I believe no one plays it there anymore perhaps on console that is, but the popularity totally dropped down for sure.
There ya go false reporting in the public. I told people when people get triggered this happen. Instead of being an adult and just say “You do you” and leave. Gotta state what’s on your mind and report as if the other poster did something wrong because it went against your mind.
I think Korean and Japanese cultures prioritize social acceptance and benefit over the individual. Do I think ALL Korean and Japanese nationals are one for all? No. Stereotyping is one thing, actually observing a national trend is quite another.
I don’t base this on hearsay either, I’ve BEEN to both countries, multiple times. I know 1st generation families from those places and live in an area where I constantly interact with people from those cultures. Their entire society stresses certain values.
People are people everywhere but your upbringing is a HUGE factor.
Oh, is that how japan, and the rest of asia is? That’s really interesting.
You can only become enlightened if you detach yourself from tradition and society. - Japanese zen master linchi
When people are alone, they are bearable. When you get them in a group, they become crazy, and develop group psychosis - Japanese Zen Master Kodo Sawaki
Fields and homelands are of a world without true merit, let the ignorant have them - Tibetan hermit Milarepa
Society was created by people with greed, anger, and delusion- Thai monk Ajahn Mun.
You going to japan and meeting a bunch of collectivists, and then saying that’s how japan is, is like an asian coming to america, visiting the south, meeting people flying american flags, and then going back to asia to talk about how colectivist america is. You met “normies” in japan. Normies are everywhere, in every country.
There are only two people turning Overwatch into a career: pros, and streamers.
If you’re a pro, there is no way you cannot climb out of low ranks eventually. Hell, Bronze to GM/T500 streams are more prominent than ever since all the pros are smurfing in protest of DPS queue times.
If you’re a streamer (who isn’t a pro or high-level player) then being able to climb doesn’t matter. People will come to watch you no matter what. I’ve seen successful streamers playing Overwatch in Gold, because the people who come to watch them either come to laugh at the Gold player antics or because they like the streamer to begin with.
No, collectivism is literally the entire point of Japan. The motto of the country is “The nail that sticks out gets hammered down”. You quoting a bunch of Zen philosophers out of context doesn’t change how the behavior of the people are.
Also, the use of the word “normie” here is ironic, because the entire point of the term is that the people are ordinary and unremarkable. They ARE the normal of that society.
He quit for the exact same reason I did. I was kind of having fun playing Supp, but when I tried tank I couldn’t leave silver, even though my other two are plat.
Reason being I refused to play the shield tank heroes for a long time. I started doing so and rapidly started rising. Right up through gold, then just uninstalled because of how oppressive the meta is. You either play the meta or lose. It’s the worst it’s ever been.
If I did this, you’d have a point. I’m pretty sure you’re majority trolling and throwing quotes you’ve heard out that sound impressive but aren’t actually relevant.
I have been to Japan and Korea. I have friends that I interact regularly with that live there. I also have friends and FAMILY that are 1st generation removed, this means their parents and some of their childhoods are a direct result of the cultures there.
I’ve discussed these actual issues with them, They agree that the CULTURE in western civilization is far more individually focused than they’re used to. They all agree that their upbringings focused on doing what was right for their neighborhoods or countries above what benefited them personally. Even their elementary schools focus on behavior first before even trying to add language and math.
You sound uneducated when trying to lecture others with Googled notes.
Perhaps if YOU spent a little time actually interacting with other cultures you’d understand how different they can be and how much your roots affect who you are.
I’m not at all quoting them out of context. Ajahn Mun was often criticized for not doing things the traditional thai way. And he responded by saying that cultures, and societies were created by people with greed, anger, and delusion. This is why forest monks leave society, and go to the forest. It was his rebelliousness, and individualism, which makes him so respectable in asia to this day
People shouldn’t follow western culture, or asian culture. They should follow the culture of the noble ones - Ajahn Suwat
All of this coming from asians, who are suppose to be “collectivist”.
M8, two very common expressions in japan are “The nail that sticks up gets hammered down” and “It is how it is.”
Social normality is a HUGE deal in japan. To the point that a dude once just walked down a shopping center stabbing people, and legit killed a bunch of people before the police were even contacted or someone acted like something was wrong.
Like, It’s an actual serious issue. It’s also why Japanese Youths are so completely nuts on websites with anonymity. If you’ve interacted with japanese people online, until you get to know them they can seem like complete nutcases.
It’s because the internet is one of the only places they can actually act out, so they go hard with it.
Is american culture paganism, is it wiccanism, is it traditional medicine based on the theory of the five elements earth, fire, water, wind, and space? Is it modern medicine and modern science, is it christianity? What is the “true” american culture?
What is “thai” culture? Is it animism? Ruesi sorcery? Buddhism? Hinduism? Black magic, white magic?
All of these things, which are extremely different, exist inside of each country. So what is the “true” culture?
There isn’t one. It’s make believe. “Culture” is made up.
The game changed a lot since 3 years. You used to be able to carry significantly more back then. It is much, much harder now. The video in the OP touches this point.
Compared to how many that completely lost interest in the game and moved on? From friends in your friends list, to professional players and streamers, who quit the game by the day.
There is an audience for team reliant games, but many people reach a certain threshold and determine that it is too much. Video is an example of a high tier streamer quitting. FPS games by nature tend to allow individual performance to shine, but OW keeps lessening that aspect with every patch. Teamwork, while it sounds like a good quality on paper, is completely butchered by the solo queue experience where you hope the 5 people you never met before in your life actually do their parts, each and everyone, so that in the end you gain INDIVIDUAL SR.
Listen, I assume you are a westerner like me, am I correct? Yet to me, you are like an alien that i share nothing in common with, and outside of the internet I would avoid you at all costs.
Yet we are both westerners? Shouldn’t we think the same, and get along?
No. Because we are individuals, that have our own opinions and beliefs, despite the “culture” we were brought up in. Same with everyone in japan, and every other country.
Generalizations like x group acts this way, and y group acts that way, is ridiculous, and it’s always going to be inaccurate.
Anyways, I don’t even want to talk to you about this. I don’t want your low vibration normie energy to invade my aura.
Not necessarily, because SINCE we were raised in western society, we value individualism and self accomplishment. Western society encourages selfish gain. If anything it’s very telling that you and I are so willing to voice our opposition of each others very ideas as our culture encourages it.
This shows a distinct unawareness of HOW different other peoples lives are. I believe you would experience extreme culture shock in any non-western society.
Every individual will not embody the societal norm in totality, but will statistically show at least some cultural conditioning if raised in that society.
Small words: People from a certain country will likely have some social traits in common with others from their country.
I like how obvious it is that you’ve western sensibilities in that you consider “normie” to be a derogatory term.
Grey, why are you on a crusade against Orisa/Sig? Does it pop up in gold often enough to be annoying? I’m not rank shaming, I’m genuinely curious as to if it’s trickling down that far.
