That’s the point imo. System-wise, this game has just classic FPS system and nothing more. Static environments, no character progression, and etc. but they negated to be FPS. The devs might thought when they designed many aimless characters, then it’s automagically MOBA-like. Ofc Wrong it was too naive.
The result was a degenerate FPS as well as a degenerate MOBA. No surprise ow became a niche game. Then they are forced to do one thing right at least, and that was FPS(cause it is easier. All the systems are there and they could just make aim characters.).

Can we also admit that the normal gameplay loop of all projectile heroes is spamming?… No? Oh because that doesnt fit into the forum argument that projectiles are infinitely harder to use than hitscans, and thats why all of yall are hardstuck middle ranks.

Then how to you compensate for the hitscans getting far far better accuracy at range?
Projectiles have flight time, so the further away you are the harder they are to hit with, so to compensate for that, they don’t typically get damage falloff.
If you want to make it so they do, then you are going to have to nerf hitscan falloff something HARD to make up for that.

I’m pretty sure Zenyatta has a slower rate of fire than Soldier, Ashe or even unscoped Widowmaker.
The only reason why this never happens is because hitscans refuses to shoot at enemies behind shields. But they have the same spamming capacity as everyone else.
Truth is, outside OWL (and even there) many Projectile heroes are seen an used. Sojourn was played A LOT during the beta and will be still played. You can try to argue that it is because she has a Railgun that is hitscan but most of the time she gets kills with her M1 or the Shift.
The thing is, close range, a Projectile hero is basically a hitscan, so if you give them more damage per hit, they will be stupidly OP. Bigger hitbox? Yeah you are increasing their “kill zone” by 4-6 mt.
Theres nothing much besides that you can do … maybe bigger clip/mag so they dont have to reload as much? Because increasing the projectile speeds to stupid levels (150 mt ish per sec) would break the heroes, since all fights are 20-40mt range.
People wanted to play the first new hero in over two years, of course she was gonna be picked a lot. The strongest part of her kit, is surprise, the hitscan part. It’s like how the strongest part of Echo’s kit is her beam, which is hitscan. Even on projectile heroes their strongest abilities are hitscan lol.
If sojourn is the answer to what people want from projectiles then lets increase the speed.
I know the dev spoke about how Junkrat with faster shots felt more like a rocket launcher. I am kinda of okay with that. Change it to more direct damage and weaker splash damage.
That’s already compensated through 2 methods already.
They either have AOE damage or larger hitboxes than hitscan bullets.
There’s a reason why Hanzo arrows can headshot & the arrow be floating next to the head, instead of showing as if it is pierced through the head.
And the 2nd method for how that is compensated is through the speed of the projectile, where another projectile can be shot, while the previous projectile is still in motion, ready to hit something & allow the enemy to walk into that moving projectile, instead of instantly classifying the projectile pathing as “missed”.
You are right that teamwork is one of the most important skills in the game and some are better at it than the others. But it s extremely volatile with random teammates and ranks, it s at the mercy of your teammates. And nothing really stops aim focused players from developing teamwork and game sense along the way at all.
XQC couldn’t compete against others at his level, who all have good aim on top of the usual teamwork.
So yes, you can get by without good aim, but you are limiting yourself, thus have a severe disadvantage against opponents who dont skip anything.
Changing basic mechanics of like 7+ heroes doesnt seem viable dude. Its pointless and absurd at this point. Some of those heroes have been existing for 5 years or more, and they are NOT the issue. The issue clearly lies in some people playing victim and acting like projectile heroes are powerless or do nothing compared to hitscans.
Sounds like an excuse game, but only 1 way mate, double standards much?
Also maybe that part is strong because ALL of the other parts of the kit. That beam is ultra trash if she cant fly and put some good damage with either M1 or M2 and guess what … its not THAT difficult
Most projectile heroes have strong damage/burst kits on their own, without hitscan, so chill with the plural. Pretty much the only hero that fits on your claim its Sojourn.
