One negative feedback i can already give

Scoreboard is extremely useful and something the community has been asking for years

Also toxicity is a non-considerable factor because it does not create any of that. It merely shapes the toxicity that is already there as you would get flamed regardless of whether it’s there or not. The only difference is just that without a scoreboard it’s way more absurd and usually worse toxicity, where as with complaining about stats it at least has a seed of real criticism in it which makes it ten times better because at least behind the negativity lies constructive criticism and you can actually get something out of it. It’s just way better for everyone if someone points out something that’s wrong in the comp rather than have someone spew slurs and other garbage that actually makes the entire team mald in the chat. Levels of toxicity are not equal, which makes this a big improvement

I don’t know about you but i can use my stat to shut dps up for accusing me not healing, which usually not the case (have 8k heals per 10min).

How is it useful in a game with randoms who will probably not take kindly to armchair coaching.

I think people believe in this myth that switching heroes will all of a sudden make a player better.

It’s like giving monkeys some high tech tools.
It’s more likely they bash their heads, but the people who are able to use it benefit a lot more from it

Scoreboard looks ugly, it blocks vision and it shows no relevant information pertaining the actual match and it would definitely raise toxicity when it’s thrown in front of your face when you want to check your own stats or teammate ulti charge and status.

Put scoreboard on separate button please and give us back tab.

DVS is just a troll. Why give him your energy?

about the only time you could ever really do something with it is if there are like glaring differences between teammates/enemies…

but even then the numbers dont always say everything…like a supports numbers are going to be affected by how effectively theyre being peeled for (something that doesnt show up for the peeling teammate either)…a sombra is never going to have high dps numbers…doesnt mean they arent contributing…

i see more misuse with this than beneficial usage…its just gonna be ammunition

It absolutely will be used as ammo, but there are people that are fine with it as long as they get the stats they want.

im curious to see what happens if you switch mid round…im going to assume the numbers dont reset…even though you may actually be a lot more useful/less afterwards

I left it there after getting the essence of their response. I don’t think they are a troll, they just have a very specific mindset and view of the world.

You don’t see the potential here. Scoreboard can be used to adjust your playstyle based on how well your teammates are doing. As a support main, if my dps is doing well, i’ll be playing more offensively, i could go Lucio or Zen. But if i see my dps are struggling i’ll be switching support that can focus more defensively, like Mercy, Ana, Moira (for her missive heals).

That information can be gained with your own observations of the game you are in.

That’s true, but having a scoreboard can help you analyze it more accurately instead of just guessing. If i rarely see my sombra on a killing feed, without scoreboard i would assume that she is doing bad. With scoreboard, if she got high assist number, then i can tell that she’s doing well.

Exactly. All the information in the scoreboard can already be gleamed via your own observations.

Which means the net effect on toxicity is zero and all this does is free up you mental energy.

Perhaps this is true. There are just negatives tied to the positives of a scoreboard. I will see whether the scoreboard actually improves the game or not once we get our hand on it.

If you encourage it with “features” like this. To this day I keep asking why this game even released with match chat in the first place, espacially since Heroes of the Storm doesn’t have it.

Terrible idea. Absolute fail.

Sure, let’s provide more ammunition for the toxic a-holes that comprise the community. At least, like Baja suggests, do it at the end of the game.

This just means people who were previously on comms will go totally silent and block all forms of communication.

Give it a chance. You might be surprised how many times the most toxic players in a match are the ones doing the worst.

If someone is mean to you because you’re not playing well, you should do whatever you can to distance/mute/etc that person and try to focus on your gameplay. If they’re being mean to you because they’re playing badly, you can point them to the scoreboard and let the rest of the team have your back.

You can see who the enemy carry is and try to focus them, and you can see who is struggling on your team and try to help them. Honestly, the scoreboard should have more info, including who died the most to whom, healing received, and accuracy stats for every player.

Examples:
Widow you’re not hitting any shots/kills! “Yes, I am” → points to scoreboard
I’m not getting healed! “Yes, you are” → points to scoreboard
Ana you’re dying too much! “No, I’m not” → points to scoreboard

Don’t try to take away good tools because some people choose to pound nails in with a screwdriver. The solution to that is for proper moderation so that toxic players don’t get to keep ruining everyone else’s day. Remember the Kaplan post some years back that highlighted a player that had accrued nearly ten thousand abusive chat reports before finally getting permabanned? Yea… they really shouldn’t let it get that bad again.

100% agree. In OW1 everything is behind the fog of war; how good your communication and observance are of finding both your team’s and the enemy’s strengths and weaknesses. With a scoreboard it’s much easier to do even if no one is talking.
