Genji was still Top 5 most used DPS when Moira and Baptiste were meta without Ana
Even in OWL, Ana is a map specific hero, but Genji is still one of the most used DPS now
There is a difference between “meta” and being “good”
There are heroes who have not been meta for their whole existence but are still able to be played.
Not being meta doesn’t = bad.
Good for Genji that he got some buffs, but he was never in that much of a bad place that he needed buffs over so many other heroes.

Genji is half the combo, and this is a team game. You can’t ignore team interactions in a team game to make claims about a classes usefulness. He is useful when played as part of a team, particularly when he synergizes with another class. We aren’t talking about your opinion of the reasoning and justification for his buffs, the thread is about whether or not Genji was trash. Including the comments on stats you originally went after.

Because now he is significantly less skillful - on top of being OP.
If they ever touched my main (Tracer) significantly, I would be quitting this game, if that turned it into ez-mode.
One thing Genji mains could always pride themselves of, was playing a skillful hero - not anymore.

Per above, this is conjecture.
No, by my logic Rein does not need a buff despite the fact that he is only as effective as he is when played with a group working with him as a team. You’re effectively arguing that Genji should be effective without synergy with his team in a team game and that’s why he was trash. But that’s just an opinion on the direction of class balance, not a critical context.

Yeah I actually thought that was pretty funny because you tried to be a smartass by posting the definition of inflation but you immediately had to soften it because you realized you were making an overblown and unsupported claim as statistical context and you needed to retreat.
Clearly not, if they are as effective as Genji/Ana when used in a team set up to maximize their effectiveness, actual play data would support the claim.

Symmetra has been bad for the entire 4 years the game has been out.
If anyone deserves buffs, it’s her and not Genji. Genji never even was close to her and Bastion’s level of trash tier, stop lying in such a disgusting way.
But wahh wahh poor Genji mains deserve to be meta after not being meta for 2 years (it’s not like they were not the only ones off meta or something).
Why can’t we say the same about Mercy? Or Sombra? Or all the other trash picks?

Ah, but you are neglecting to acknowledge the issue here with your logic. People don’t always play strictly like it’s a team game. If everyone did we would be using OWL stats because they have the most team coordination.
Though the funny part is that Genji was 4th picked in OWL, lower than Sym. So that means that even with all that teamwork, he wasn’t worth it 
And that’s on periodt!

They do often enough that Genji/Ana “inflated” (to a lesser extent than the definition of inflation actually indicates) the pickrate of Genji. If the inconsistent application of teamwork applies to one then it applies to another.

And your reasoning would back me up more than you since in OWL, the place that has the most coordinated teamwork, had Genji at a very low pick rate.
It wouldn’t because not being used in OWL does not define a class as trash, which is the topic of the thread and what is being discussed.
