Yeah no, not even close
Sym 2.0 was way stronger in high ranks and had way more t500 players.
3.0 never got any close to being better than 2.0 even at its best. 3.0 rework lost Sym half her t500 playerbase and it only went downhill from there.
Heâs not bad when played with a very offensive support. I donât mind seeing him when I Zen.
It depends on your team.
If your tank has enough hard defenses, it can work and be good.
But with a healing needy tank like Rein or riskier DPS that need healing like Sym or Mei, Zen/LW doesnt work as well.
2 yes because well for 1 hitscan are just generally better he is a projectile and and 2 Baptiste can counter his ult kiriko can counter his fire effects antinade as you said discord speeding away from him as well as a smaller hitbox⌠Now that I think about it no wonder weaver struggles so much against him.
That would explain why weaver Moira and even Brig struggle with him they just donât offer anything in that match up.
But thatâs fine a hero doesnât need to be good in every match up they can have counters.
Lifeweaver doesnât âNeedâ to be good into Mauga that doesnât downplay him in other departments.
He gets smoked in the Mauga match ups because people such as yourself Iâve noticed have like these unrealistic expectationsand like thoughts about what he can do which just donât work in practice this isnât the first time Iâve had this conversation about just how that fight usually goes.
Shooting down lamp is trivial for a Mauga. It barely fazes him.
Kiriko doesnt fare as well as Mauga can reapply his debuffs very quickly again.
Zen, yes. But Zen himself is way more frail that LW.
It also doesnât help that his healing feels straight-up janky. You canât be a âMercy-likeâ support with janky heals, they need to feel so natural to use that it slips you into an uninterrupted, meditative âFlow Stateâ rhythm.
A list of Lifeweaverâs crimes:
If you release Lifeweaverâs heal button for any reason without a lock-on target, he immediately loses ALL of his charge. He even loses ammo, despite the fact that he didnât actually fire his weapon. Other heroes with a charge-up mechanic have their charge decay over time when not in use, why is Lifeweaver being punished as the one exception to that rule?
LWâs blossoms also have a low ammo limit & a long reload animation for some reason. It makes it impossible to settle into a âMercy-likeâ healing rhythm, due to being constantly interrupted by a long, clunky reload.
Another feature that makes Lifeweaver feel janky is the fact that his uncharged blossoms are basically useless. Only Lifeweaverâs high-charge blossoms deal any useful amount of healing, which feels clunky as hell when youâre in a situation where a teammate is on critical health and wonât survive the wait time for Lifeweaver to charge up a big blossom. Youâd think that the solution would be to skip the long charge-up time & quickly spam small blossoms instead, but Lifeweaverâs small blossoms deal such miniscule healing that thereâs no reason to ever use them.
But still they offer âSomethingâ (And I meant straight up solo matrexing his).
They offer âMoreâ besides just âPull out of cage fightâ which is an ultimate.
Oh yeah Mauga also destroys tree of life this situations just getting more and more 1 sided the more I talk about it.
But like I said itâs fine so what he has 1 counter in the tank role everyone else is still free game.
There are absolutely situations where you can save people with lifeweaver that you either couldnât save on another support or you would need your ult to do so. The issue is they donât come up all the time, whereas the more meta supports will have chances to make big value plays every fight.
If itâs only better at the top, itâs not better
Sym 3.0 actually sees use and success in normal play
I think that you are just misplaying if you think that LW doesnt offer anything against Mauga.
You just have to be far more proactive about things than just chilling in the back and then getting annoyed that you cant Tree into his cage.
Who said anything about cage you think he Needs that to destroy tree?
And no shooting him full spray doesnât work either you would think it would trust me⌠Ittt does not.
Maybe if your tanks on a full counter maybe.
If he has anything to heal off off including you GG.
Point where I said that.
Sym 3.0 does not see more use and her pickrate is lower than what 2.0 had back in the day even in casual games.
Sym 2.0 at her highest had 2-3% pickrate. Sym 3.0 was and is nowhere near that. And thats because 3.0 sucks in ladder. All her power is put on team TP while 2.0âs power is on things that the Sym player has more control and agency over.
Just say that you enjoy a weaker Symmetra. Its fine, at this point it seems like people accept Sym being weak as an intended goal of OW2, even if its kind of a pathetic bias to have.
Again to me it sounds like you are heavily misplaying if you are letting a Mauga freely shoot your tree in a teamfight.
As long as Lifeweaver has his pull/grab ability, he will remain weak. An ability that has so much potential to make ultimate level game saving plays, but is also so freaking situational and causes bad friction within the team if you pull at the wrong time and cause a game ruining throw instead⌠they need to figure that ability out first and foremost.
People think I just talk out my A and a lot of things I say is just âwishful thinkingâ and âsituationalâ and âunrealisticâ it all comes from experience all of it and doing every single thing I could possibly do in detail.
Like history sarcastically said Lifeweaver just this god hero who can do blah blah and all you have to do is XYZ XYZâŚ
I just straight up do not like this match up.
When I was coaching Star I told them if you see Mauga flank or Switch they usually switched thatâs how they got from Silver to plat.
Weaver has weakness thatâs fine heâs a balanced hero. Yes I theoretically can play into Mauga and win but itâs best for everyone I just switch and not waste time on a maybe.
None of that sounds like anything I ever experienced or heard of. Nobody ever said Sym 2 was a good character outside of short times in high ranks where the generator was having an effect, and I never felt she was a good character.
Iâd need some proof on those stats because they definitely donât lineup with memory
2 situations Iâve said 1 shield break 2 Torb 3 if we wanna just like go suppper aggro and put all in on tank.
And 4 we need to get to high ground maps like dorado or like or Kings row or something like that.
when my tank wont stop feeding
But thats not the point. It does not matter if such situations exist and thats the thing. You can save people with Weaver and I dont deny that, but its not as consistent and predictable if that situation would arrive, not to mention if that situation would even happen, if you would play another support and play more with the team.
Not just meta supports and that is the main issue. Weaver is so niche, that even in cases where he works its not good to play him. You can play Zen currently and so much more than Weaver or play Mercy (who is also in a pretty bad place) and do some crazy work for your DPS. Its really hard to say, but there is no use case for Weaver where the pick is worth it. âUselessâ is hard, but fitting. If you dont want to play Weaver, you NEVER need to, while even Moira has its place and use.
I will firstly say, that you are an amazing player and that I like you, but also that you focus on things that are not that important, is not your job or just work for you.
- Its not your job, like at all. Its also not your job to make space, 1v1 the tank or deal with the sniper. Its nice if you can help, but if shields are a problem, then the DPS should switch and weaver is only a band aid fix for an open wound.
- Torb can be as fast or faster dealt with (and the turret) as Zen, Kiriko, Mercy, Bap (if the turret is not in Narnia) and even Illari.
- Its a playstyle choice of your part, but everywhere else, you are out of position and will likely die and get reported for gameplay sabotage, if you sit near the enemy and suddenly pull the tank in or behind the enemy, no matter what tank it is.
- Again, the choices on the map suck then if you need to help them reach it. Again an âopen woundâ type of scenario where Weaver can help, but will not fix the problem.
Its great that you find success, but there is a reason why he is the worst support in the game, never played and almost never seen. I personally like to play him, but that is the ONLY reason to play him: you want to.
