine where GM’s will counter the character into F tier within minutes of the beta launching. [OW2] Let's hope Junker Queen is designed well
Couldn’t care less about marketing, insofar as this question of JTQ is considered. The beta is not open to everyone, it’s a beta, and the success or failure of OW 2 absolutely does not in any shape or form depend upon JTQ. Beta Phase 2 should not be looked at as a marketing maneuver. If JTQ “fails” in her first iteration (I actually don’t think she will be except maybe in Masters+), it won’t really matter.
