Is Genji"s dash too strong?

As soon as Moira dropped, there was nothing but complaints from every single flank DPS main (Genji, Doom, Tracer, Sombra) that it was unfair she could duel them. So she got HARD nerfed into near uselessness. Instead of nerfing her damage alone, they nerfed her healing and ult charge which wasn’t really needed at all. She has zero utility outside of survivability, and high healing on a resource. Brig got the same treatment (She needed them but not to the extent she got.), at the end of the day, with how vocal the DPS crowd is and being the mos t populated role, they are going to get mostly what they want in the end, sadly.

How is it backwards? Add more power creep to deal with healing creep? Add more healing creep to deal with said power creep? It’s backwards to want more damage and healing to offset each other, while they sit there ignoring how bad the tank role is currently.

Ana was released first and she forced the other healers to heal more.

This forced dps to dps more.

To deal with the already happening power creep. Ana isn’t the sole reason for high healing, and you should know that.

Goats sustain was so high that they had to buff basically every heroes’ damage.

It was already high, and GOATS made it worse, but k.

Healing is not as high of an issue as the damage creep, look at Cree for almost a year, look at Junkrat having a delete combo even for armor heroes over 300 health, look at Doom literally being so buggy and generates so many shields, that he can be almost unkillable at times. Hanzo, Widow, Ashe, Mercy boost, etc.

High damage numbers are a far worse impact on the the game than healing, but both need to be brought WAY down, while buffing tanks to be able to do their job.

But goats cant exist anymore. Not mention since then tanks and supps have been nerfed across the board basically. DPS have the most proportional power they have ever had in the game right now.

Ana was made to deal with the power creep that was “already” happening 2 months after release? Haha…

What bothers me more is how much unavoidable it is.

It only does 50 damage, plus plenty of things in the game do far more and are far more “unavoidable” IE. hitscan damage and hitscan attacks.

That requires aiming. using dash requires nothing

Dash literally requires you put your reticle on your target or at least be near your target for the ability to hit.

Not to mention Hitscan damage has range and is not committal, by using dash you commit to that target.

And again, its 50 damage.

That’s like saying quick melee is overpowered because it’s an unavoidable 30 damage with no cooldown, it’s ridiculous to say.

Not to mention, Genji literally can’t track you with Swift Strike, his camera is locked during the animation, meaning if you move out of the way he can’t counterplay that.

its fine, he’s slightly underpowered I think

No.

Yes it is inconsistent.

You are simply lying when you say it is braindead easy to land all three. The best Genjis in the world can’t do that, let alone you.

It’s one of those design oversights that was just ignored, and by the time the game released, players were so familiar with it that they just went with the “Umm yeah, that’s actually a feature” excuse

Genji’s slingshot move was removed though

Melee + Dash was removed.

Dash + Melee is intended because it’s an attack followup.

After Swift Strike you can choose to followup with any attack or ability since the cast time is up and the ability is over.

Thats because dash will always go to the spot the crosshair is pointed at.
As long as there is a clear line of sight - you can dash to it.

Its really obvious on Hanamura first point - you can dash thru the wall to the first point by aiming through the grating holes to the ground. But if crosshair is pointed at the wall portion, he will just dash to it and stop.

I would be totally onboard with reduced dash hitbox size to that of helix, and increase damage/splash to 120/80.

Needing to aim is not a problem, as long as it’s rewarded properly. The generous hitbox of dash is fair given the little damage it does.

Thing is, the “doesnt need to aim” thing is pretty much a dumb point in the case of dash.

Once you hit shift, his ability to move his reticle is locked until the animation is up, meaning he can’t move around to chase you with it. That’s why it’s hitbox is the way it is. He can only dash at where you were the second he hit shift, he can’t change it around to aim at you with it after.

It’s an instant 50 dps, if it was 100 then sure maybe, but it’s just 50
