Actually once people start seeing performance on the leaderboard they’ll stop with the gaslighting that goes on in this game that spikes toxicity and be able to actually say it was a single player that ruined a match.
Now if we could get unlimited blocking of players from being in our team, OW would improve overnight.
I don’t think it’s a human thing as there are quite a number of people who don’t feel the need to degrade or lash out at people over a game. Usually that behavior diminishes over time from adolescence if the child is taught properly and learn to control their emotions.
Sadly we have adults with the emotional stability of an adolescence which makes society overall worse off. I pity them greatly.
in 2025, to prevent toxicity, games will have:
No scoreboard
No profiles
No voice chat
No chat
No friend system
No names
No avatars
No crouch button
No voicelines
No emotes
No sprays
No ranking system
No stacking
You don’t hear people getting upset over having gold medals they don’t think they should have? It’s a known trait of this game
Point is, people are toxic, people are always gonna be toxic whether it’s out of anger, spite, or just plain old trolling, and the best you can do about it is ignore them.
Attention encourages behavior. Just mute, block, report, move on. If they wanna throw, that’s on them.
Which is why I’m hoping they’ll add a little more data to the scoreboard without overloading it. The more data, the easier it is for game knowledgeable people to draw conclusions, or dismiss incorrect ones. And yes, some will misuse it.
Would prefer an end of match scoreboard with more base data and comparative data. Either to personal or overall average. Something showing you had 25 elims on Lijang, which is 2.5 below your average, but 4.1 higher than average for your rank.
You know what. I’m gonna be done here. This argument is going in circles and I have better things to do.
Point is, we can combat this. Rid of the scoreboard. Ignoring isn’t always the solution, because there are legit chances you get the same teammate on another match and it just makes things more awkward.
Im not talking about degrading or lashing out. Im saying that there are people that are over sensitive for anything. Even if its constructive criticism that isnt meant as toxic. Or even basic in game banter. Its just the competitive nature of people. You see this in any sport or activity that involves people you are competing against.
Do people expect everyone to behave like they do when they visit their sibling in kindergarten, and they have to watch their words, and be extra nice to the kids in order to not offend and keep a smile on their face.
That just shows people cannot control themselves. Somehow people get this urge to furiously type insults to a random stranger on the internet. Probably someone they will never see again.
Good question. Perhaps everyone who thinks toxicity is suddenly going to show it’s ugly face because a scoreboard has now been added to the game can answer your question.
