Petra is big, but everything revolves around the center. If you take a walk around the outside of the map, of course you’ll have a harder time finding people. You are incentivized to play towards the middle; that’s why there’s even a big ol health pack there.

I was personally hoping that they would make it a 10 player ffa, maybe even a 12 player ffa, but it would really only work well on petra because of its size.

It has a very bad habit of spawning you right where you die. Happened 3 times in one game. Killed, respawn same place killed by same person.

I completely agree. The map is beautiful but if you can go from 1st to 4th because you simply can’t find anyone there’s a problem. Make it smaller!

I think the best fix for this is to make the afk penalty system penalize players who are actually afk.
I see they tried to fix the afk system from kicking players to taking xp but to me I think that just took one penalty and added in another one.

i absolutely hate it. played a match and ended up -1 kill. granted i didn’t stay for the whole thing… but still. i’m not the greatest at dm… but i’m better than that. just… bad map. -.-

And then that lowground breaks. And that’s terrifying if you’re jumping around as Junkrat and osht there’s no ground

So i wasn’t the only one that thought that. I go towards the sound of fighting, and find an empty room, wrong floor.

Yesterday i had to bring up the scoreboard several times just to check that there’s eight of us. Maybe they can add a 12v12 mode just to experiment?

I was getting that afk message literally every few seconds all because i couldn’t find anyone it was ridiculous there’s just too many places people can be on this map.

There is only 3 ways i can see this map getting fixed, either…

  • close off some of the walls and different levels of land and make them open dynamically.
  • increase the allowed player amount between 10-12.
  • take it off the game temporarily so they can redesign and release on PTR

what do y’all think?

Getting afk warning constantly because you just can’t find anyone. Was just winning one by 5 kills and still I’m “afk”

Even more annoying, the map is massive but the spawns are so poorly placed that they can easily be camped, particularly by a Widow.

I’ve fpund this too but it doesn’t help that I really don’t know my way around the map. Maybe when it’s been out a while and people learn the dead spots and the really good fighting areas it will change.

If you’re getting AFK warnings in Petra, which is actually quite small, then you’re not gravitating towards the center or the jump pads.

Petra isn’t that much larger than Chateau.

Hey folks, we appreciate the feedback on AFK timings for Petra. We’ve been looking into this and are planning an adjustment to the timing in an upcoming patch or hotfix. I don’t have an ETA, but I wanted to let you know that we’re on it.
