The biggest problem with Mercy right now is that she hardly requires any thought into using her kit, and subsequently doesn’t deliver much in the way of potential impact when it’s her time to shine (ultimate). High risk and low reward, not to mention boring as hell. Hide in a doorway/behind a wall, keep LOS and have toggle beam on so you don’t need to hold the left mouse button. I used to go and get a drink from the mini-fridge sometimes. She can’t do anything else when resurrecting someone, not even defend herself with her pistol. The only positives she has are high mobility, resurrect if it’s safe enough (never should’ve been a standard ability though) and consistent healing output.

Personally I’d be happier if one or both of the following were done:

  • Reduced Valkyrie ultimate duration to around 6 to 8 seconds
    Why? It lasts too long and feels diluted.
  • During Valkyrie, increased healing output on target (not chained targets) by 50% to 75%
    Why? To compensate for the reduced duration of the ultimate, to make it feel like it’s an ultimate again and to make Mercy’s think a little in terms of prioritising those who are low on health from some burst damage. It can also help to potentially mitigate some some burst damage unlike at the moment where it can barely do so.
  • During Valkyrie, no more unlimited ammunition
    Why? It only encourages the most engaging and only slightly more impactful part of the ultimate, to be Battle Mercy and not to help your team survive.
  • During Valkyrie, ever so slight GA speed buff
    Why? It just feels a little too sluggish right now, it’s quite easy for you to be shot down so you’re better off hiding at the moment (which defeats one of the goals the re-work had).

  • For resurrect, make it so Mercy can continue to heal or damage boost a nearby teammate during cast time, or alternatively defend herself with her pistol.
    Why? Resurrecting someone is risky, quite frankly it should never have been made a standard ability. However, at least Mercy can still participate during cast time rather than pretty much be forced to go AFK for almost two seconds.

I am not a fan for the simple reason that it would make Mercy’s ultimate even less engaging, and that is one of my two biggest gripes with it. There has to be a better way of re-balancing her.

I do understand where this idea is coming from, but it does not solve the problem that Valkyrie has. Sure, it would be a bit stronger, but as well even more bland, un-unique, more brain dead and boring.

I don’t think it would help, really. It makes it more a better Nano-boost than Ana’s and that for everyone.

I don’t think you can justify this massive buff with the current state of mercy. Talk about overkill for an already good hero and ult.

I do agree with most of that post, but the last part of it is a bit unreasonable.

That would make her stronger as well, sure. But it wouldn’t make her more skillful or engaging and the beam-prioritization would be just the same. Valkyrie would stay mostly equal to what it is now, but stronger.
It would, as well, just be another “in the short run” fix.

Well in exchange for making her ult more potent, you would decrease the time so overall it still has the same healing potential

People are asking for a more engaging ult for Mercy and that is the opposite of engaging, you’re making the ult even more passive.

Honestly, this was my idea.

Sounds good, bad In practice.

We already have a ult that A0E’s a DMG boost. And if we add it to mercy it would become useless. Don’t get me wrong, love the idea, but it would make another ult kinda trash.

Where did you get this information from? Its actually the complete opposite. She has a very underpowered ult that is boring to use and has absolutely no effect on a teamfight. It actually caused her to lose more then when she didnt use it.

@OP, I dont like the beams being combined. The ultimate already simplifies the character so much and makes everything you do 10x easier. I want a change that rewards skill and decision making, not a change that makes it harder and harder to tell the difference between a Bronze Mercy and a Grandmaster Mercy because thats the issue we have right now.

I worked really hard to learn and play the best on old Mercy, yet with new Mercy no matter what I do all our gameplays look the same. I cant heal any better or make my rez go off more efficiently. I’d like Mercy to have a low skill floor (because shes supposed to be easily accessible ^^) but a high skill ceiling so that people who main her can actually be rewarded for putting time into her and practicing her.

I dont think connecting the beams will help with this, and would end up making Mercy feel even more like a spectator mode.

buff Orisa’s ult while we are at it. but yes i could see this being done with a slightly reduced duration.
