Ok, so now the thing is: when someone leaves the whole team gets punished by losing SR no matter how hard they try. Blizzard doesn’t care obviously, but what when they created something like “reserve player list”? People would volounteer to join these games to fill. There should be some rules according to SR gain/lost but it’s Blizzard’s team to think about it.
On top of that there could be an option to ban a player (for throwing f.e.) from the team and getting a reserve instead.
nobody would volunteer. 3rd party CSGO platform had this system and they had to actually force someone to join a game in progress.
I would volunteer for sure, I like being helpful. The thing is - Blizzard would have to think about a system that would make people want to join. For example: a loot box for playing (or winning) some amount of those matches or some SR gain/lost modifications.
Well - Blizzard pays people for those kind of ideas so…
there would also be people who volunteer to troll too
Trolls do exist anyway and they will no matter what and I don’t see Blizzard willing to solve the problem at all.
Besides - see the last sentence - it’s a possible solution not only to that idea but to the whole troll problem. You could vote to ban the troll player and get another player instead.
Again - Blizzard has emploee who should solve those problems.
Backfill already exists other game modes. All Blizzard need to do to fix the problem of leaves in Comp is add backfill to Comp.
I 100% would volunteer to back fill with the only reward being loot boxes on wins. I would play this instead of arcade.
I would even accept role lock and heal for groups.
I hate back fill in all other modes… get in a game for 5 seconds and see the loose screen.
If they are going to make a forced 2-2-2 (lots of rumors about that this is the next thing they will add) They need to also make a forced role system where you randomly get to play on one of the roles. Else you will have no one wanting to play the tanks anyway with wait times for hours because of groups waiting for the 2 tanks.
And with random forced roles you can also add a random reserve slot.
With a voting system, enough people vote a certain player out: he/she gets swapped for the reserve player. and the out voted player becomes the new reserve player.
This would be worse. Folks stuck on roles they hate will throw/troll fo get it over with quickly. You cannot force people to do what they don’t want to in a game.
I would hate the system that is forcing ANYTHING. It should be fun and rewarding experience.
Here is the idea: at the end of the match the person who joined could get a point from every teammate (again, they are not forced to give the points [trolls would get nothing or even negative points] but if the person really helped them they surely would), and the points could then be exchanged for a lootbox or tokens or whatever the reward would be.
If they don’t force players playing all roles then a forced 2-2-2 will not work either.
Most players who know fill the tank slot will not queue as tank. So there will be even less tanks. But since each group needs to have 2 tanks (where now lots of groups only run 1 or even 0) the demand will be even bigger.
So before the match system finds 2 tanks for each groups you get very long queue timers. Only way to solve this at the moment, is to force players to play tank.
And if they make it so that you will stay on a role until you win, (so next games you are a main tank until you win(so even when you log out for a week)) throwing and trolling isn’t an option anymore.
Then folks exercise their greatest strength to combat a company: they just boycott. Blizzard wants players playing their game not giving up. It’s never a good idea to force players to play in a manner they hate because the player always comes out on top.
I agree, i rather see them changing the ruleset (at least for lower tiers and QP) to enforce team fights. Making the role of tank more fun, and so more played.
But according lots of info, and lots of hyped youtube streamers, the next change will be enforced 2-2-2. So instead of just also getting hyped thinking this will solve everything, i wonder how they are going to fix the tank shortage problem?
The only way i see is it to enforce it, so some players will end up playing tanks even unwanted.
How this is enforced can be different things like the example i gave where you randomly get a role and will be until you win a game. Or it is something like first pick, or highest SR is allowed to pick first. etc
The tank shortage is one of the biggest reasons I am against forced 2-2-2. I am a tank main but that doesn’t mean everyone suddenly wants to tank cuz of the forced 2-2-2 which will have absurdly skewed cur times by role. And Blizzard does not recognize main v off designations so if they do it Roadhog Zarya is fine by them.
