As a stat on some screen you can hide. If you play competitive you get branded and placed, every season and there are rewards (lets please NOT argue on it, you get stuff other people don’t) for performing near the top.
Well as I said smash is kind of a weird gray area. The games that it was iterated upon were 100% casual. But with smash ultimate it definitely been designed more towards competitive. The gray area comes from that it’s still on the base of a casual game.
So your definition of casual is “I think it’s easier to play than ‘real’ competitive games”?
Mostly it comes down to the feeling of did I deserve the win. If I feel like I actually used my skill then I would claim it competitive. But OverWatch isn’t like that. I could just run around with any character and still get a win. And I’m not talking about winning the game. I’m talking about little tiny wins. Like you trying to go after Widowmaker.
All it does is hide the balance issues that the devs don’t know how to fix
I understand you may be exaggerating a little, can we not? Nobody wins by walking around. If you play at a statistically “high” level you CANNOT get any value out of ANY character by walking around. You gotta shoot/heal do SOMETHING at the right time and place. There are skills that require less mechanical skill, totally true. There are skills that are forgiving, totally true. But this game allows a level of competitive and skillful play that a great many of us cannot and will never achieve.
Your title is a false premise. I have friends in Silver and Gold who love role queue.
As a matter of fact, most people I talk to outside this forum (and half the people within the forum) like role queue.
You’re just wrong. There’s no other way to put it.
Cs: go -> spam op weapons
League of legends -> spam or ban op champions
What’s your point ?
What is this nonsense people get wins in sports IRL all the time that they either got a lucky catch, a player got injured, etc etc what your saying about deserving a win makes no sense a W is a W. Any game that ranks you and that rank is determined by wins and losses is competitive. Not to mention OW has literally thousands of pros and videos explain mechanics of the game, how to exploit animation cancels, map roll outs, if you have a problem with the game fine but at least don’t mask your bull**** with this nonsense
If your icon indicate what you play, I am not surprised at this nonsensical attitude.
And I am in plat and absolutley hate it
The main issue here is that Jeff himself said that with implementing Role Queue will come hefty amounts of balance changes.
So far we’ve only like what, gotten one balance patch?
Role Queue isn’t the problem per se, it’s that the devs are literally lacking with everything, if the leaks are anything to go by they’re all probably occupied with Overwatch 2 - whatever that is.
Also, having the game on Switch doesn’t exactly help either, they now have to go through Sony and Nintendo’s patch clearance.
I’m not sure how I was connected to your response, but a decent read.
Facts. The amount of constructive feedback that were given should of made this game more appealing, but they chose to go with their own motto which is what they do at best. They read the feedback alright, but when it’s time to deliver the execution is horrid.
I also dont like role queue, I’ve made at least one post with my reasons. It’s a bandaid that doesn’t seek to solve the actual issues of the game.
I love role queue. While I’m not guaranteed good team mates or a good comp, I at least know I’ll have the fundamentals of a good team comp. I’ve noticed to esp with tanks people were together way more than ever even in QP. Makes the game not only more fun but also feel more competitive and less free for all. Only thing I dislike if queue times but I’m okay with that compared to how it was before.
I mean it is competitive, but ults as they are really blur the line and snowball the match one way or another too much, that I agree on. Also punishes good players for doing their job while others are not helping them finish kills.
My friend enjoys role queue but rarely plays Overwatch. (like once or twice a week, and not always comp)
I dislike role queue and play Overwatch all the time. Mystery heroes.
I’m just going to say that even though I dislike Role Queue, I don’t do what a lot of people on this thread do and disregard or degrade others who have a different opinion than themselves. People have had different experiences than others, so why are they trying to make their opinion seem more “right” or “higher” Tha than others’? Saying someone’s “kind is lurking” somewhere is so juvenile that it’s ridiculous. Just because one person had an enjoyable time doesn’t mean everyone does, and vice versa. I’ve personally seen more toxicity since the release of Role Queue, but that doesn’t mean that there has been a mass increase in toxicity for EVERYONE. God, people, stop attacking each other and belittling each other.
Role queue is great, and is here to stay. This is coming from someone who plays QP and Arcade.
A game based on teamwork and outplaying an enemy with strategy sounds pretty competitive to me.
