#reworkMercy | Any Thoughts?

Ultimately, putting in one of the rework characters as a new hero would do the same thing as reworking Mercy, except that you get to still keep Mercy.

I agree in that a hero with abilities similar to what people have been suggesting about her would certainly help. I think the problem is that there aren’t enough ultimates that directly check bad ult economy, and Q spam. We definitely need more of them. Regardless, I still think that the impact of Mercy, or rather the lack therof, needs to be looked at.

I just made a Mercy rework idea:

I don’t know. There’s transcendence and sound barrier. Are they sufficient? Do you just want more ults like that?

Sym’s ult can actually check a lot of ult spam since having it up completely ruins a lot of ults.

except - as I understand it,the developers are 100% against bringing mass rez back into the game regardless of whether it is Mercy or a new character

so I dont think the revertmercy folks can get what they want, either way

Hah, you want to remake Ying? I always though Ying was the least interest/fun of the Paladins healers. Super imaginative, though.

Personally I always liked Jenos.

Yeah, mass rez can’t come back on a different hero, either.

But there have been some other ults suggested like the one with the big healing spear that makes a healing area (probably inspired by Destiny 2’s new solar warlock super). That might be fine.

Our experiences differ

I find Mercy to be very impactful, even before the recent set of 2 buffs, and with those buffs is now even more impactful

Personally, I dont think the revertmercy folks would like that

I actually like your suggestions there. I’ve seen a similar Ying inspired kit for Mercy a while back (I forget the name). I think it would work pretty well, and certainly wouldn’t mind this making it’s way towards live in some shape or form.

Resonance makes Ying better at blowing people up than Junkrat. I like how Paladins healers usually have options to damage and heal at the same time, which is what I wanted for Mercy with my suggested rework.

I don’t really get why people want this for Mercy, though. There are Overwatch healers who can do damage and heal at (nearly) the same time - it’s called “All of them but Mercy”. Why change the last remaining one instead of playing any of the others?

At this point it is probably in your best interest that you don’t partake, because you’re not really doing yourself or your movement any favors and just giving my reason for being on this thread more validity.

I would like to be able to use Mercy’s pistol more.

Ana can’t really heal and damage at the same time outside of Biotic Grenade. But Ana’s burst healing allows her to spend more time doing damage than Mercy.

Yeah, that’s why I said ‘nearly’. But Ana can transition smoothly from shooting an ally to shooting an enemy that’s nearby. I’ve often healed someone up and then finished off their target.

But if you want to know what stops Mercy from shooting, it’s not her healing, it’s damage boost. It’s nearly always a better idea for both your ult economy and your team’s performance to damage boost if you’re not healing. That’s Mercy’s offensive contribution, and why she doesn’t get to shoot.

I also gave Mercy a damage boosting clone so she can use her pistol and damage boost at the same time.

A long time ago, I had a simple change to make Mercy more fun. It was - remove damage boost, left click heals, right click shoots. But since then I’ve seen enough Mercy players that just don’t want to shoot or do any direct offense. I think not having direct offense be a responsibility is part of what draws people to Mercy.

Mercy could choose to use her pistol while her clones heal or damage boost. Or she could choose to stack her own healing or damage boost with the clones.

Just dropping this.

Top Mercy players and pros talking the movement, even the best Mercy in ladder.

SpoilerThey don't want her reworked
