Overwatch for Mac. When?

I just bought Overwatch to soon notice that it’s not available on Mac lol. Is there any news about a Mac version of the game ? Or maybe a leak for this year BlizzCon ? Anyone ?

Uhhh genuine question, do Macs even run games? are they made to run recent games in any way?

Never. However I do know someone who runs it through WINE so you could try that.

Imagine a MAC update where every hero gets earbuds for the update.

Aren’t these games really light compared to a game like OW tho? i know render settings are a thing but i’m sure the game requires much more power to run properly with playable settings

I think I remember someone saying that it was too hard to optimize the game for Macs? I’m not sure if this is accurate but most people don’t get Macs for games, let alone Overwatch, so it’s not a priority for them.

If you are being serious you need to run a program called boot camp which will partition your OS (whatever it’s at now) and Windows 10 download it in the windows 10 partition and ta da you can play OW on a Mac it might not run that great but atleast it’s something.

Coming from a person that got to GM on a Mac running bootcamp. :upside_down_face:

I mean a simple gaming PC that runs better than what Blizzard recommends you get to run OW is only $600-700 which is much cheaper than a lot of MacBooks that don’t even run games that well.

I have a macbook pro that gets smoking hot watching videos. I don’t think they can handle games. I use it for audio recording and production.

I fixed it by building a pc with a water cooled gpu. Now I can play lots of games and have nice looking graphics.

We recently had a thread about running it on Linux. Since it runs there and macOS is essentially a UNIX system perhaps you can follow the same steps to get it to run on mac as well.

There are people using Linux for Overwatch. I hear you can with identical machine get better performance out of the linux os. There were also ban reports of linux users, I’m sure they got that cleared up.
This was around the time we all got the pursuit emails and the last aimbot banwave.
Wine and DXVK were the os getting auto banned.

You get better performance on some games, but not overwatch. I recorded this a few hours ago

This is the linux version that I got working with steam proton. Here I am keeping around 144fps which is good, but on windows i get over 250fps. Quite a big difference.

The issues with the banning have been sorted out and are no longer a problem.

Get a pc, macs were nerver built for gaming and if it can run you wont get even 60fps to play at optimally. You will place in bronze and complain on the forums dont do it.

Why would you buy it when it says Pc on the front? (If you bought a physical copy that is) I wouldn’t even want to game on a mac even if I could. Their parts are so expensive to replace if stuff goes bad.
