When playing on PS4 just woke up from sleep, friends list would be always empty with no way to refresh. Only solution found so far is to close and restart the game.
This issue has been around for at least more than half year and reported by many other users.
This has been a bug for months now and its really annoying, you are forced to restart the game every time it happens.
Anyway, what happens is that the friend list simply disappears and says that you dont have any friends, and you become unable to join or accept invitations of other groups
Any idea of why this happens? i read a comment a while ago of a person that also has this issue
I’m not sure if anyone else on PS4 is having this happen, but occasionally when I start my game, I’ll get an error message before the game transitions to the menu and it will say my friends list is completely empty when I have about 400 friends…
I’m not sure if this is something happening with Overwatch itself or if it’s happening with PSN, but next time it happens, I’ll try and get the error code, but it doesn’t happen too often
When you resume from sleep mode now, the friends list is empty on the PS4. This is a recent bug. Please see image:
if you close the app and re-open, the friends list is populated correctly.
Repro Steps:
Suspend your PS4 while playing overwatch.
Turn back on Ps4, hit X to re-login in to server
See error message “an error has occurred”
Friends list in game says you have no friends.
This worked correctly prior to the latest game update.
Whenever I log in to Overwatch and try to join/create a group with my friends, it glitches and says my friends list is empty, and won’t allow me to join any group invites unless I restart the whole application.
This used to only happen occasionally, but now it happens every time I log in after the app has gone idle.
I usually just put my PS4 to sleep rather than shut it down entirely when I’m not using it in case any apps need to update in the background. Has anyone else been having this probl…
When clicking on social no friends appear and the avoided player list disappears.
So yesterday was one of the worst days for gaming imo. There was many technical issues with Overwatch and updates going on which took hours to complete and PlayStation maintenance as well. After things finally cooled down, a little earlier today, I logged into Overwatch and it says I have no friends. I don’t know if this is an issue within the game itself or psn, but I thought I would bring it to the attention of the Overwatch Technical Support Team just in case.
Fix: Reboot the game. Close App…
EDIT: This still happens on PS4 as of Apr 18, 2019.
