Month #5 of this Trash

The following thread is a QoL post I made pertaining to OW2 in August of 2022.

In the thread I listed a wide variety of popular QoL changes I’ve seen on these forums and social media for years.

Not a single one made it into OW2, and 5 months later there is no sign on the horizon for any of them.

I’d argue it’s proof Blizz is trying to do the bare minimum in relation to content to keep players playing, and none of these changes make the game money via micro-transactions so I we’ll never see them.

I would pay $20 a month to get a random skin option.

Why would the devs prioritize any of those things over much more important things that they need to fix/add now?

I’d argue it’s proof that half of those requests are trash and shouldn’t be added at all, and that they have much more important things to work on.

Adding more avoid teammates slots isn’t difficult.

I’m sure it’s not. I’m also sure that’s not at the top of their list of things to do.

Yes, what’s at the top of the list is monetisation.

If they were trash, then other titles OW should theoretically be competing with wouldn’t be releasing with/updating to support the same changes.

Also…

Players still wouldn’t be asking for them 6 years later…

Everyone here knows who the Blizzard apologists are…

What an edgy & original comment.

Half of them are trash, not all. And what other games do is irrelevant, they’re not the same game and don’t work the same.

Players totally have great requests all the time, don’t they?

You’re so edgy. Classic & original.

If half of them are trash, yet they’re outperforming OW financially and with player numbers, then what does that make OW?

You aren’t seriously being this illogical are you?

Fortnite is outperforming most games on the planet, I guess they should all just become Fortnite clones huh? If whatever they’re doing is making the most money every game should just do what they do, right?

You’re the one subjectively labeling titles as trash, yet by all objective standards (ie player stats and financials) they’re far more successful than OW.

You as an individual not liking Fortnite isn’t reflective of the gaming population.

What are you even talking about? I said half of the requests you listed are trash… I didn’t say anything about titles… hello?

Are you even reading??? I haven’t said a thing about the quality of Fortnite…

This conversation is going nowhere if you can’t even follow along. What I said was that half of the requests are trash

I gotcha. You’re still fixated on the QoL Changes. The way you engaged my followups made me think otherwise.

I said in the OP I don’t endorse or like all of the changes listed, they are just the most popular I’ve seen.

That said, simple changes like KBM inputs for console and more avoid slots aren’t too aggressive or altering, while simultaneously alleviating other issues within the game.

It’s cool, at least hey have added a lot more ai bots to qp. Go go faster queue times.

TBH, these are things you want, but they’re not easy to make and not things everyone wants.

  • KBM is a complex one, since its not supported by default and i’m pretty sure console manufacturers have issues with it for some reason. You’d also need a separate queue system, so its not just an easy fix.

  • Avoid slots are nice, but not necessary. I dont use them that often personally.

  • Solo queue pool would split the matchmaker up and make getting and filling games slower.

  • Why do you want most played heroes indicator? Wouldnt it lead to toxicity?

  • Map voting is a big system and would slow down getting into games. Not an easy thing to just throw in.

  • How would you make a surrender option?

  • How would blizzard know a cheater has been identified and players arent just abusing the system?

  • How would toxic account work? Would flagged players get abused themselves?

I have specifically and only spoken about the requests. I thought that was clear.

Some of the requests aren’t hard to implement, and some aren’t bad. But, half of them are trash, like the surrender option… this isn’t like League where even pretty much obvious loss games last 30+ minutes, OW games are over in 5-10 minutes tops if it’s a steamroll. And the solo queue pool that would just divide the playerbase further and raise queue times… those are definitely not priorities, and shouldn’t be. What OW needs is content after years of none, not focus on adding these obscure minor changes.

It’s just sad that not only did you not have a clue of what I was talking about but you instantly resorted to “we know who the Blizz apologists are”… you looked really stupid saying that and that tells me a lot.

And why the hell would they care about a post in this forum? This is not a platform for players to talk to devs, if you have not realized it. Next time: go to Reddit with it or ask them in the next AMA.

It’s times like this I’m glad I just play the game and enjoy it. I’m convinced some of y’all are just here to be dramatic on the forums.

Just because you posted something on the internet doesn’t obligate people to read it, much less act upon it.
I agree with your suggestions but calm down.

A random skin option shouldnt be hard to include.
