NEWS: Arcade Menu to get SEVEN modes soon / Quick Play Classic Permanent & Achievements

Oh thank god. I really don’t want to lose quickplay 2: electric boogaloo

This is great though technically speaking it’s not an addition to the game as we could always play classic qp(before) and mh

It’s still 5 modes on rotation

Biggest sigh of relief hearing that.

You’re missing some key words there:

This is promising as it indicates that both Quick Play Classic and Mystery Heroes will remain as long-term entrees in the arcade

This is the starts of the end…

That’s cool but shouldn’t this also be posted on the official blizzard forums before Reddit. Strange.

it is indeed odd, to say the least

To note, the game development team frequently browses the forums, Reddit, Twitter, and other parts of the community and can respond anywhere they feel appropriate. While official formal announcements will happen here or in the News Feed on PlayOverwatch.com, they can post anywhere.

It is one reason why I run the Dev Post Directory pinned here in the general discussion forum.

So, if I challenge you to prove that you’re the best all-around player by playing every hero in existence (or, at the very least, play every role type), does this mean that you will decline?

no mention on any actual new “modes”

this is better, however

dont’ get me wrong this IS awesome!

hopefully after this arcade format change, they can make a little time for some creativity (fun creativity) and slip in some exciting new game mode alterations

First, they’ll have to create a story to “co-op” in. That’s usually a bit of a wait (years), I understand.

Do y’all even KNOW where I post or browse? Seriously, is that information contained somewhere?

Nice. I’m a fan of this revelation.

Just kidding…

And I doubt we’ll get a statement that outright says, “QPC will be permanent.” Reason being is that if it tails off in popularity after some time, then the developers would be smart to start cycling it and instead make a different, more-popular mode into one of the resident Arcade cards. If the developers promise permanence, they back themselves into a corner in that they can’t remove the mode then without breaking that promise, even if it drops in popularity.

It’d just be a dumb move to make, and Jeff (I believe) has gone on record saying that he doesn’t like making promises about stuff for this precise reason. That said… all the evidence so far points to QPC being permanent for the foreseeable future.

Agreed PuffyPony, nothing is absolute. No Limits stayed on for a VERY long time in the arcade after they changed the Quick Play rules the first time, but in the end it is now mostly reserved for times when there is a new hero to play allowing room for more structured game modes. I wouldn’t say that Quick Play Classic would face a similar fate, but it is an unrealistic expectation to hope any mode will remain an everlasting feature of this game.

they probably got me categorized in the “just ignore” section

Y’all should try anyway. Seriously, I would dearly love to see all modes featured at once on a permanent basis.

Do you mean the “All Brawls” mode? I miss that mode.

Absolutely, you are…
