"It's just industry standard"

Paid cosmetics are not predatory. Anyone who says so doesn’t know what they are talking about.

When was the last time you bought footwear?

Jus sayin’

In a few rare instances the skins have special effects or voice lines, like reinhardt’s conductor skin (plays a train chugging noise while charging), tracer’s jingle skin (plays bell noises when blinking and has custom holiday themed voice lines), zenyatta’s cultist skin (custom ult line and numerous voice line changes), and even the new junker queen and kiriko skins with their custom voice lines and ult lines. I do think the skins would be worth the price tag if special effects and special voice lines were standard, though.

You could also try reading the rest of the post.

Co-developed by NetEase and they really love their monetization. What other games?

Just so an article on a reddit post point out on the offical blizzard store its 5 dollars for a patchimari keychain irl but 700 coins for it in game which means its more expensive for the digital version of it.

torvald, ying and grover all got reworked.

pip has a skin that’s a full on rule63 of him and it’s the only skin that actually changes the ui as well (killfeed, heal icon, scoreboard icon, etc)

Hahahaha, what a joke

I main Pip and i wanted the Pepper skin back when i played because i liked her personality

sure bud, i trust you :smirk:

Exactly, it’s only the industry standard because people are complacent and don’t push back enough.

The industry standard is horribly predatory anyway, but OW2 is even worse than the average.

Right, at least the other games have premium currency earnable in the battle pass.

I hate to break it to everyone here but I’ve seen the Witch Kiriko skin at least 100 times already in various game modes.

It is over, there is no fight left to fight. The shills unfortunately slammed the final nail in the coffin.

D.Va’s Cruiser skin has 15 unique voice lines.

Diablo 4 is planned to be a box product game with F2P monetization almost identical to OW2s despite not being a free game. Just to add more to this.

That was a ridiculous mythic skin that nobody with a brain (excluding content creators) bought. He’s just talking about normal legendary skins.

Sad part is that the new Kiriko and Junker Queen skins actually don’t have new voice lines, it’s only in the PvE mode wrath of the bride. Pretty much false advertising.

that’s why I said it was taking it to extremes.

This encouragement to just shut up and not buy it is counterproductive. The high price IS ridiculous and we should say so.

It is a problem.

this is probably the most actionable but not the ONLY problem with their new system.

They took things that used to be a few dollars investment or even just incidentally earned and made them cost more than an entire game.

I am aware of how many things I consume have reprehensible sources. You are missing the point.

Just because a lot of companies do it, does not make it OK. We would like these practices to stop and there are good and moral reasons for these things to stop.

Saying “but everyone does it” does not excuse it.

Why does Blizzard, a multidollar company have to aim for the industry standard? They should be setting it. But knowing blizzard, i prolly shouldent have said that.
