I’m almost a gold portrait at borderline GM on Xbox and I’ve only run into 3 M&K users in my career on Overwatch.
What rank are you at that they supposedly “plague” the game? Or are you the type of person that see’s everyone with good aim as a M&K user?
I never understood these threads at all, I’ve been to Plat and up, yet I’ve only ran into 3 using one? Are you sure the people you suspect are using one isn’t just good?
If I know a player is using keyboard & mouse and I’m encountering them in match after match (both on my team and as an opponent), then that’s making it very difficult to avoid. Thus, I’ll report so that Blizzard may investigate and take action.
Also, Jeff made that comment more than 6 months ago and has not provided an update on Blizzard’s efforts to detect & block keyboard & mouse users on console since then, and now we have news that Microsoft are going to support keyboard & mouse on Xbox.
It’s extremely remiss of Jeff and his team to leave their player base in Limbo like that, and so myself and others are turning to the only option we have - reporting these players for cheating as per the reporting system.
If, after 6 months of investigation, Jeff did not want players reporting keyboard & mouse users as cheating, the in game reporting system definition of cheating would surely have been updated to acknowledge this.
It has not and, as it is, the definition can be applied to keyboard & mouse users on console.
I’m not going to engage with you further on this as I’m now just repeating myself to you and it’s a waste of time to do so.
If you have anything further to add to the discussion I’ll gladly respond once more, but if all you’re going to do is the same circular badgering then count me out.
True enough. I think the advantage comes from the way you can move a mouse by comparison to a joystick. Tracking in theory at least would be easier. Instead of a joystick moving 1/2” any direction a mouse can flow more like the actual movement on screen. It’s an instinctive hand follows the eye thing.
To the other comments about avoid I take what Jeff said as avoid to be mostly “we won’t tally it as false reporting but if your watching/reading this interview please don’t report it”.
Personally I’ve reported a few some because I didn’t see that comment until recently and others because the movement I’ve watched is really wonky like you see in aim bots. I don’t know end of the day but the whole reporting is supposed to be there because something wasn’t right and you want someone to review them.
There is native support for KB and Mouse on PS4. If you go into the settings on the system there are connection setting for both a keyboard and a mouse in the options.
I don’t own a Xbox One so I can’t say anything g about that but their previous consoles had supported it.
By the way I found this and I’ll no there is no in game support yet for KBM. It’s last year and there was mention of Bliz changing tune if there was native support.
Edit: If they add it I’ll learn to live with it but I play console for a couple reasons. One is they are cheaper to keep up with new games. Another and maybe biggest reason is that I don’t feel like I’m at an unfair disadvantage because I don’t have the latest hardware or because my hands are clumsy on KBM. I tried without a controller on PC I’m mashing abilities just trying to move around. lol
Side note, I’m wondering if anyone’s reported me for KBM. I’ve been doing a bit of Widow lately and with some setting changes I’m getting over 60% scope accuracy in matches. I can’t even play with a mouse.
You can argue that direction if you want. Meanwhile people can easily also think “wow, they haven’t said anything more on this despite there being so many developments and changes to the gaming landscape in more than half a year, nor have they actually come back to clarify that they meant “don’t” and weren’t intending to be misleading by using different words in the English language that are way more nuanced depending on syntax.”
If they add native support, this would be a good thing overall, as long as they put KBM users into their own queue, or crossplay them with PC/XBox users also using KBM. They would also remove all aim assist settings as part of swapping to KBM.
This would also make it clear that if you are using KBM outside of the KBM queue, you are cheating and can be banned for it.
If you want to get all picky about wording, to my knowledge Jeff and the OW team has never straight up said “don’t use KBM”, or that KBM is a bannable offense, or for people to report KBM users. If it’s not specifically banned, then it’s allowed.
Imagine your local council has said: "Avoid using the motorway at peak hour”
Still doesn’t mean you can’t. Or that you’ll be punished/breaking the law if you do.
This logic requires them to state explicitly any hack, cheat, glitch, or software requirement that produces an unfair playing field.
Or they could just use a broad statement, which they did, from which the current use of a third party emulator to allow KBM on PS4/XBox fits cleanly into its definition.
Imagine the police said “avoid this area.” When you enter the area, the police that sees you tells you to get out. They don’t say well I guess if you want to stay sure don’t mind us.
Please show me the broad statement where Blizzard said “don’t use KBM” or “KBM is a bannable offense.”
i.e. methods not expressly authorized by Blizzard, influencing and/or facilitating the gameplay, including exploits of any in-game bugs, and thereby granting you and/or any other user an advantage over other players not using such methods;
Does using KBM fit this definition?
Is it expressly authorized: no
Does it grant an advantage over other players not using such methods: yes
The post is talking about software, however the terms and conditions are general and are not limited to software. You must really really like being wrong.
