Ok that is the problem, but you’ve got the wrong solution because you didn’t dig down another layer as to why Mercy’s kit is boring. Mercy’s kit is flawed for the following reasons:

She has no in combat response to situations where her 50 HPS beam ends up being not enough.
Almost everything in her kit is dependent on her team not being terrible.
Her E is debateably more powerful than her Q.
Valkyrie’s selling point is chain beams which are basically projected auras. Auras absolutely suck at giving accurate player feed back.

Your change doesn’t fix any of that and actually makes the second one worse because if your tank keeps peeking and taking tiny amounts of chip damage IT’LL NEVER TURN ON.

Well, that probably would be better suited by putting InstantSingleRez on Q, and mini-Valk on E.

Oh I agree, but Blizzard is either incompetent and doesn’t see Mercy’s problems or they’re too scared to try reworking her again to fix her because the first Mercy Rework turned into a raging dumpster fire.

So… Mercy is doomed to remain a dull, uninteresting, but balanced hero forever.

Which is one reason why I’ve 100% given up on Blizzard.

Eh, I just figure they were waiting for balance to be less chaotic.

And then GOATs and DoubleBarrier happened.

Also Overwatch 2, and RoleQueue.

Mercy’s rework happened 2 years ago. Also apparently balance isn’t chaotic enough for them to not push another garbage rework on a different healer… so… I’m not going to hold my breath waiting them to try to fix Mercy.

That’s why I figure it’s best to focus on QoL, that doesn’t affect her balance much.

Since devs could do that without waiting forever.

But then we’ve circled back around to the fact that minimalist QoL buffs won’t actually fix anything because Mercy’s issues are deep and pronounced.

Like… if by some miracle Mercy finally gets that QoL hybrid GA priority setting… that’d be great QoL but it won’t actually fix anything.

Well you know how GA can either be set to prefer your beam target or your aim target? Well… for a while people have really wanted to know why a Mercy who has prefer beam target off can’t GA to her beam target if she’s not looking at anyone.

Mercy needs Medic’s heal mechanics adjusted for OW’s TTK.
They copied the concept, might as well go full in.

I’d actually be tempted to see what happens if all sources of healing would be reduced by 15% if the heal target has taken damage from the same enemy more than once within the last 0.2sec.

And make it so all sources of healing are boosted by 15% if 5-6sec have passed without the heal target taking damage.

That is how medic from TF2 works, is that how you got the idea?

Yup. But apply it to all healing sources.
Also the first timer is much smaller. And the intent there is to make sustained attacks have value over burst damage.

People on TF2 don’t even understand how that mechanic works and accuse you of x thing all the time. OH MY GOD WHY ARE U NOT HEALING ME IM IN THE BACK LINES ASKING FOR HEALING.

Yeah, but this would be 0.2sec to activate, and last for 0.2sec heal debuff.

Rather than 3.0sec and 3.0sec.

Holy smokes dude, how many hours you got in TF2 in general?
Did you ever got into comp or just messing around in pubs?

8.1k hours total, the rest was in Engineer mostly then the others was me messing around lol.

And tbh, I didn’t play competitive in TF2 at all… they released that WAYYYYYYY too late for me to care about it.

Edit: actually I played 1 match of competitive TF2, and it had spies, pyros and engies and we got absolutely destroyed lol by the other team who ran the actual 6v6 comp.
