Role queue KILLED the game

You are in the minority if you prefer open queue. I’m pretty sure I remember there being forum polls about this

I highly doubt OW2 will launch with open queue as the standard mode

2/3 of role queue takes bribes to even remotely function.

that tells you the majority (of what is still left after being killed off by handcuffs) would prefer OPEN.

You just don’t have arguments in favour of rolecuffs while bribes are in play.

Sorry, I’m not confident they catch lightning in a bottle twice. Especially without the original devs behind the helm.

Good, This game could use less Cowboy mains.

It depends from what their definition of fun for tanks would be.

What?

The fact that more people play role queue than they do open queue tells you that the majority of players prefer role queue. You can pick either or.

No worries, you’ll be pleasantly surprised

Judging by a lot of the changes and experimentals, the words “meat shield” and “fat DPS” come to mind. I hope I’m wrong. But I’d be fooling myself if I thought they won’t mess this up.

At least tanks will enjoy being able to single-handedly troll their team. As you are stuck with that one tank for whole round.

Lol so true, can’t wait to catch all the hate for being the one solo in a group of duos.

You think they will add a team vote system? So your team gets to pick which tanks you are allowed to play?

No, I mean that single player on tank will have great power at their hands, as ONLY tank this team will have.

It’s literally “do as tank player said, or play without tanks at all”.

Only the minority of people that are left playing, lol.

Which I’d say is a HUGE minority of the people that actually played when open queue was the main mode. aka everyone left when RQ was implemented.

I like open and rq, glad there is an option. Played a match of open last night where my team had 5 dps and one tank (me). Two dps spammed we need a healer for the entirety of round 1 control before quitting. I guess they were not volunteering. Always good for a laugh and a cluster of chaos but it’s a good thing RQ exists imo.

You have it backwards… More people left Overwatch during open queue because it took way too long to implement role queue. If role queue was in at launch we’d probably have a much larger playerbase right now

You might be right. However, I think it would have been in an even better position if competitive only allowed stacks of six and there was an LFG system from the start.

Role queue would not have been needed at all if the only way to competitively play was find like minded people to play with. People who have already committed to their roles regardless of how many of each there are.

If you want competitive to be mostly deserted, sure. As pre-made stacks always were minority, even before role queue.

It’s to late for the solution now. I was talking about at the start. Day one. Before people formed habits and grew accustomed to solo.

It would not have been deserted if LFG was available day one. It would have improved the experience by setting pre-mades as the standard. Good experiences attract more people by word of mouth. A pre-made team of people you know or atleast know what they are going to play is a better game experience and having that be the standard for EVERYONE means a more consistently fair match maker.

Those habits were formed before game itself. It’s not a secret, that many gamers aren’t very social, so amount of single, isolated players in any game would always be high.

Might have been the best thing for your perceived experience, but it clearly was not for the health of the game.

It’s also not a secret that many gamers are also very competitive and overcome any social anxiety to get that competitive experience. It is also not a secret that those with social anxiety prefer to play with friends rather than strangers. Making a premade of friends very possible.

There is a reason TF2 had a very active grass roots competitive scene despite it not being publicly accessible and requiring premade’s.

We already have examples of premades working with even LESS accessibility. Which means one with a LFG and in game matchmaking would only increase access and attract people with the competitive mindset.

This idea that every mode should be for everyone is what makes a lot of games fail. Competitive should be for competitive players.
