So 2 days ago now I got kicked out of a lobby whilst playing and received an email notification saying:
"Account Action: Account Closure - Overwatch Account
Offense: Unauthorized Cheat Programs (“hacks”)
Recent activity on this account shows the use of an unauthorized cheat program, also known as a “hack”, which harms the intended player experience."
I have never cheated and I don’t get how this would even happen as wouldn’t the devs just check the replay of the game in which you get reported or also look at my comp rank and see that I’m silver so surely I wouldn’t be a hacker?
I have contacted support with three tickets (two answered, one unanswered) and all I got was what I assume to be automated responses in the form of:
"This action has been taken in accordance with our Terms of Use and our In-game Policies, which all players acknowledge and agree to prior to playing. These policies and conditions allow us to maintain a fun and safe game environment for all of our players.
Once upheld, these penalties will not be modified or removed.
Suspended licenses are not eligible to receive refunds of any kind."
“This penalty has already been upheld. Any further requests on this topic will not be reviewed.”
So I don’t know what else to do to get my account unbanned, I’ve never cheated and I have quite a lot of money spent on this account, and it’d feel horrible to lose all of it.
This acc I’m sending a message on was also banned for cheating while I have gamed for a long time and never cheated. I was mad at first but then I realized paypal chargeback is a thing and I disputed every purchase I’ve made and blizzard had no choice but to accept since I purchased something I no longer have access to. This goes for anyone who received a ban and made an ingame purchase just dispute with paypal and you’re good
there is software that is being falsely detected as cheating software i think some legit companies have even considered taking blizzard to court over it to force them to stop
i dont im trying to remember which software has been flagged like im afraid to play on my server that woudl maybe play this game but i wont use it as im afraid that the corsair software will trigger anti cheat…its no where near as power as my gaming laptop…i think the software may of been from hyperx…some are saying software that you can program macros can cause an anti cheat trigger and the corsair software on my server is capable as i have a corsair k55
My account was recently silenced after playing since launch.
I usually only type things like “gg/glhf” ect.
One day after a VERY horrible one sided stomp I typed “GG sorry for matchmaking” and got silenced.
I don’t doubt that you’re not hacking, or breaking any code of conduct.
The false bans are going wild. I bet they think players will just keep buying more battle passes to try and make new accounts and it’ll increase revenue, but it’s just making people leave the game faster.
I play on steam deck with mouse and keyboard but you can still program macros using the steam controller system so I’m wondering why that doesn’t raise a flag. Same thing with people who use xpadder to map keyboard to the controller without steam
they used to ban people who was playing with linux but appearently that was a bug but blizzard really needs to fix the anticheat and ban people for using cheat software instead of banning people using harmless things like not everyone using a keyboard with macros or a mouse is using it for harmful things
There was a Linux bug for a while where every time you respawned you had to alt tab the game in order to get back control of your camera. They just fixed it a couple of weeks ago. Sometimes I wanted to play on my deck undocked using the gyro for fine aim but the problem was I couldn’t map alt tab to a back button. Even trying to separate them to 2 separate buttons didn’t work. I think that they block aspects of steam input for that reason to avoid macros. Thankfully it’s fixed now so I can undock my steam deck whenever I want and play with gyro no problem. Sadly the gyros kind of glitchy in overwatch so its not worth it
I’d just take a look at what you are using for add-ons and ask them repeatedly what was it that got you into trouble.
There are gamers here that are downloading pieces of software and add-ons that the think that they are not causing any harm, but in reality they are cheating.
Anything that enhances your gameplay or helps you play this game. IS CHEATING.
if you have any cheats for another game. They may be considered cheats here too and become detected. Bottom line is. Don’t use ANY 3rd party add-ons. including for your keyboard and mouse. Even some headset software is considered a violation.
Did this ever get resolved for you? same thing happened to me yesterday. I just downgraded to windows 10 and barely even have anything on my computer. The only thing I could even think that it could be is my astro software??? I wish there was a way to speak to an actual person who could watch my replays and clearly see I’m not cheating… This game has gone so downhill it’s crazy!

Fresh smurf account got banned in 24hours too. It’s say cheating or bad behavior in chat or whatever reason but that’s not true at all. For me , they ban just because i’m smurfing. I have read the term of blizzard they attached to my ban notification. There is no any rule not allow player to register new account.
The game is free to play now. isn’t that normal if people keep registering new account to play with friend? Look at valo
Doesn’t seem like it’s that at all. Almost certainly he got reported for cheating most of the games he played. You’re giving way too much credit to Blizzard’s detecting of anything.

If my expressing happiness that a smurf got banned looks like “too much credit to Blizzard” it’s a personal problem for you. I’ll give credit to the players that reported the smurfing Sally, for whatever reason they felt like.
no, Blizzard doesn’t ban for smurfing. They never have. You can have alts. My saying it doesn’t seem that he is getting hardware banned within 24 hours because he’s on a “smurf” is based on how Blizzard’s system (supposedly) works and their own EULA.
Where as yours is based on your hopes and dreams. Does that make more sense?
Sure more reports for things that aren’t actionable is definitely what the game needs.
Alts vs smurfs, what do you think the difference makes? Why would this player call his account a “smurf” and not an “alt”? I’ll give you a hint: one farms reports and bans while the other is untouched.
It’s about player experience, and Blizzard does in fact ban for causing endless negative experiences for other players. His “fresh” account still has data from old accounts attached to it through hardware and IP information, I don’t see it as a stretch to guess it takes less to action these accounts with so much user history.
According to the EULA, it depends on everyone’s personal interpretations.
