Mercy Mains want Mercy to be OP…to again be a must pick!!
- Most Mercy mains don’t want their hero to be OP or a must pick. They want her to be engaging, rewarding, impactful, and fun. Like every other main. In fact, before the rework, most Mercy mains who played her at the time were okay with her being a niche pick, and most simply asked for an E move to give her more utility. Most Mercy mains do not want her to be used in every single match.
Mercy mains will never be happy!!
- Happiness is subjective. There isn’t a measurement that determines how “happy” a group of Mercy players are at any given moment. It’s a personal feeling that differs from each individual. So saying this statement is a generalization of Mercy Mains. It’s the equivalent of saying “Girls will never like the color blue!” This would be giving an opinion as if it’s factual - and thus, said statement is objectively false.
Mercy mains are / behave as if they are in a cult!!
- Mercy mains are not in a cult, nor do they behave as one. Most Mercy mains don’t believe in the physical harm of others if their opinions differ, nor do they believe in brainwashing those who don’t hold their values. Cults have negative connotations in most societies, so this statement is usually said to attack a group of people, demonize, or demean them, in an inflammatory way. The truth is, it is once again a subjective opinion, and just like any other main, most Mercy mains are simply passionate about their favorite hero, and want what’s best for them. Being passionate about something, doesn’t automatically qualify you to be called a derogatory slur.
Mercy mains are entitled!!
- Mercy mains are not entitled, and their dissatisfaction with their hero is justified. If any playerbase of a hero was given a rework that they didn’t ask for and was forced to re-learn, and then watched as their hero was made OP, which in turn garnered hate against that hero and them as players in the community, and then nerfed into oblivion, it can be assumed that anyone in that situation would feel at least somewhat upset and wanting to voice their feedback on it. Entitlement assumes that Mercy players were given special treatment in their desires for Mercy. The truth is, Valkyrie being a must-pick was not their decision to make, nor was it something they wanted.
If Mercy mains don’t like their hero, switch or play another game!!
- Telling someone to play something else or leave the game altogether doesn’t solve the issues with what they were playing, and is easier said than done. As an analogy, let’s say you love a specific flavor of ice-cream. If your favorite flavor of ice-cream was completely changed, you would probably be a little upset about it. You may even ask about the flavor being changed, and give feedback about why you don’t feel it is as great as it was before. The other customers tell you to just choose a different flavor. Could you choose a different flavor? Sure. But that doesn’t mean that you will be happy about it. And those feelings are still valid ones. In the same way, Mercy mains still have the right to offer feedback and voice their dissatisfaction with their hero, in hopes that their issues are resolved. They can play whatever hero they wish, that still doesn’t mean that they have to be happy with Mercy or just smile and grin at every new change to her.
Mercy mains spam the forums!!
- As long as it abides by the CoC, all topics, including Mercy topics, aren’t spam. Spam by definition, is a topic that is posted multiple times by a single user. Topics being posted by different users does not fit this description, and most of these threads are unique from eachother, or worded completely differently - even if their subjects being discussed overlap. Yes, this includes most of the Mercy threads, and is why a lot of them still remain, despite the false flags for spam (for those who are wondering). There’s a lot of people who play Mercy, and a lot of people are passionate about her. Some topics will be similar, even if the posters are two different people. Still, since it is different people posting different threads that aren’t 100% identical, it doesn’t qualify as spam.
That Mercy main is delusional. SHE just wants x, y, and z!!!
- Did you just assume their gender? Here’s a truth: Not all Mercy mains are female. In fact, there are many people who play mercy, like any other hero in this game, who identify as either male, or various other genders too. Just because Mercy is female, doesn’t mean that her playerbase consists exclusively of women. To be on the safe side, it’s just common courtesy to refer to them (or anyone on the internet for that matter) with “they / them” pronouns, unless otherwise specified.
Mercy mains are One-Tricks! They don’t know how to play anyone else!!
- Most Mercy mains, like any other main, usually know how to play more than one hero. A lot of misconception can be had that just because someone plays a hero for a large amount of time, that they aren’t somehow “capable” of playing anyone else. Besides that being a subjective claim, the truth is, a most people who specialize in one hero have usually tried at least a few other heroes as well at one point. Mercy being a very accessible hero, makes her a go-to pick by a large majority of people, especially if they play support. That doesn’t mean that they can’t pick up any other heroes however or refuse to do so because “they are incapable of switching.” Quite simply, just like any main, what it boils down to is choice. Tracer mains like tracer, and they pick Tracer, Pharah mains like Pharah, so they pick Pharah, etc. And a simple look at that user’s profile (granted it’s not private of course), will usually show this.
All Mercy mains do is whine and complain!!
- Picture a scenario, where you are enjoying your hero, even though they are considered to be a niche pick. Your favorite hero was then reworked to be completely different against your desires due to someone else’s “opinion” that your hero was “unfun to play against.” Shortly after, this rework makes your hero OP for 5 months, and then is nerfed into oblivion, making them unfun and unengaging to play. When you try to give feedback on what you think would make them fun again, you are ignored. When you voice your opinion as to why you are disappointed about her current state, you are told countless times by a large part of the community, who are now bitter from how OP your hero was, to “Suck it up, shut up, and deal with it. You’re just entitled and want your hero to be OP again, enjoy the nerfs.” Now, after all of that. Explain how one would feel? That is an example of why a lot of Mercy mains seem to be “complaining.” They aren’t happy. And they are justified in feeling so.
Mercy mains need to Give it Up! They are not going to Revert Mercy!!
- Mercy has been reverted on multiple occasions already. Her voiceline “Heroes never Die!” was reverted back to it’s original form, her healing was reverted back from 60hp to 50hp like it was in 1.0, and her current patch includes a partial revert of Valkyrie from 50hp, back to 60hp - something she’s had since the start of the rework. So while it’s fine to disagree with someone who wants a revert, objectively at this point, the statement of “Mercy is not getting reverted” is, by definition, false.
