I am all for welcoming peep to the relevant forum areas
But your running a ryzen zen2 steam deck. I can’t help but think hanging around this specific forum thread is a bit wasted for you.
Steamdeck certainly got its fanboi momvent going I a quick google of steamdeck ow2 there videos of folk with it.
so what i am saying is there must be a place in the internet for you guys I STRONGLY SUGGESTS searching the stream forums for steamdeck OW2 i cannot imagine there are no user groups there. then i suggest ow2 forum steamdeck search.
I havent seen anybody but you on this thread with a deck. and the linux bois who i have no problem being here co they are running intels but full fat linux systems are probably the guys to most help you out but they dont run ryzen…
I hope you find a some groups to help you out get it working then write your own forum topic right here on the technical forums about how you solved the steadeck problem and what the problem was.
Combine that with the other a few posts above or yell out as would love to see some people try the linux route / confirm working on larger group (use caution/spare harddrive as i always suggest)
Sorry for quick reply/edits as doing between rounds while on the the above video/stream
what’s the easiest build to install that kinda does auto driver pulls and stuff, I saw a LTT youtube challange i think earlier this year on gaming on linux but they both used diffrent versions? and that appeared to be a real challenge.
and what’s the easiest to to get ow2 running?
EDIT for post below so not creating a new post
wow i don’t know if i have time for this till after the new year as a project.
#5 How to Download Overwatch 2 on the Steam Deck — How?
If you want to download Overwatch 2 on your Steam deck, it gets tricky — but not impossible. First, let’s say that the shooter wasn’t natively designed for Valve’s handheld console. So you’ll need various third-party apps:
Install the “Bottles” app on your Steam deck.
Now create a new bottle, give it a suitable name and select the Gaming function.
Go to the settings of Bottles and look for the tab “Runners”.
Download the latest version of “Caffe” here.
Then click on the “Preferences” setting of your bottle and search for System, then Runner Components. Select Caffe here.
Now click on “Installers” and select “Blizzard Battle.net”.
Now just install the launcher, log in and search for OW2 in the store. You’ve already figured out how to find the Overwatch 2 download on your Steam deck.
this means alittle something to me but its more relevant to angry I dont know if its jailbreaked or is something you can do to linux right off the bat. NOR DO I or ANGRY take any responsibilty for this as clearly as said in the text isn’t supported as a platform (at this time) on steamdeck os.
STILL STRONGLY recommend finding a forum user group of deck users to help you work though your issues.
At a quick glance, that looks to be about the right process (i dont have a StreamDeck, but again its just linux in a handheld/custom unmaintined distro from steam.
I do not believe it is any form of JailBreaking the device, its sorta common practice for people to install other launchers/runners on SteamDecks but unless steam have some hidden license/agreement its no different from installing it officially on a linux desktop (arm vs x64/x86)
SteamDeck itself is already using Valves Proton to run non native linux games/windows games. If in doubt/research the terms around it but most likley is still ussing the Arch license or similar (correction for above as i thought it was still debian, its now Arch based)
As for the process, well its not hard and these days most apps make it fairly easy to do this stuff. Its more understanding there is always a chance it might stop your unit from booting or some other issue (upto you to judge the quality of the product/see videos about bottles on steamdeck)
Also you can replace Bottles with Lutris but i think bottles is a little more user friendly
i got these reports if any one can explain it maybe it’s a fix

Thanks so much for checking for me, appreciate you taking the time.
When I installed OW1, I followed a different procedure and I am hesitant to completely uninstall and then reinstall using Bottles. I’m not all that tech savvy, so for now, I’m thinking it might be worth waiting for a Blizzard fix.
–tank_WorkerThreadCount 2 worked for me. Thx for those who figured out that But I’m still sad that we have to do this kind of stuff to play a game that should be running fine like it was a week ago .-.
I can confirm this:
My buddy has an i3 6100 and the game froze constantly within like 5 minutes. (Tried literally everything ingame/indrivers/inOS)
Suggested him to buy a second hand i5 6500 for like 25 bucks and holy moly, it works…we can finally play together
i don’t how it works but it sounded like bottle is just a application shell to run a contained environment you shouldn’t need to uninstall overwatch.
however i know from a few forum thread I have skimmed on linux that the carfe seems important for running ow2. the flatpack thing vrs non flatpack is beyond me but bottles has a install b net within that environment.
heres a yt video of a guy showing and highlighting a bnet
youtube. com/watch?v=o2HUNRPUDkU (take out the space)
heres a yt video but i would respond to angrey as he is way more clued up on it IMHO
After all he wrote this thead for lutris and caffe for ow2 you should be writing in that thread and give him a love heart try promote it
the patch might not work for you anyway it could be dependent on caffe version no also. like i your running in shell so theres other factors at play. but ask angry we may know which parts of the forum have highlighted iffy bottles versions and maybe the runners versions to
