I play in mostly mid ranks and its like calling mccree dominant
mid ranks, and any rank besides gm for that matter for the most part plays whats fun
funny enough, genji is actually on a downwards trend in all ranks right now in the last 6 months, even if it is very slow
he is just popular and insanely bad, I would say it is also even a struggle to get a consistent nano sometimes considering both ana and genji will prob not make it easy and it isn’t uncommon to have someone else block the nano or go out of sync
like when you get blade first or your ana nano’s a rein while you are dead, so you blade, then ana has nano, then they use it since you don’t have blade blah blah you get the idea
his winrate is mostly 50 and tbh no one really knows how to play with him or even make him stronger, some games I ask for a mercy to damage boost my nanoblade and they get all confused when I have to explain to them that a nanoblade + mercy damage boost does 200 damage per swing and that they have trans
its things like this where I can’t take it seriously when people say he is downright oppressive currently in mid ranks, he is only oppressive when he is broken is what people are trying to say, when he was strong in dive he wasn’t downright oppressive in low ranks either, although his skill floor is greatly decreased I don’t see where this is coming from
funny, i play in mid ranks too and all i see are McCrees dominating in those ranks… barely see any genji. I usually see McCree and the 2nd dps being a roll the dice “hitscan,” or the other 3 flankers way more than genji. Genji requires too much synergy, coordination, and resources just to make him work its ridiculous. And usually mid ranks with randoms is just a death sentence that you’re best off playing a more self reliant dps like hitscan, echo, tracer, and what have you. Honestly, for genji to work nowadays, you legit need to have him pocketed babysitted hard or else he’s just taking a slot for the team barley doing anything.
its funny bc mccree has this reliable one shot combo in his arsenal like every 10s or something? Idk the cooldown on top of my head. And a well positioned high noon can easily get a kill or two by itself while keeping your distance and being safe? but apparently when genji so happens to have a hard to hit insta kill combo with 3hs -> swift strike, or better yet a 2 ult combo to potentially carry fights, all of a sudden thats “broken, op, and needs nerfing.” When all of genji’s kit is legit “get close and personal” which that itself is very risky but rewarding to pull off when getting kills with it… But have someone like mccree with essentially the same potential on a lower scale, BUT with consistent value, no one complains about him.
I’m starting to think that genji is widely hated because of “mobility” but disregard the hitscan issues all together when they’re clearly way better choices than most of the dps roster dealing very consistent pressure, dmg, and what have you.
between gold and diamond he has a pickrate that ranges from 3-4%. a 52.8% winrate in diamond with the lowest in gold, which suggests that the decent genjis are climbing out of gold.
he is above average in pickrate with an average positive win rate with the middle 50% + of the playerbase. hard to call those stats anything other than good.
wouldn’t call a 51 percent winrate dominant but I would say he is a popular average, nothing really points to him dominating considering soldier and mccree, both who share pickrates at his level are not complained about at all
Thats all you need. McCree casually walking to supports, flashbang and double fans the backline. On PC, in high Plat. Thats the kind of crap I see, McCree just gets away with everything. Don’t even get me started on his ult which people love to call crap yet he just walks to an angle, press Q and 3 people die because no one knows how to position until GM.
Since I don’t play hitscans myself, I just casually look at McCree destroy my entire team all the time.
i always see myself switching to McCree and its just an instant win for me. or simply just any hitscan but mainly McCree. If anything, i dont think genji is dominating at all in mid ranks. It’s moreso mccree dominating in mid-high ranks if anything.
